Firebug by Joe Hewitt, Jan Odvarko, others

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 2,588 reviews

949,808 users

Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page...
Collector's Note Acclaim for this extension is quite well deserved. Reflects on almost everything you'd want (I only wish it could also work on XUL dialogs).

Tamper Data by Adam Judson

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 293 reviews

50,710 users

Use tamperdata to view and modify HTTP/HTTPS headers and post parameters...
Collector's Note Would prefer a less nefarious sounding name, but a very useful extension

Tree Style Tab by Piro (piro_or)

Show tabs like a tree.
Collector's Note This is the sweetest thing since sliced bread--tabs which can be ordered hierarchically on the side of the screen (nice for laptops whose screen height is already small). Its creator is a brilliant extension developer who appreciates power user needs, as evident in the number of configuration options he provides (I love it), though thankfully he's split up some of his extensions into separate ones. He also has some other extensions like a context menu editor which I really hope gets restored to how it worked before.

SQLite Manager by lazierthanthou

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 283 reviews

115,760 users

Manage any SQLite database on your computer.
Collector's Note Wow, this is a sweet one. Only wish 1) menu items would insert current table data rather than generic "table-name" place-holder, etc.; 2) edit record view would have layout that was both flex and remembered for next time.

FireFTP by Mime Čuvalo

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 1,043 reviews

255,073 users

FireFTP is a free, secure, cross-platform FTP/SFTP client for Waterfox which provides easy and intuitive access to FTP/SFTP servers.

Check out my new project, FireSSH!
Collector's Note This is one high powered extension. And a great guy who made it (friendly and uses donations for orphans).

Session Manager by Michael Kraft

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 830 reviews

194,955 users

Session Manager saves and restores the state of all or some windows - either when you want it or automatically at startup and after crashes. It can also automatically save the state of open windows individually.
Collector's Note Good for storing session data

Html Validator by Marc Gueury

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 211 reviews

32,890 users

HTML Validator is a Mozilla extension that adds HTML validation inside Firefox, Mozilla. The number of errors of a HTML page is seen on the form of an icon

For Firefox 56, use 0.974 (see all versions below).
For Firefox 57, see Web Extensions.
Collector's Note Wish all developer's used this to ensure well-formed and valid code!

JSONView by Ben Hollis

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 194 reviews

62,939 users

View JSON documents in the browser.
Collector's Note Nice if you're working with JSON--syntax coloring & collapse segments

Multiple Tab Handler by Piro (piro_or)

Provides feature to close multiple tabs.
Collector's Note Nice way to close multiple tabs at once by dragging mouse

Firefinder for Firebug by Robert Nyman

Rated 3 out of 5 stars 28 reviews

10,613 users

Finds HTML elements matching chosen CSS selector(s) or XPath expression
Collector's Note Great idea to allow CSS or XPath to quickly find specific components of a page.

ChatZilla by Gijs Kruitbosch, Robert Ginda, others

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 144 reviews

60,962 users

A clean, easy to use and highly extensible Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client.
Collector's Note Great for getting quick help on development questions

JavaScript Deobfuscator by Wladimir Palant

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 26 reviews

23,565 users

Important note: This extension will not work in Firefox 57 and above. Providing this functionality in Firefox is no longer possible, the extension is discontinued.
Collector's Note Nice idea to show JavaScript as it executes and how it executes. I need to use this more than I have.

DOM Inspector by SeaMonkey Council

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 78 reviews

61,217 users

DOM Inspector is a tool that can be used to inspect and edit the live DOM of any web document or XUL application. The DOM can be navigated using a two-paned window displaying a variety of different views on the document and all nodes within.
Collector's Note Firebug usually does the trick, but this is nice for inspecting XUL dialogs which can't be opened by chrome URL

HeadingsMap by Rumoroso

The extension generates a document-map or index of any web document structured with headings and/or with sections in HTML 5. It shows the headings structure, the errors in the structure (ie. incorrect levels), and it works as HTML5 Outliner too.
Collector's Note An extension that lets you jump around a page by heading--esp. handy on large pages, and really should be built-in. When you build accessible webpages, everyone can benefit from them, and this extension proves that.

CSS Usage by Teun van Eijsden

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 41 reviews

7,160 users

Firebug extension to view which CSS rules are actually used.
Collector's Note Seems useful (for which CSS rules are actually used on one's site)
  1. 1
  2. 2
  3. 3
