I like to keep a lot of tabs going when at work and generally they're the same tabs most of the time so I've gotten used to their favicons, their titles just waste space, and I hate scrolling tabs. I've been using this since the early FF days and have always considered it a must-have.
That said, now that I'm using FFDE, the tabs that I left iconized when shutting down forget their state and start up the next time all expanded forcing me to spend the next min double clicking everything (which causes them to all load into memory). Bit of a pita. Fix that and we're back to 5 stars :)
This used to be a daily driver for me, but I've been trying to find the source of a big memory hole in FF and as it turns out, disabling this plugin dropped my idle FF CPU usage from 25% (on a Core i7) to 0.5%. Sorry but until this is fixed, which doesn't seem likely since the last update was over a year ago, I've got to kill it. It was fun while it lasted!
EDIT: Thanks for the reply Kevin, I've bumped it back up to three for the quick response and would be happy to help debug, would LOVE to be able turn this back on!
I agree with other posters that forcing us to put back in a feature (add-on bar) which has been abandoned (with lots of notice to boot) in order to support this single add on is completely backwards thinking. This used to be a daily driver but now it's simply inaccessible. PLEASE for the love of dog fix this! Allow us to place it in the new customizable menu!
Look forward to testing the other elements of the plugin, but being able to show the wife a quick trailer before she chooses what to watch has saved me no end of hassle! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.7.3).
I've docked 1 star because no work seems to have been done to make it compatible with the new FF right hand menu in the new Australis UI even though it's been in development for more than a year. The sub-menu is overlapped by other items and so is inaccessible meaning I'm subjugated to having to continue to use the lowly status bar placement. This is the one and only item that still needs it so it's a PITA.
I can't imagine not using the conversations preview, so discovering in this plugins support forum that the maintainer has said [conversations] "changes the Thunderbird too much" and essentially writes it off as a possibility leaves me pretty disappointed, it could have been a nice utility. Instead, uninstalled because it's essentially unusable.
-- EDIT --
Thanks for your response alehro, I've posted on your forum with my reasoning. For others, he's correct that due to Conversations not being standard, it isn't really his fault that they're incompatible. That said, he's willing to listen, so for others like me who believe both are productivity tools and would marry very well, please leave him support for the effort on his forum!
As a developer this is one of the more useful addons I use on a daily basis, bravo! Had an idea that might help enhance it's usability for me and hopefully others even further... there are several sites, most notably a web application I'm developing, that I use this with most often... it would be great if I could right click in the frame that I use 99% of the time and set it as the 'default frame' for that site. Then, I can use the normal shortcuts, like CTRL-U for source view, and have the resulting action focus on my selected default frame.
Brilliant, it's rare that a developer will respond to requests so quickly but the new option to never hide the toolbar is exactly what this needed to round it out as one of the most useful addons ever created! Great work and thank you! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1). This user has a previous review of this add-on.
One of the essential addons for Firefox, you've done a great job and the new look is clean and crisp!
My one caveat is that I would really like the hidden toolbar that only shows up while you hover to be an option, I much preferred it when the toolbar was always visible and its now become a bit of an annoyance that I have to go find it before using it.
I use the faviconize tab addon to keep things small and so without the normal close tab button available on iconized tabs, I use yours and now that it's hidden, it's more of a pain than it was before. A simple checkbox in the preferences will solve that.
Fantastic add-on, saved my @$$ more than a couple times!
Had an idea that would fall right in line with Lazarus that I'd love to see in the future....
For forms that you visit often that have a few fields you need to change before submitting, for instance a login page, where you might have a menu and you always use the second item in the drop down forcing you to manually change it every time you visit.... it would be nice if you could save that pref so that each time you come back, Lazarus has already selected the second item for you.
