breaks "Bookmark this page" (Ctrl-D) in FF43 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

TL;DR: disable/remove this extension. It isn't needed anymore as it appears the "old" (FF2) behavior is how things work again.

(It is known that this doesn't work with FF40+)

I've used this since switching to Firefox 3; when I added a duplicate bookmark, it was because I wanted a duplicate bookmark. This extension allowed me to add duplicate bookmarks.

I just updated from FF40.0.2 to FF43.0.4. With this update, clicking "Bookmark this page" no longer worked. I could add bookmarks by drop and drag in the bookmarks sidebar, or into the bookmark toolbar, but not with CTRL-D, the star, or the bookmarks menu.

Opening the browser console showed an exception in this extension whenever I used one of the failing options.

The good news: after I disabled this extension and found I could still add a bookmark if it already exists by drop and drag, and that it didn't remove the bookmark from whereever it already was in my bookmarks. Further, if I used "bookmark all tabs" an already-bookmarked page was duplicated in the new folder, and not removed from whereever it might have existed in my bookmarks.

These behaviors seem to be the default now and I'm happy with that.

The only behavior that I think this fixed is that "Delete bookmark" from the Bookmark menu continues to delete all the instances of this page in your bookmarks. I just don't use that, and instead right-click and delete the specific bookmark.

I gave this 5 stars because while it worked, it was invaluable to me.

"Sorry, I cannot update this for Firefox40 and later.", alternative ? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Hi, the addon is dead, the develloper says "Sorry, I cannot update this for Firefox40 and later.". Do you know an alternative or another workaround to keep this old behavior ? Thanks

dont have "Bookmark This Tab" ...seriously, where do you get that.

Old Add Bookmark not working with FF 29.0.1 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I hope this add-on can be repaired to work with Firefox 29.0.1.

It is very distracting when "Bookmark This Page" sometimes appears and sometimes disappears because of the poor Firefox design.

Doesn't work Rated 1 out of 5 stars

There is no gui control to Bookmark all tabs, at all!

this add-on resolves the specification fault that Firefox has. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Since Firefox 3, we cannot save a bookmark that we have saved already. This is very inconvenience. Especially, I feel dissatisfied when I want to save "temporarily" a certain bookmark that I have saved in a deep layer already. In that case, I want to save it repeatedly in a shallow layer. This add-on "Old Add Bookmark Behavior" can save any bookmark repeatedly. Namely, this add-on resolves the specification fault that Firefox has.

Works perfectly as advertised (which is the way Firefox SHOULD work without this add-on)!

Removing 'Bookmark all tabs' is one of the stupidest changes I've seen made to Firefox, going backwards in the name of making things simpler!

Thank you! As another reviewer said, this fixes a regression in FireFox 3.

Thank the gods for this! What EARTH were the Firefox drone-army thinking?

Four stars for an otherwise perfect fix to Mozilla's mistake -- you lose one for not getting a native English speaker to double check your work :)

I was tired of losing bookmarks. Now and then I would add a page to the bookmark bar (normally to read it later, often by dragging by mistake) that I had previously saved and classified. Firefox had silently removed the original bookmark so, as soon as I remove the last addition, the page is gone. Once more, data loss as a feature.

This add-on overcomes this "feature" while gracefully allowing me to opt-in in a per bookmark basis.

The only drawback is unintelligible text of the duplicate bookmark dialog ("Do you bookmark of duplication url?") but I can't figure out how to contact the author (the add-on site is in Japanese).

Today I was shocked by reading at some blogs on how FF 3's new bookmark behavior. If I try too add a new bookmark that I already have too a secondary folder it just move it's location!. Thanks god for the people behind this wonderfull little add-on with have corrected a big mistake in the new firefox version. This simple add-on is so great and simple. It's not everyday that I add a new add-on too my always use-list, but this one will be one of them. Even if it's an experimental I'll use always from now.

Can't Install Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I can't seem to install the add-on because of a failed hash check. Will try again later, though. FF 3 is too annoying not to.

Thank you for putting in the hard, tedious work of developing workarounds for Mozilla's mistakes. If it weren't for developers like you, I'd just never upgrade.

This is a very useful extension, thanks for writing it.
The new FF3 behavior of updating an existing bookmark instead of adding a new one is pretty irritating and I am glad to get rid of it.

In 3.0, you can duplicate bookmarks by draggin tab or url favicon, but this makes it so much easier.

Another excellent extension.

Thanks
