This addon can be made to work with TB 60 with some editing.

Tested on TB 60.7.2 x64 on Windows 10 with AddressBookTab 1.5. Addon fully functional after doing the following edits.

------------------------------

1. Unzip the .xpi file (change extension to .zip to extract natively, or use 7-Zip or other extractor).

2. In extracted root folder, open "install.rdf" file in a text editor.

3. Search for "<em:maxVersion>" string, and change the version number to "60.*" (no quotes).

4. Save file.

5. Go to "chrome" folder, then go to "content" subfolder inside of "chrome". Open "AddressBookTab-options.xul" file in text editor.

6. Search for line (no end quotes): "<?xml-stylesheet href="chrome://global/skin/" type="text/css"?>"

7. Add new line underneath (no end quotes): "<?xml-stylesheet href="chrome://messenger/skin/preferences/preferences.css" type="text/css"?>"

8. Save file.

9. ZIP up addon, keeping complete folder structure. Change .zip extension to .xpi.

10. Install in TB 60.

------------------------------

Notes: The edit to "AddressBookTab-options.xul" makes the Options window work again. Without that particular edit the addon will load via setting "extensions.strictCompatibility" to "false" in about:config or by bumping the maxVersion alone, and the icon will work...but the Options window freezes all other Thunderbird tabs when opened and the settings in the Options window won't stick.

Without a doubt the most essential Thunderbird addon.
Cannot live without it.
S'il vous plaît s'il vous plaît s'il vous plaît pouvons-nous avoir une mise à jour pour TB 60?
Merci.

Users of this add-on will be pleased to know that a very similar add-on has been released which does the same thing but works with more recent releases of Thunderbird. Take a look at mathaens AddressBook in Tab.

I am surprised that no one has grabbed this and ran with a new add on or an update to this one.
I loved it when it worked now I use shift/ctel/b to open it and it's not as easy as it was. Miss it.

shame there is no update...

This excellent add-on definitely needs updating; on v45 it now causes Contacts to be buggy. Sadly had to disable it ... hope the author or another steps up to bring it up to date.

This extension is very useful, but needs updating to work properly with Thunderbird 38.5 and newer.

The problem: The last opened address book is not remembered between sessions. There has been a bug (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1142705) with the contacts sidebar not remembering the last opened address book. The bug is solved in TB 38.5.

@developer: Can you please make Address Book Tab remember the last opened address book between sessions? This would be greatly appreciated.

Works very well and gets the job done. Vital addition to Thunderbird!

Very useful feature added to TB

IMHO the idea of this extension is very good and should be part of standard TB features. Anyway, IMHO this extension has some faults which should be corrected. In fact I tried to install AddressBookTab (ABT) more than once using it with different versions of TB but the basic problems I found are always the same. In particular, in this moment I'm using version 1.5 of ABT with TB for Windows 24.1.0. FYI, I also installed other extensions, the more relevant from this point of view being "MoreFunctionsForAddressbook" and "ContactTabs". But even if I disable these extensions I still have the following problem. That is, if I click on the ABT icon nearby to the Lightning's ones, the AB which appears in the tab is always the first one of the list, ie the Personal Addressbook (PAB).
Beside, if I click again (after having activated the option to have more than one addressbook in tabs) it always open tabs with duplicates of the PAB. I need to change manually the tabs with other addressbooks. The worst thing however is that if I close TB, next time I open it, yes I have multple tabs but all of them are pointing to the PAB yet, ie ABT does not save my choices between TB session!
What I suggest is to have the icon of ABT with a dropdown menu reporting all the addressbooks (for example I have 6 of them besides the default ones - ie PAB & Collected addresses) with check marks, so one can choose that/those addressbook(s) (s)he wants to have in tabs. Besides, this choiche should be remembered between TB sessions.
Thanks for the attention.

Esse complemento é tão bom que deveria vir por padrão no Thunderbird.

Just one request for Ubuntu Unity users, the File, Edit, View, Tools, Help menus should move to the top panel when Address-book is displayed in a tab-view mode.

FYI – Using Thunderbird 17.0.7 under Ubuntu 12.04.2

Extensions is simple and efective. The only thing I would change is that the icon of the button uses the same style as the other buttons and the lightning-tabs buttons.

Stopped working for me with v17 of Thunderbird. Can anybody confirm this? Before that it was great.

This is a great addon, however, it does somewhat partial job. When opening an individual contact, we still get a new window which limits the navigation. There would be a great way of fixing this, if doubleclicking a contact in AddressBookTab would open a contact in Contact Tabs. If the searchbox of Contact Tabs would be available in AddressBookTab, it would also help sorting out the outstanding issue of TB that you cannot find someone e.g. by phone number. Please consider - talk to each other guys.

J'ai constaté un conflit entre le module et celui de Paolo Kaosmos : MoreFunctionsForAddressBook. Quand ce dernier est activé, le nom des répertoires ne s'affiche plus dans le titre de l'onglet.

very excellent addon!
I find one problem: when I open the addressbook in tab, the userchrome.css file doesnot effect addressbook, but if I open addressbook directly(not use addressbooktab addon) ,then the userchrome.css can effect the addressbook well. Can you tell me how to solve this problem? thanks a lot!
