Self-Destructing Cookies

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a really great add-on! It allows those who want to minimize the number of cookies they keep permanently to do so *without* sacrificing usability on those sites that insist on requiring cookies just for access.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.4).

Character Identifier

Useful in many ways Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This has all kinds of uses. If I don't recognize what language I'm looking at, Character Identifier can usually help. If I want to know how some Unicode character was composed (e.g., strikethrough in plain text, h̶o̶w̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶p̶o̶s̶s̶i̶b̶l̶e̶?̶), this often helps. If I'm unsure of which character I'm looking at (some characters in some fonts look identical or nearly so), this tells me what it really is.

It would be nice to be able to identify characters in textboxes, though.

Simple but has so many uses. Thanks.

Flashblock

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I like being able to choose which Flash objects I want to see on a page. The whitelist is a good thing to have for those few sites where you always want to see Flash (YouTube, for instance).

Just one thing to be aware of: occasionally, a Flash object will try to load other Flash, which doesn't work because they get blocked. But there's nothing to click on to say, "I want to see these too", so the application ends up not working. I find in these cases it becomes necessary to whitelist the site, at least temporarily.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.15.1).

Greasemonkey

Incredibly powerful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The ability to install simple scripts that can do just about anything with any web page or set of web pages, ranging from cosmetic fixes, to silly alterations, to adding features and repairing broken code, is an unbelievably powerful thing. And the fact that they can be installed in just a few seconds, without the overhead of whole add-ons and possibly having to restart the browser, is great too.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.9.17).

Restartless Restart

Convenient Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It's nice to be able to restart Firefox whenever I want to, instead of only when something is getting updated.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (8).

Lazarus: Form Recovery

Indispensible Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Once in a while, this saves me from losing something I've spent quite a while writing only to lose the page it was on for whatever reason or if an AJAX form failed to submit.

I also use it deliberately now and then if I have to leave a page or restart Firefox or whatever.

BarTab

A time and memory saver Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very nice. I too am annoyed when I (re)start Fx with a whole bunch of tabs, as it takes forever to finish loading them. Now I can start up Fx quickly and only load the tabs when I want to see them.

The auto-unloading feature (unload an inactive tab after a certain amount of time) also seems like a nice idea. I haven't observed it in action yet, but I have enabled it and believe it will be useful.

Thanks.

Minimap Sidebar

Pretty nice, but... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

5 stars for the quality. However, the sidebar refuses to stay closed: In FF3, if I close the minimap sidebar or switch to another sidebar, the minimap comes back immediately! For that, I must take off a star.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3.1).
