Please bump up compatibility to work with Aurora (29.0a2). Rated 3 out of 5 stars

It'd be good to see this bumped up to be marked as compatible with Aurora and the Nightlies. Seems silly that it isn't. I'm using it right now (forced it), and it works fine on Aurora (29.0a2).

Edit: Originally gave it one star, but felt that seeing it works fine despite compatibility issue, I'll give it three. I can't give it five until compatibility issue has been resolved, though.

Excellent dictionary.

For those of you complaining about -ize, read this:
http://blog.oxforddictionaries.com/2011/03/ize-or-ise/

It's not an Americanism, and the spelling actually pre-dates the founding of the United States!

Organisation! NOT Organization. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Yes adding to the previous poster, it's ORGANISATION not ORGANIZATION. Native english speaker living in Britain for all of my 40 years of life, and if you use a Z in -sation words here and they'll look at you funny as a Yank, or as a midatlantic wannabe. A few companies standardise (Not standardize btw) on US English to make the Americans feel at home, but that doesn't mean it's common outside of that business, or acceptable - or even taught like that at school. Whatever the OED may say.

According to Wikipedia this is their own variant, Oxford spelling. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford_spelling but that does not make it common, only in some areas as detailed there. Yes organize might be understood, and is a variant, but the common version here is organise.

When is English not English? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Strange review by GeoffreyD who said that "organization" in UK English is the correct spelling - not "organisation". However although the Oxford English Dictionary is the most recognised and accepted authority, is it not the correct British English spelling - "organisation" is and is generally accepted in the UK as being the correct spelling. From Wikipedia:"American spelling avoids -ise endings in words like organize, realize and recognize. British spelling mostly uses -ise, while -ize is also used (organise/organize, realise/realize, recognise/recognize) the ratio between -ise and -ize stands at 3:2 in the British National Corpus."The point is, the use of -ise is NOT incorrect and is not an error.

Be really careful about English dictionaries that seem to be specific to a country or region. Lots of errors can be made. For example, many people think that 'organisation' is British English and 'organization' is US English. This is not correct - authentic British English is 'organization' - and if you don't believe me check the Oxford English Dictionary. There are many such anomalies is supposed country specific English dictionaries.

lovely, GB Spellchecker and no US to bother Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I installed my localised version of Aurora in Dutch... and now I can install a proper English dictionary without the US one. Mind you, I have nothing against the US nor it's English, but I just hate having a dozen or more dictionaries installed that I never use. BTW, just installed it and it's working without restarting !!! Aurora is awesome!
BTW2: This is FF 24, this plugin is NOT meant for Aurora but it works like a charm ;)

Not available for Firefox 24.0 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I want to install the British English dictionary for the latest version of FF, but it says that it is not available for firefox 24.0, which means I can't use it. Could you look into the issue please?

PS I'm not on the stable FF release channel, I switch between Aurora and Nightly builds.

Installs OK but the first spell check i did lists the word movie as a spelling error !!!

Updated 03.06.13

Thanks for your very quick feedback and explanation. Just seems weird as it is not a word i normally associate as a problem. Anyway have added to dictionary now so all is well. Thanks for the great work .

I didn't write the dictionary's word-list, but according to the OED "movie" is chiefly North American. So it shouldn't come as a complete surprise that it isn't part of a British English dictionary.

Are you able to provide the version number of the Firefox/Thunderbird software you were trying to install this to? Also, were you trying to install it to an add-on called Postbox?

Thank you so much! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For weeks I've been fighting with Firefox over it's insistence that I spell like an American! Finally dawned on me to check for a British dictionary, and I found this! Brilliant!

favourite, colour, humour, honour, neighbour! YAY! No red lines! well, there's one under YAY, but you can't win them all!

Thanks again! Brilliant add on!

All good :) Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Hi :)
Installs nicely on FF18.0 on Ubuntu 12.04. Good work peeps and much appreciated :)

If you had trouble downloading then it might be worth trying again later, perhaps reboot your router., perhaps just close FireFox and then re-open it again before trying again? I think there is a forum somewhere here that is worth asking for help from.

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)
