Indeed a helpful utility. It would really be great if you could add support to preview flash files like swf and flv.
Also attribute specific filters like Mime Type, Size etc would be helpful.
Thanks a lot!!

Awesome add-on. Lets you go back and grab flash FLV, other types of embedded media for sites from your cache. No more messing with VideoDownloader hacks.

I also use it for getting the swf files or flvs easily.
Here's a blog post I wrote about it:

Good idea.
I just don't seem to be able to get it to work; when I go to about:cache it shows the regular cache.

Ainda não é 100% pois não mostra todos os arquivos do Cache.

Great addon that works fairly fast and well. Really useful when searching for things in cache.

A few suggestions(sorry that I post in reviews but there's no discussions anymore and I could not find any forum thread for this):
1.Make the search a regular expression as an option
2.Make the top part part resizeable
3.Make the image display fit by default(rather than on click)
4.Allow to filter per column?(or maybe to just search for image types/filetypes etc through a dropdown)
5.Maybe a thumbnail mode
showing a picture preview on each image line?

Keep up the great work, this is a wonderful extension.

Errors on some saved HTML files Not yet rated

I'm wondering, when I saved some HTML files in one go, sometimes some of them are not in the readable HTML formats, it's like a formatting errors. However, if you only select one particular HTML file in the cache, the saved HTML pages are always in the correct format and readable.

I took a quick look at the source code, and noticed that there is a difference on the "save cache" methods for single selected items and multiple selection of items. What's wrong with the "save cache" for multiple items ? Some pages are correct while some others go wrong.

Won't install, get "Install script not found". This is with SeaMonkey 1.1.9 and CacheViewer 0.4.5 from here:

Needs a lot of work! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This extension is a good idea, but it doesn't work well right now. Among the problems:

1. If I empty my cache, then go to youtube.com to view a video, I would expect that video to be the largest item in my cache. However, sorting the cache by size, I find the largest thing is an image. If I enter some text in the search field, then the video is finally visible in the list. Using the reload button or closing and reopening the CacheView window doesn't help.

2. CacheViewer doesn't give the choice of viewing only the disk or only the memory cache.

3. If I choose a cache item and use the "save as" feature, CacheViewer starts to download the item from its original source on the Internet. If it's in my cache (especially the disk cache), why not just copy the file from the cache?

4. Pressing any hot-keys while CacheViewer is open will cause the "save as" window to open. Even the hot-key for closing the window.

5. While CacheViewer is open, it's not possible to open some other browser windows, like the add-ons window or even CacheViewer's own preferences window.

This needs a lot of work...

not that buggy

buggy Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This will be good if you ever get the bugs fixed. 0.4.3 hangs at launch if there are more than 5000 entries in the cache, and sometimes decides just to wipe the cache out on its own. 0.4.4 doesnt hang at launch now, but it doesnt show half the stuff that is definitely in the cache and is generally just far more buggy (re-installing 0.4.3 shows this stuff, if you can get it to boot without hanging). Not impressed.

MAC use Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Does work one time on the MAC Xos. If you try to refresh it freezes FireFox. Have tried to use it many times, once you open it, you cannot use again till you restart FireFox.

2 suggestions Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I agree with a previous review that it would great to have a resizeable preview section - I would like to make it much larger. 2nd suggestion would be for a toolbar button instead of having to fish it out of the toolbar menu.
