I wanted an extension that I could use to quickly show me information about a word or a name without me having to google it and interrupt whatever I was doing. The only extension I could find that did something similar was WikiLook, but it was broken at the time and it only supported Wiktionary. So I started to work on fixing WikiLook and adding support for Wikipedia, but I ended up rewriting most of its code.
I thought the result could be useful to other people, so I decided to polish it up a bit and publish it.
I've just added support for the most used Wikipedia languages, and I hope to do the same to Wiktionary.
I also have to do maintenance updates to QuickWiki when there are changes in the page structure of Wiktionary and Wikipedia, though that problem was mostly fixed in version 1.1.0.
