warning - this doesn't work with 31.5 stay on version 1.03 which works with it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars

This used to be a very good addon which was reliable. Quality and version control has slipped and stay on what you have if it works.
I will look at moving off this addon when I get the time. What a shame but enough is enough. Given two stars as in the past it was easily a 5 star :(

I use Google Calendar with Lightning. The extention does not memorize some recurring events and synchronizes not well anymore. Altough when they are correctly memorised in Google portal. Please, fix this bug.
Thanks

Please refrain from using the reviews for support requests. Given there have been some issues I am ok with the one or other low-star reviews, but in all of your 4 reviews you have been complaining about sync issues. Don't you think one would have done it, plus maybe contacting me via email to get your issues resolved?

This is probably a good product (I don't know yet, because I've just started using it) but it REALLY REALLY needs some clear, simple installation instructions. I spend an hour trying to figure out how to use this thing. (I know the provided instructions seem clear to the author of the software, but they were anything but clear to me.)

UPDATE:

The product author was very responsive to the installation problem I had, and is probably going to take some steps to make the process clearer. In addition, I've been using the product for a while now and it has functioned flawlessly. As a result of these things, I've changed my review from 1-star to 5-stars.

Hey Harry, sorry it turns out to be so complicated. Please contact me via email so I can better understand which part is causing trouble.

Perfekte Verwaltung von Kalender und Aufgaben Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I had always problems with this add-on. Few was not too annoying, like spawning many master password windows, occasionally disabling calendars, asking for Google password every Thunderbird restart. Some very annoying, like inability to dismiss event alert. But today I had to remove it because it's got crazy and has broken thunderbird (it was spawning dozens of empty windows, disabling all extensions, asking for google password every minute). That was too much.

Please try installing the Startupmaster extension in addition to the Provider.

I absolutely hate this product! Every single time it "upgrades" it wipes the Google application-specific password and Calendar silently stops working. I am forced to reinstall all my calendars and recreate the credential.

I'm sorry about that, but I assure you that I won't be doing these kinds of updates on a regular basis. In versions 1.0 to 1.0.3 there have been some major issues where I think its better to upgrade all users. To do so, I have to disable the API key in the Google API console, which requires a re-login.

Once things are stable, I do not need to do such upgrades and your authentication will live over an update.

Note also, that generally it should be enough to log in again once. Recreating your calendars shouldn't be required. Please contact me via email for support in case its otherwise.

Calender works perfect but tasks do not update in real time even after manually syncing them. The delay makes it hard to micro manage tasks.

Please fix since it seems to become a problem just recently. Also it seems its only for receiving updates i.e. I make a change via my mobile and sync with google, but the change doesnt appear on the provider. IF i change the task on the provider it'll sync properly and timely with google.

Has been reliable for me for a while now since the big API changes. Thank you so much for making this. It makes my life much better. Even when it wasn't working great it was at least some way to access google cals from Thunderbird. Don't let the entitled complainers get you down.

Does not work for me Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It still doesn't work for me. I still get "The Calendar XXX is momentarily unavailable" and can't dismiss any reminders as a result. It still shows all the events ....

Great, although it took me some time to figure out how to combine/sync the calendars from my Google accounts.

Seems to be working now, after massive issues with the 1.0.x releases... except now every time I start Thunderbird, the provider claims it's "expired". Seriously!?

Its now working! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

When you have instal a old version before and its not working or only 1 day do this (not mine solution!):

1. Uninstalled Provider & Lightning, shut down TB.
2. Removed the calendar-data folder
you find it here ( C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\uvvvzg0u.default)
3. Checked the folder for any Provider folders or files, if yes delete it
4. Edited prefs.js, and removed ALL references to calendar (there were numerous entries)
5. Re-started TB, and ensured everything was gone.
6. Reinstalled Lightning. Local Calendar was created
7. Rebooted TB, just to be sure.
8. Reinstalled Provider,
9 add your google mail account

Working again, and then not. Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Still the same problem as before despite following others comments. It works for a day then the next day things start to disappear. I have 5 calendars and after 1 day only 2 work now.

Works great! But: can't accept invitations anymore... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Since I found lightning & the Provider for Google Calendar, I changed to the seamonkey suite for my daily business life. I am (nearly) completely satisfied!
But however - if I get Invitations, i can't accept them anymore. Additional it would be great, if any invitation could be transferred to one of my calendars - that I have to choose before. In the past all the invitations could be stored only in a "local" calendar, but I need them in my Google calendar. Export of the .ics-file and re-importing to a google calendar does work anyways, but sends additional invitations to all members of the event - so i can't use this workaround longer :-(

Frustrated by Lack of Support Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I have used this add-on for years and really appreciate its utility and all the work that has gone into it. In recent months, myself (and others, as has been reported elsewhere) have been frustrated by the inability to set a customer reminder for a specific date and time BEFORE the event. When I try, a red pop message appears at the top of the Set Up Reminders screen with the message: "Google Calendar only allows reminders up to 4 weeks before the event starts." As it stands, I can only set a custom reminder for a date and time AFTER the event, which of course makes no sense at all. (GP v1.03, Lightning 3.6b1,TB 34.0 on Win7.)

Before originally posting here in late December, I checked the support forum and found a complaint by another user under the heading "Error creating a personalized reminder for date+time." I added some additional information, including a image displaying the error, but despite a couple of bumps by me and the OP, the post was completely ignored. When I finally posted a comment here two months later, I was told to post on the support forum. Well, I had already done that, but I gave it another bump and ... nearly three months after the original post, still nothing.

I'm sorry I haven't gotten around to answering, but this doesn't mean I won't get to it. There are a few more fixes needed for 1.0.4 and I haven't had a chance to look into this specific issue.

Working Again! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I followed these steps (thanks, Dave Fletcher):

0. If you still have access to your local calendar(s), export its(their) ICS data.
1. Uninstalled Provider and Lightning, shut down TB.
2. Removed the calendar-data folder from my profile folder (one could rename the folder if a backup is desired)
3. Checked my profile folder for any Provider folders or files (I would have removed them if they had been present)
4. Edited prefs.js, and removed ALL references to calendar (there were numerous entries left behind by Provider)
5. Re-started TB, and ensured everything was gone.
6. Reinstalled Lightning. Local Calendar was created (no events).
7. Rebooted TB, just to be sure.
8. Reinstalled Provider, received the aforementioned 'version' error, but re-associated with all my onlin/Google calendars using network/Google option.
9. All events reappeared rather quickly as I reactivated (check-boxed) each calendar.
10. If applicable, import local calendar data you exported previously.
