My Reviews

Dropbox for Filelink (Broken)

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

One thing to note: do not delete the attachment from the message. Doing so removes the file from Dropbox.

I made this mistake. Thought the problem was Dropbox for Filelink. Just don't delete the files from the attachment pane. The files will show "as if attached" including their original file size. When the message is sent, the files will continue to show as attachments but with 0-bytes file size.

Mail Merge

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Tip: If you use Excel, save your CSV as an "MS-DOS Comma Separated (.csv)." Any other of the CSV choice in Excel will fail.

Request: Add a "cancel" feature to the mailmerge process. On those occasions when the CSV file is incorrect, MailMerge hangs, cannot be stopped or closed, and Thunderbird must be force-quit. Quite a pain in the petard. Have a "Cancel" feature that can be invoked during a failing merge would be huge.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.9.1).

OpenSearch

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

OpenSearch breaks switching between tabs using keyboard shortcuts (i.e. CTRL-PgUp and CTRL-PgDn)

Lightning

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Mozilla pushed Thunderbird 15 to me today, which I installed along with Lightning 1.7.
Some very cool new features (like integrated chat and slick new UI)

BUT – Tbrd 15/Ltng 1.7 broke my Google calendar integration. I could no longer create events and could not dismiss events already in my calendar. Essentially, all the write functions to my Google calendars were broken.

THERE IS A FIX!

Thunderbird 15, Lightning 1.7 – Google calender broken UNTIL I stumbled upon the 0.16pre version of provider here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/calendar/lightning/candidates/1.7b3-candidates/build1/unsigned/win32/gdata-provider.xpi

I wrote a little blog post on how to install the fix here:
