As developer said, please read carefully the Privacy Statement before installing the addon, especially part 3:
"ShowIP provides access to many external web services using ShowIP "actions". ...
... Some of them are available by default ...
... Each of these actions are different and are all run by third parties with no direct relationship to ShowIP or the people who develop them.
Each service will receive the relevant information it needs to do its lookup in the URL for the service. This may be information about the current server/page such as its, URL, IP address. ....
... Please refer to each service's posted privacy policy for additional information."
So, installing this add-on YOU are agree to share your browsing data with unknown third parties and some of them are switched on by default!

It became obtrusive after an hour of browsing, slowing down Firefox. There is a lot highly negative reviews below stressing privacy issues, so I immediately stopped using this add-on.

It is really useful add-on and it allows to save a lot of time. It is easy and simple. It uses zero resources not slowing a browser in any way.
