Check4Change
Check4Change (aka C4C) is a simple extension that allows you to select a part of a web-page, and get notified when it changes.

Highlight a part of a page and set that part of the page to refresh every x seconds/minutes. Whenever that part changes, an alarm gets shown/sounded and the tab is focussed. Since only the highlighted part of the page is changed, it does not use many resources, doesn't decrease your internet speed when you surf other tabs, and does not use much RAM either. A fabulous addon. Most recommended.

Monitors web pages for updates. Useful for websites that don't provide Atom or RSS feeds.

Add-on note
Update Scanner, SiteDelta and Alert Box are the three addons that let you monitor websites for changes. They all are only slightly different. I personally like Update Scanner, but you might want to try the others too. If your needs are extensive, you might need to use all 3 of them.

Sage, Brief and News Fox are the two best fully featured RSS Feed readers in Firefox. News Fox has more features, while Sage is lightest and simplest to use. Brief falls somewhere in between Sage and News Fox. Choose any one of them.
