This used to allow to hide the Attachment toolbar at the bottom but it us not possible anymore on 38.1. Can it be fixed.

Unfortunately, no. I've discontinued this add-on, since its main feature (expanding the attachment pane by default) is already a part of Thunderbird proper. If you'd like to hide the attachment bar, please see the BitBucket page for instructions about how to do that: https://bitbucket.org/squib/attachment-options/

Does not work after 38.1 update! Needs to repair!

As the description of this add-on currently reads, "Important note! If you have Thunderbird 24, this add-on is unnecessary, since TB24 has the ability to change the initial state of the attachment pane built-in."

As a result, this add-on has been discontinued. I'm only leaving the listing up for folks who are still on Thunderbird 17, but I plan on removing the add-on from AMO entirely when the next major version of Thunderbird is released.

Hi squib,

I like your add-on.
But i have a very good extra ideas to improve your add-on.
I can only show them in pictures.
In this way i cannot add pictures to show what i mean.
Can you give me a way to show you the pictures to give my ideas to you?
So you can give this add-on a few extra options?
I also like the idea for window 7 users to give a another color to a selected attachment. The color they use now is very hard to see!

It is very useful. And in the install.rdf stands:

<em:maxVersion>8.0a1</em:maxVersion>

Thanks great. So i can be sure that it will also work with the next release of Thunderbird 7.

Very useful, thank you Rated 5 out of 5 stars

A simple and useful add-on for Thunderbird 5 which does exactly what's needed, namely to give you the option to show all attachments by default (expanded) - or not if you don't mind them being contracted! Thanks very much for your contribution!

This extension is a good opportunity for those who prefear the old style.
I saw that this add-on is "localization-ready".
So I would like to know how to submit my translation into Italian.
If I did not miss something, I did not see any email address or reference to communicate with the developer.

I've added your localization to version 1.0, which is currently awaiting review from AMO.

This was extremely helpful in restoring the attachment UI of Thunderbird 3.x in Thunderbird 5.0.

There's also a CSS change that's supposed to do something similar, but it wasn't quite what I wanted. You can find the CSS change here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_5.0_-_New_Features_and_Changes#Attachment_pane_redesign (not my code).

Doesn't seem to work if viewing in a standalone window.
The option are presented in the messagepane or a tab, but have no effect on a standalone window.
