This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.1.11).
For my own usage this plugin is a "must have" : it's the only one offering a white list for deleting all unwanted or unknown cookies in a snap, and managing the white list is very simple, right on the main dialog window. I don't use other fonctionalities like bloking domains (which seems to have a glitch from reading other comments - I use spybot S&D to set a black list within FF configurations). Thus for that sole functionality I give this plugin 5 stars.
It looks like something needs to be clarified once more for some still complaining about not being able to capture screen regions outside their browser : this is not a screen capture tool, it's a Web page capture tool (also capturing web page regions outside the screen). For screen capturing the tool bundled with Winfdows can be used. Comparing this plugin with let's say Snag it is irrelevent, this tool focusing on capturing web pages and most of all being FREE. For what it's supposed to do it does it flawlessly and I give it 5 stars. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.1). This user has a previous review of this add-on.
This one is a "must have"! It works flawlessly, has a very simple and intuitive interface for taking "Web capture" image shots. More than just doing Web capture (save or copy to clipboard), you can either use their own editor on their servers, either use your local editor like Photoshop. I like this one!
Note : this is a "Web page capture" tool, e.g. you'll be able to capture whole Web contents even though it's not displayed due to screen size limitation.
Someone wrote : "No need to trust anyone else's servers, and you can sign up for a 2gb Dropbox account for free and use SyncPlaces."But Dropbox itself stores your data in its servers (which is why you can access them from anywhere in case all your Internet devices/computers breaks down), a fact that renders the "external 3rd party not gathering your personal information" completely wrong... No, the real huge advantage of SyncPlaces would be the fact that you can share personal data (passwords, bookmarks and such) :
1- From your own computer as a backup mechanism, or for sharing amongst multiple navigators/accounts.
2- From your own computer acting as an Internet server (if you install FTP or WebDav services, and provided that your use a DNS service such as DynDNS).
3- From your own private office server (again, having the WebDav or FTP services).
The two last options actually replace the need for some Dropbox 3rd party storage services, in a much more secure manner while preserving confidentiality.
Excellent add-on, but unfortunately it's too much intrusive : it forces me to a default locale which is not my country (fr-FR, France), whilst I've set fr-CA (Canada) into Firefox prefs.js (about:config) AND in the plugin itself, but no can do. It just doesn't work : every time I navigate a new page, I need to tell this plugin to change the locale to my real default instead of its own untouchable default forcing me to France (fr-CA as stated in Firefox's config file which is itself accessible via about:config). Consequently the list in prefs.js is growing fast, I'm affraid it'll get so huge that it could clutter and slow down things. This combined with the intrusive behavior of having the plugin always change my desired locale to another one, obliges me to uninstall it : unfortunately it does not work as advertised for some Firefox localization (or for some default locale setting within the plugin itself which CANNOT be changed even though it's not the same default locale as the one adevrtised to it by Firefox).More over, there's a BUG : whenever I change the language to French from Firefox's contextual menu (so as to use another dictionary but without the will of changing the header's locale for the whole page), the plugin's locale also changes automatically and against my will ; moreover, it changes back to fr-FR, NOT fr-CA, even though it's specified that fr-CA should be the one since it's the one that is set as default into Firefox. That's an annoying bug...A very promising plugin, but some coding design MUST be revisited. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.7.5).
Excellent add-on! Unfortunately I can't use it for my home office : I need a solution for synchronizing my bookmarks and passwords through my local area office network, NOT via some unknown outsider, whatever they say about some security policy (we never know... What we know though is that many companies have betrayed their own policies and sold back their e-mail listings and such, many are using some kind of spiders for marketing or other vague reasons). I need to be able to HAVE THE CHOICE of keeping a backup within my office network instead of their own servers (since my local net is accessible via the Web through a secured chanel, this would render the same functionality). There's no way that we'lI let another company keep a backup of confidential data such as passwords and bookmarks...This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.9.5).
Excellent!! Simple et pratique. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.7).
Ok, the Ask search extension can be removed via the extension manager. Great looks, thanks! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.6).
An important question before using the theme: Is there any way to uninstall the Ask Search extension via the extension-plugin manager? Fact is that I want my favorite search engines, not some other one, and also I really don'tlike the fact that using a theme imposes limitations in regards to browsing Web contents! Thanks for your great work, unfortunately until I know for sure that I can get rid of the Ask extension, I will not even bother to download it. -4 due to the Ask extension. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.6).
It does not work wit FF 3.6.x... And NO I will not uninstall FF 3.6 then search for FF 5 then install it then install this theme then update then restore all my preferences and other plugions then.... NO WAY!! I have much more valuable things to do then playing around my FF installation just to test this theme. Please repair the theme instead. Thanks. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.7.2).
Superb... BUT, it displays all the icons as a bitmap array on the toolbar area... *ouch*... However, It works in fullscreen mode and the icons are superb, I can imagine what it would look like in normal screen mode, however I can't see it... -3 stars.
Some basic icons like fullscreen are missing. Very nice! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3.3).
Some basic buttons like fullscreen are missing. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (22.214.171.124).
Very nice, but needs some work. eg small icons aren't of standard size, some basic buttons are missing (like the fullscreen button), etc. To the developper, if you did not have time to create specific basic icons, please leave them as original, at the very least: people don't use their browser to admire themes creators work, but to navigate the Web. Don't thank me for this reminder ;-)... 5 stars for the concept, minus 3 for the current work in production. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.6.1).
ESSENTIAL! How come isn't it part of the base distribution of TB? Worst: it's NOT compatible with TB version 3.x.x!... Very disappointing, as there is (oddly) no other plug-in doing this. Please update this essential gyzmo, thanks.
Excellent! My new outift..
Excellent, and I prefer it over Extension List Dumper: it displays list items as hyperlinks and you can save as HTML, which is very handy when sharing that list whith others or use it when installing/reinstalling FF/TB.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.10).
I prefer InfoLister, since it allows you to save the list as an HTML file with all items as hyperlinks, which is very convenient when you want to share your list with someojne else, or simply keep a a very handy list when installing or reinstalling FF/TB from scratch. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.14.1).
