I'm not interested in doing what you clearly designed this extension for, but it looks like you did a pretty good job. My question is...Can you go the other way with this? I hate animated images for the most part because they flicker, flash and generally trigger migraine headaches for me and for several million others like me. Since you seem to know what you are doing, it would be really wonderful if you would take the time to make an extension that would display ONLY the first pane of an animated image, but allow the option of clicking on the image to see the animation and then stopping the animation by just clicking on it again. Please consider doing this. It would be a truly humanitarian act and a service to a large portion of mankind. Thanks.

Really happy to see this working in the latest FF versions again it’s definitely the best APNG editor available BUT it REALLY needs to implement the greyed out option and be able to load an existing APNG animation — people just don't keep old .animat workfiles after a apng file is made, but there's still a good chance you'll want to edit it later, or you could want to work on a file created by a different APNG editor (I have 2 others on my systems), so PLEASE let us load our existing APNG files, PLEASE!

Thanks for the hint, madarche-amo. That privacy issue would have been a deal-breaker for me. As it is I'm liking the look of the user interface so far. Better keep this review at three stars until I've put it through its paces a little more.

I confirm that the new 1.08 version provides an option to not have the information leak that the previous versions had.

Animat is really a must have for APNG.

Usable, stable but a small privacy issue Rated 4 out of 5 stars

An add-on with which one can create APNG files and don't get mad: in this respect it's really more usable than the "APNG Edit" add-on (that said I'm very respectful for all the work done on "APNG Edit"). Animat is just better.

I use Animat with Firefox 3.6.x and haven't had any stability problems.

Note that there is a small security issue with the versions up to 1.04 (included): the .animat format uses the full path on the filesystem of PNG images used, thus disclosing the user's name and an existing path on the host system. So don't publish your .animat files on the web until a new version that fixes this problem.
