This thing is awesome. It takes a spot an when Firefoxs nsIAlertService comes up, it makes that alert service notification take a spot above, it wont overlap. As shown in this image here: http://i.imgur.com/7nLZleW.png

I had an issue though. I have the regex for notify only when matched set to "^(?!.*?Mibbit)". I have the monitor behavior set to watch. Now when people chat the notiication comes up "People said stuff". But then when a person says my name it changes to "Your name was mentioned". This is good but as people say other stuff after my name it changes back to "People said stuff". Can you please point me in direction on where i can edit so that it stop monitorin once it hits regex of "your name was mentioned"? This would be extremely useful! Thank you!!

Tab notifications are very useful, and it is great to see this extension opening up use for them in firefox.

Extension works pretty well, but it does seem as if the notifications lag when opening and closing if lots of them get queued up at once.

Wish I'd heard of it before! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using Tab Notifier for the past several days in SeaMonkey 2.26.1 for Linux (openSUSE), and it has performed flawlessly -- impressive given it was for a much older version of SeaMonkey. It even has some options to control where it appears on the screen, how many to show at once, and whether to turn on "rounded corners."

The only weak spots it has are that the drop-down menus in the Preferences only show a few letters (they don't resize with the window, sadly), and the notification box doesn't pick up the system colors/theme like SeaMonkey itself does. Still, it gets the job done, and that's what ultimately counts.

Thanks for praises and also for reporting defects and remarking limitations. Tab Notifier 2.2 remedies one of them, allowing to change the aspect of the notification windows.

Works flawlessly with GMail chat, facebook chat and any other sites that has tab notification. But still looking for similar extension, since I cannot customize its appearance.

With Tab Notifier 2.2 you can change the aspect of the notifications by means of a Skin Editor

Great add-on! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

A fantastic add-on that provides exactly what I need. No need to install additional notifier add-ons that require you to log in etc. This capability should be IN the browser as we move to doing more through browsers. Almost like a Growl/Snarl system for browser tabs.
Excellent thinking and great job. Well done and many thanks!

Just what I needed Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is great...I was looking for desktop notifications for Google chat (yes, FF added html5 notifications, but the notification window disappears too quickly) and this does it in spades.

I love the regex ability...I added a regex expression of .*says.* and that only shows notifications from an Google chat. Fantastic!

Loving it. Misses two features:
1) Right-click to dismiss.
2) Themes (or customizations).

Needs a little more polish Rated 4 out of 5 stars

With a little more polish, this would be an absolute must-have extension.
The biggest improvement would be to automatically dismiss the notification after the "filter on title" expression disappears for whatever reason. One example would be Facebook's messenger web interface. I set a regular expression "messaged you". I am aware the title switches back and forth, but once the message is read on e.g. mobile device, the title no longer says "messaged you", but the notification stays.
I really hope this extension isn't abandoned, as it has a lot of potential... last update June 10, 2013

This is a wonderful feature to Firefox. I would use it if I could change the color scheme of the notification background/text/etc. As of right now I'm on Linux with very dark themed everything so that staring at my computer for hours on end is easier on the eyes. Because of this the white text on white background doesn't work well.

Excellent work, but one tiny nitpick: In English, the first letter of every word is typically capitalized in a title. Consider changing the name of your add-on from "Tab notifier" to "Tab Notifier". Beyond that, can we get Snarl/Growl for Windows support?

REQUISITE RECODE: Disabled. Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I see what's going on. That's cool-- if i could figure out, w/out reading a manual [as in most Moz add-on’s tend to be: intuitively operational], I'd give it a good rating. Presently, i'm disabling it. In other words, i don't believe it will be much use to me, so i shall not use it, until i have the necessary time to research the proper configuration. TIME-CONSUMER: ugh! I've got enough of those in my world.

The idea is: it works out of the box, but if you receive more notifications that you want you need to configure it. A more constructive review would be "I was trying to do _this_ but I found it hard". I guess you find it "time-consuming" to write a review as well, but I assure you I needed more time to write the extension ;)

amazing: works great, even for my non-standard chat client Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I didn't think it would work for a web-based custom chat client developed internally in my company, but it did! I think this is a better solution than Tab Badge because you don't have to have tabs or windows open or visible in order to be notified.

Does not work for the same subject in emails :'( Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Hello,

Is there any workaround to make it work for every email which comes to the mailbox? This does not work as expected if the subject of the email is same..!!

Fanatastic! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very well done, works flawlessly!Extremely useful while firefox still does not have native Notifications API support.

The only suggestion I'd make is to emphasise a bit more that configuration for individual sites is via a right-click context menu when viewing that particular site.
