My Reviews

Flagfox

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Loved this extension and hope it returns. Please update for FF57+ !!
Now trying out "Country Flags & IP Whois" in the interim.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (5.2.3).

Xmarks Sync

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Win 10 64 bit and FF 56 and 57 and Xmarks 4.5.0.8

And it still sucks balls. made sure I kept all xmarks cookies. pop-up windows still asking me to login even though I already did. still says it is syncing and never finishes. At least I was able to go onto my.xmarks and clean up my f-d-up bookmarks. I cleaned up 4500 duplicates caused by this once great piece of software. Now a piece of sh!t. removed add-on and backed up bookmarks manually to HD. Re-enabled Firefox sync and called it a night. I will continue to manually back up bookmarks and wish there was a free dependable LAN solution to use on all my devices.

X-notifier (for Gmail,Hotmail,Yahoo,AOL ...)

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Win 10 64 bit. FF56 and 57.0.1 (both computers/browsers same behavior)
It was working recently. Now, all of a sudden, will not report new Yahoo email. It seems to log in, and I can click in the XN window to get to all my Yahoo email accts, but will not report new emails.

X-notifier (for Gmail,Hotmail,Yahoo,AOL ...)

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

4.1.5
Using both FF 56 and 57 on different computers.
My X-notifier works again!! Yay. It was definitely the "Tracking Protection" issue. Wish I would have known before.
Although, after clicking to open my email account, I still have to click x-notifier again to update the email count (log in to email twice via x-notifier). I use 5 different yahoo accts. AWESOME ADD-ON!

Xmarks Sync

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Jeez, Xmarks, what a pain in the ass you are to so many users.
I have been using this excellent addon for years. It's broke and xmarks/lastpass is nonresponsive. I have tried and tried to use this thing and after sooooo many popups telling me it can't connect and sooo many duplicate folders and bookmarks I have had it. I uninstalled and signed up for firefox sync. I have never used sync before so we'll see how that goes. I also will regularly back up my bookmark file to my local drive.

Tabs On Bottom

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Love having tabs on bottom!!! PLEASE CONVERT TO EXTENSION FOR FF 57!!!!

LastPass Password Manager

4.2.0a working fine Rated 5 out of 5 stars

My Lastpass just updated from 4.1.66a to 4.2.0a and all seems to work fine. I even ran CCleaner and restarted and it ran fine.

Open With for Microsoft Edge

61.0 not working in FF 56.0 Rated 3 out of 5 stars

No right click shell menu. Clicked icon and received error. I re-installed "Open with Microsoft Edge" 49.0 and works fine.

X-notifier (for Gmail,Hotmail,Yahoo,AOL ...)

4.1.3 OK, 4.1.4 Not Working Rated 1 out of 5 stars

4.1.3 was working "ok" with Yahoo. I would have to click on pull down XN menu and click on email account a second time after login to that account to clear number of new emails. But at least it checked for new emails on several different yahoo accounts.
4.1.4 does not check any accounts and clicking on any XN pull down listing only takes you to the "red" highlighted account regardless of which one selected.

I re-installed 4.1.3 but it does not work now either.

--- I'm back to my old manual logging in to each account via the yahoo login page now. ---

X-notifier (for Gmail,Hotmail,Yahoo,AOL ...)

Yahoo works again!! yaaa! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I stopped using 3.5.23 after yahoo started using 2 page login a month or so ago. I have 5 yahoo accounts that I check all the time. This week, I thought I would see if x-notifier had been updated for FF and so I tried the most recent version and imported my backup .xn file. Presto! It checked all my yahoo email accounts. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised. I love it. Now I just have to figure out if there is some secret setting that lets the icon know that I have opened and read my email because it keeps the number of phantom unread emails up even though I have closed out of the yahoo website.

X-notifier (for Gmail,Hotmail,Yahoo,AOL ...)

fails to check at start up 2.9.11, 2.9.12 (UPDATE) Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Aug 28, 2012 - I just updated to Pale Moon ver15 and Webmail now checks at startup. So it seems to work fine for me.

X-notifier (for Gmail,Hotmail,Yahoo,AOL ...)

fails to check at start up 2.9.11, 2.9.12 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

starting with 2.9.11 and also 2.9.12, does not check email at startup. Will check after a few minutes though. So, if I am opening FF just to check to see if I have any email, I must click "check now" on the pull down menu or wait 5 minutes. No big deal, but slightly irritating.

Readability

Turn off Icon in Add-on Bar Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I like having the Readability Icon up in the Navigation or Menu Bar. I would like the option of turning off the Icon in the Add-on bar. Perhaps adding a check-box to the "options" for Icon location in the Menu-bar, Navigation-bar, Bookmark-bar, or Add-on bar. Does anyone from Readability ever read these reviews?

Need option to remove from Add-on bar Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I like using Readability. I use FF5.0 and have the icon in the navigation toolbar. I do not have the option to remove icon from add-on bar which is regrettable. I also hate the new hotdog-in-bun/couch icon - I really liked the old "R" icon, it just seemed to be more classy and easily identifiable.

Horrible new Logo in 1.3.5 Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This update is just to change a logo?
I love the add-on and hate the new logo. A couch? Really. A couch?
I like the old "R" logo with the dark blue background and think it looks really sharp up in my toolbar.
I am not updating.

Firefox Sync for Firefox 3.5/3.6

Not Impressed Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This just sucks. I absolutely need sync profiles. I have too many bookmarks and do not need them on every computer, especially at work. I, too, will be sticking to Xmarks until the very end. Xmarks is smooth, set it and forget it with all the options I need. At home, I sync every time FF closes, while on other computers, I manually sync.

Sort Bookmarks Menu

GUI looks nice, but... Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Doesn't seem to do anything to my bookmarks no matter what I choose. I uninstalled it and went back to the old way.

I have looked and looked for a way to sort all my bookmarks at once and thought my search had come to an end this week. But I was mistaken.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.0).

Favicon Picker 3

How I make it work... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

To get a Favicon for a blank bookmark:

Open Internet Explorer (I'm using ver 6).
go to site with favicon and save as favorite.
close IE.
Open FavOrg.
Find bookmark and save favicon to user folder.
Close FavOrg.
Open FF3 and find bookmark I want to change favicon.
righclick, properties, click "browse...".
go to FavOrg user folder and click on favicon I just saved with IE.
click "Save Changes".
Done.

Is there an easier way?

Edit:

Thanks! I did not know how this add-on worked. It looked like I had to pick from my local drive. Your instructions worked great, infact I grabbed a small image from a webpage and it went right into the FF3 favicon in the bookmark! Wow!

Bookmark Sync and Sort

FF3: Sort All Sub-Folders Rated 3 out of 5 stars

In Firefox 3:
I have a sh*tload of unsorted bookmark folders. I have to left click (select), then right click (sort by name) for every stinking one. Is there any add-ons anywhere, or config tweaks that will sort all folders at once and then allow all bookmarks to stay sorted in alphabetical order all the time? Thanks!
