Seems rather nice so far. A handler should be added for when you are viewing a feed inside Firefox ("Subscribe to this feed using:" drop down box). Seems pretty streamlined otherwise. I agree that an option to scan all folders for Live Bookmarks would be nice, but the use of Live Bookmarks itself seems somewhat elegant to me. Already like the Unread view.

AMAZING. The next step would be to have an online account that syncs what is deleted/marked read/etc so that all your feeds are in sync across multiple machines!

The best thing to ever happen since RSS feeds were born! I love Brief, and I am an abandoned grinch, bent in humanity's destruction! Just wish the author added an option to display feed update alerts, even if Firefox is not running!

Autpmatic Feed detection Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This has become my main feed reader =)
Though it's a petty we have to put all the feeds in the same folder, couldn't it detect all the feeds among the bookmarks?

I was looking for a replacement of the Sage RSS reader that I was using for quite some time, but it seems it's abandoned now. This addon works perfectly even in 3.7a1pre, thanks for a great work.

Thank you! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I explicitly created a user account here at mozilla.org to say thank you for this simple but efficient and well-designed add-on. Great work, Adam!

I was using Brief 1.2.1 happily in Windows XP with Firefox 3.0.13. I have just leavened my entire system with Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 Netbook Remix with Brief 1.2.3 as an add-on to Shiretoko 3.5.2 and it is just perfect! The simplicity to nominate the file that the feeds are to be drawn from is excellent. That said, I found this initially confusing as it was different to how it was done in Windows XP. I look forward to creating my own CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) in the future and this was another reason why I favour Brief. This is the best non-Web based reader for that integrated with the Firefox Browser I know of. Thank you so much for this code.

Fantastic App that saves me alot of time!

For my little suggestion, could it be adapted to include a log in whereby read items stay read? I have this running on 3 PC's and have to clear each one, an account would save me even more time.

Many thanks

The past years I have used Sage and then Sage-too, but with Sage-too now displaying a silly notice forbidding the use of adblock software I have moved to Brief, and after a few days using it I am pretty sure this will be my RSS feed reader for some time to come! Very nice lay-out and straightforward to use. Thanks, Adam!

This is a good addon, but really needs configurable keyboard shortcuts.

suggestion Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I like this add-on very much. Thank you!

While I have a little suggestion. Could you please put the unread feed count directly on the Biref icon just like the "Read it later" does. Because I don't have to open brief to check frequently whether I received a update.

Best that I can find Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I struggled for a long time before I could get it to work. The reason was I had not registered the feeds by clicking the folder in Brief and then clicking OK. Quite simple when you know how. The only criticism I have so far is that the program lacks even the most basic help files to set up Brief properly. It is necessary to search the forum support postings for answers.

Extremely useful extension, but it does come with some flaws - can't handle multiple feeds very well, slows down mozilla's overall performance while updating large amount of feeds, won't import bookmarks properly, occasional interface bugs, some feeds are not updated at all (google reader seems to be fine), oh, and it looks like the project is dead or frozen. I'll give it three out of five, although i use it on a daily basis.

Extremely slow open Brief with a LOT of feeds. Otherwise a great reader, except for not handling images in some feeds (whereas FF's own feed preview does).
