My Reviews

Google Contacts

Does a good job Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Does the job well. This is apparently the best contact extension for gmail.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.7).

Gmail Manager

OK app but buggy distrib Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I had to download the .xpi provided in a user review (Mint's, from Sep 15, 2012). The link from firefox doesn't work (login failure) and caused me to waste a lot of time trying to define a new profile.
In the past I've had opportunity to use an older version; and I basically liked the way it worked, even if I had to update the .xpi manually to make it accept recent versions of FF.
So there's a recurrent distrib problem with this app.

And I've now had opportunity to see that the latest version doesn't properly handle Google multiple accounts (logging in to one account sometimes kicks me out of another). So I'm going to install Gmail Watcher instead. It doesn't do automatic logging; but does well what it claims to do.

SmartSearch

Indispensable Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The integration with the "Add Search Engine" feature places it a notch above similar add-ons.

Tab Utilities

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works great with Firefox 3.6. I had been using tabs open relative until 3.6; and all add-ons that open new tabs started to open them on the far right in 3.6 until I installed Tab Utilities.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.9.9.2).

SmartSearch

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This add-on is the natural complement to Firefox's search shortcuts. I have found it invaluable and the most usable right-click search add-on out there.

I have a single item on my wish list: the possibility of opening tabs in the background.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.16.1-signed).

Tab Control

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I personally prefer Tabs Open Relative, which has a more intuitive behavior and no interference with existing functionality.

Tabs Open Relative

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Just the behavior you would expect, with no interference with existing functionality.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3.1).

Annotate Any Webpage

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

It's a bit of a heavyweight solution. Requires you to register on a site and will save your annotations on their server. There's no option for saving locally.
If what you need is to keep track of your thoughts as you're reading a page, the best solution is to save the html and edit it using Word or any html editor.
