like a nagging old woman Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Even one star is too much for this.. Author(s?) is still rude and disrespectful. I promised I would continue to check this out until it was nag-free, and yet there it is. Christ, if this wasn't nag-ware, I would have donated a few quid!! Like most of us..

3) AdvertBan only suggests you to pay a small fee for premium support. There is no need to pay if you don't need premium support.

Well if we don't NEED it, why are we continually bombarded with YOUR PERSONAL ADVERTISEMENTS??? Turn it off, after the first show at-least!

still the same Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Without further a-do, I have now officially complained about this add-on. There has to be some sort of policy breakage here.. No way can the creator sleep at night, selling this TINY package, full of bugs and annoyances... Also the author is abusive in Emails, so he deserves all he gets.. And I will keep letting the public know that there is far more superior add-ons around..

Question to author - how much money have you made? Id be interested to know who would be as stupid to pay this absurdity.

Why am I so bothered? ethics my friend, ETHICS!

$20?!?!?! USE GHOSTERY & NOSCRIPT ;) Rated 1 out of 5 stars

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!! it started at $1.99 only a few months ago!!! It doesn’t even work right yet, and probably never will!!!

The authors of this add-on are getting really pathetic. They avoid obvious complaints, they implement their own advertisement and they are totally UNETHICAL!!!

Poor impulsive add-on installers have no idea their system is rendered UNSAFE AND OPEN to the authors!

Read more about this add-on, it is pathetic and the authors are egotistical anally re-tended scammers!

The best advert banner is COMMON-SENSE. I’ve stopped banning adverts since most are un-obstructive and help pay for much of what we seem to expect for free anyway...

Stick that little star right up your own little star! If it fits, since its obviously so damn tight!

jings crivens help mah boab! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

No change then I see? Still trying to wriggle your way out of your contradictory egotistical cage?!Still trying to put out there that this is the best thing since discovering what was between your legs?!The arrogance and self-centred nature of people, that attempt to make profit via free/open-source astounds me.. Here we are using Mozilla software, which we have never paid for and never will.. yet the little guy here presents this crud to the world, and ... I have one question sir, may I have access or a copy of the database on this wonderful server? I guess since the add-on is open-source, that means the data-base (within open-source ethics) is also open-source? Therefore, you have no problem in sharing it...
--
Practices in production and development that promote access to the end product's source materials. This is what open-source is, not poking about source code! So Ive to "try" and fetch the database in "the way" the add-on "makes this".. Which says to me, you will continue to avoid the fact because that’s the way your data-base is set up.. I read too you know! ;)

Then you compare yourSELF to these huge multi-billion pound data-bases...

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.0).

> may I have access or a copy of the database on this wonderful server?
No. However, you can try fetching the database in the way the add-on makes this. Investigate the source code, figure out how to do this and go ahead! That's open source.

> I guess since the add-on is open-source, that means the data-base (within open-source ethics) is also open-source?
OK. Then ask any company which contributes to open source to share all their databases (think about Facebook, Google, Apple, etc, who share a lot of open source software). Then return back and I'll share my database with you as well.

author expects too much from users Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Have you noticed, that the author of this add-on is quick on "answering" any negative comments that may be on here, yet anything else may be let go?

I have been in contact with the author in serveral occasions about serveral matters. Let me just say, until this add-on matures to the extent that we expect, then there is NO WAY it is worth ANY amount of money.

So what if it is built around a new advanced technology!
So what if its nano seconds faster than the other advert blockers!
So what if its this and that! IT DOESNT WORK VERY WELL!!
I honestly can tell you, it does work on a 128MB 200Mhz laptop, just like AdBlock+ is capable of!

Fact is dude, the selfish speculation attitude towards even asking people to "contribute" to this immature pile of rubbish has just made me realise, I am wasting my time even trying to get around your closed minded coding ethics. To think I used to "adore" this little add-on..

Lets just say to the people that have paid - good luck if you ever have to reinstall.. I am a beta-tester on MANY things, and this little add-on has already had me contacting the author many times because it refuses to stay "paid for".. Me thinks you should try something else.. Im def going back to AB+ ;)!

> Let me just say, until this add-on matures to the extent that we expect
Could you be more specific on what do you expect from AdBan?
> IT DOESNT WORK VERY WELL!!
Could you explain why do you think it doesn't work very well?

> I am wasting my time even trying to get around your closed minded coding ethics
What do you mean under 'closed minded coding ethics'? AdBan's source code is open source - http://code.google.com/p/ad-ban-extensions/source/browse/ - so everybody can investigate the code, contribute to the code and even make a fork for free (thanks to BSD license - http://code.google.com/p/ad-ban-extensions/source/browse/trunk/LICENSE ).

> Lets just say to the people that have paid - good luck if you ever have to reinstall..
I agree that the currently used scheme for tracking AdBan payments isn't perfect. It is based on Firefox profiles ( http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles ). That's why AdBan asks to pay per each installation in distinct profiles. But, luckily, the absolute majority of Firefox users don't know how to create and use multiple profiles, so this problem won't disturb them. Firefox profiles survive both Firefox's and AdBan's re-installations and upgrades. They even survive operating system upgrade and re-installation if you don't delete documents and settings in user's home folder. So your premium support for AdBan won't disappear on these events.
Power users like you can always contact us in order to quickly resolve the problem with multiple profiles if it will arise. See http://www.advertban.com/ff/help#pay_per_instance . For example, see http://code.google.com/p/ad-ban-extensions/issues/detail?id=22 as a proof that such problems are resolved very quickly.

You know, I took an instant liking to this addon. Truth is there in front of you. Give it a go, you wont be unhappy! No waits for page loading and de-advert'ing, no faffing about waiting for long updates. IT JUST BLOODY WORKS, AND WORKS WELL IT DOES! 10 stars!
