Why was quickFilters created?
Since through developing Addons for Mozilla, espcially QuickFolders, I had an ever growing number of Folders and subscriptions I decided it would be great to have a way to manage them better. One thing that consistently annoyed me was the fact that it was so difficult to select a folder to move my mails to (with 400+ folders, this means an awful lot of scrolling). Since it is childs play moving an email into a QuickFolder I decided I would use this as a hook into creating new filters.
So I added a feature in QuickFolders that allowed to create a filter by dropping an email to a QuickFolder tab. quickFilters does the same, but in this case when you drop it to a mail folder in the folder tree.
Both extensions share the same code _after_ moving the mails, so there is no new learning curve involved.
Additionally I started looking into ways of making the filter list easier to use, namely by adding the search box and the "Move to top" / "move to bottom" buttons. The latest version also has nicer naming conventions for new filters.
