Stop that annoying post-installation page, please! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It appears every time FF launches and is just a nuisance.

The version on the homepage may be fixed, but IT IS NOT CERTIFIED.

All it takes is:
rename .xpi to .zip
open file: /
change "true" to "false" in line 886, so it reads: show_update_message = false;
zip the folder, make xpi again, upload/submit and get it certified.

Would someone with a FF developer account like to take over? That extension is really useful but killed for now.

To bad it is not signed Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Only unsigned version 1.0.5bRev128 works for me. For now... Next version of Firefox will force me to stop using it.

Not tested propery Rated 1 out of 5 stars

After installation each time I open FireFox -- help page appears.
In 43.0.4 addon seems to be not working: I have "download dialog", but don't have ASF entries there.
Resolution: trash.

Not updated

Great with FF43 ! Just install the last update from the website author. ;) Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The author wrote this in the description of the addon inside firefox addon "Automatic Save Folder" description :
Known bug with Firefox 18+ : the "First install" tab will always open.
Please, don't use the "Add to Firefox" button from this page, but go to the official website and download latest beta version ! It's already fixed but not available here.
Do not send me insult email about that issue, Update from the website or don't use Automatic Save Folder."

Dec 16 2015 update:
I hope this addon may be updated soon again. ;) By this time with Firefox 43 (64bits), I can still make this addon works using this bypass. alas this bypass is temporary as it won't work for the next Firefox 44! :

"What can I do if Firefox disables an installed, unsigned add-on?
If any of your installed add-ons gets disabled because it hasn't been verified, contact the add-on developer or vendor to see if they can offer an updated and signed version of that add-on. You can also ask them to get their add-on signed.
Override add-on signing (advanced users): You can override this setting by changing the xpinstall.signatures.required preference to false in the Firefox Configuration Editor (about:config page). Support is not available for any changes made with the Configuration Editor so please do this at your own risk."

Annoying! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I did not test carefully whether the add-on works. The annoying bad habit that a help page <chrome://asf/content/help/update.xhtml> appears for every newly opened Browser window prompted me to drop the extension short after installation.

Keeps hammering with "thank you for installing" Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I don't know if this add-on does all what is says but the documentation does not say all what it does. In particular every time you launch Firefox it adds a tab to each and every windows saying "thank you for installing ...".

It's really annoying, furthermore when you installed time ago and you launch different sessions with several windows. It keeps adding.

The solution was to remove the add-on. Now it's no longer a pain in the ass.

doesn't work Rated 1 out of 5 stars

followed the instructions. I never see the auto-save-folder option in the save dialog

broken add on, can't stop these pop ups even with pop up blockers! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This sounds great, although FireFox already "does remember the last directory saved from any domain." Still, it seemed like a good add on ...

But! Every new Firefox window gets the promo tab added, and at Firefox launch too. So if you save and restore a session with 5 windows, you get 5 of this add on promo tabs added, and if you didn't close the 5 from last time when you saved, now you have 10 promo tabs. This is terrbile.

Ergo, every time I restart, every window restored gets this blasted "automatic" promo tab attached.

I can't even stop it with "hosts" file or an ad/pop-up blocker.

Each page says in HUGE type: "This page will only be displayed once, on first install or when important changes must be communicated."

Apparently, "import changes" means anytime you run Firefox, or just open a window.

It always appears. For instance, my mail program pops up a compose or reply window. Yes - "Automatic Save Folder" pops up an attached tab promo tab to that too, and changes the window focus too -- ANYTHING and everything in Firefox gets it.

The default behavior should be "NEVER" pop up, or at least let the user decide. As it is now, it is whack-a-mole, and the only way to rid this malware nuisance is by removing the add-on.
Bad, bad, bad idea and implementation.

I see other users have same problem and complaint.

Say goodbye to repeatedly changing the save folder Rated 4 out of 5 stars

If your the type of person who has a collection of folders you use for saving web content (e.g. banking statement, e-bills, receipt folders) this add-on can save you some of that repetitive changing folders. You can have a specific folders for specific sites and that is just what I was looking for.

I have tested beta version update from developer's website with FireFoX 25.0.1 and works well. As the developer has said you need this version if run FFX 17 or higher. I had to change some of the setting defaults to get it to behave like what I expected from the screenshot and in a way that I liked. It has lots of options to customize it to work the way you want.

Here are the settings I chose - it may help if your not sure what to try.

Page1 tab:
select "Always ask me where to save"
View options ... "Always show"
Suggest all possible folder
View the list of folders
Right click (tick both boxes)

Page 2 tab:
filtering "4,1"

Filters tab:
add a test filter (and make sure the catch all filter is "*", "*" is at bottom of list)
If the file doesn't match any filter save to - "last folder" and "memorize on site-by-site"

Thank you Cyan for a very comprehensive feature set. This one goes in my must have collection.

Great idea, but not working... Rated 2 out of 5 stars

When installed (on FF 25.0.1) , it disabled ALL downloads!
Neither "Save page as..." nor "Save target as..." did work anymore. May be an incompatibility with another of the many add-ons I have installed... or not.
I had to disable it to be able to save anything again.
It's a pity.

Just awesome Rated 5 out of 5 stars

this add-on seems to work actually well. I was thinking that this add-on was completely abandoned and unusable for a long time but I recently retested ii with its version 1.0.4 and Firefox 22 on Ubuntu64 and I discovered that it works!!! No bug with the first launch window any more and filters are effective(read the help page about regexp filters if you have problems). Thanks a lot for this essential add-on!!! Versions are also available on the developer website to download.

Great idea, poor execution Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Add-on does not work on FF 20.0 (ubuntu x64) although idea is great! Hope to see usable version soon.

Not working in FF 20.0 either. This is one of the main reasons I switched to firefox from chrome....please fix this (I'm also getting the first launch window showing up every time)

Not working FF19 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I can't for the life of me get the addon to work.
I have put in "all" in the domain and .torrent in the file type and set a local. I have activated it but FF just downloads everything to my default folder.
Shame it is not working (apart from the generous first-launch window spam which is really effing annoying)
