Question Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I would like to refer to this:

https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/722

isn't this basically a version of Noscript, but then limited to Flash instead of all "executable content"

seriously, wheter or not this add-on came earlier, Noscript does the very same and way more...

Your logo's look pretty much the same, so I'm wondering if you guys also built NoScript

Best thing ever!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

WOW!!! s***, i don't know what to say, absolutely speechless. I just wanna say it's the best thing ever! simple easy plugin to return control back to the people.

A big kick in the face to all these idiot web developers and advertisers who get overly excited with flash to the point where the just don't give a f*** about usability or the annoyance and stress it can cause end users.

A big thumbs, works perfect, miles better than anything else out there, join the revolution and help spread the word!!!

This is a must have for my laptop. Typically newspaper websites have loads of flash advertisements which uses a lot of CPU. By using Flashblock I can read newspapers with 0% CPU usage instead of 100% :)

Love It!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is by far the most impressive add-on/extension i have ever seen for Firefox, i have been using Firefox for many years now and am so pleased with what this add-on/extension does. I love this add-on/extension because it not only blocks those flash adds it speeds up the opening of a web page and uses less downloads of my download limit. I used to have dial up and discovered this add-on/extension whilst on dial up and it really sped up the speed of the pages opening on Firefox. Now that i have ADSL-2 it does not really speed up the opening up of the pages but now just for me gets rid of those annoying and inappropriate adds on the web page u may be browsing.

Works exactly as you would expect it to work! It does block the flash, but you are able to view it in only one click!
(a pitty that you can't hide the movie after enabling, but refresh the screen, and the flash is back to the hidden state)

Flashblock is the only relief I've gotten from my particular issue.
It is a god send.

My issue has been that Firefox very often bogs down to a crawl -- sometimes to a complete halt, on flash-y pages. The truth of the matter is that sometimes FLASH IS SLOW in Firefox. Oddly, Firefox doesn't bog down all the time?!? (No, there are no other programs running.) The very same pages do not bog down that other browser, which shall remain nameless. So, it couldn't possibly be inadequate hardware. I think that the effect is not so apparent to those with more muscular hardware. It's the only thing that can explain why more people aren't complaining.

I've posted on forums and stuff. The reply has always been that I'm doing something wrong. I've got broadband at home and at work -- 10Mb at home. I've tweaked the about:config settings as recommended by everyone and their uncle. I took a look at s/w firewall settings on my XP PC at home. Nothing there. Besides, the same thing happens on my work PC and it has W2K and no s/w firewall at all. There is a h/w firewall. On the other hand, wouldn't it affect the other browser too?

Anyway, Flashblock works for me. Thanks guys.

Convenient, effective Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Flash creates most of the traffic on too many web sites, using tiny little Flash objects that popover and block the screen. With this extension, you get the default blocking of NoScript, while unblocking is trivially simple (a simple button click). After Adblock Plus, this is the second Add-on I install on every copy of Firefox I use.

I wish I knew about this excellent plugin before. It's really great! What I especially like is that it allows to start only flash modules I need. this is excellent!
Thanks, guys!

Using Flashblock with Firefox 3 beta 5 - big improvement! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Talk about an add-on that returns control to the computer user - great stuff! A friend mentioned that his (otherwise well-running) PC would 'hang' while using the Internet. Some basic troubleshooting showed that after opening a handful of tabs his older desktop (2.7Ghz Celeron-based HP w/1GB of memory) would peg with 100% cpu usage. Not all sites caused the problem, but the NHL.com & youtube.com site would repeatably cause this system to peg cpu utilization at 100% and stay there.

Some more research led me here, and after adding Flashblock to FF 2.0.14 the problem was solved! It seems that some websites are encrusted with spurious Flash running in the sidebars + advertisements, etc, and with enough of these running simultaneously it's easy to flatten older systems with limited CPU power. But the really hot setup is using Flashblock with Firefox 3 beta 5 -- it transforms the way this 5+ year old machine surfs the web -- the performance is more consistent and noticeably faster than a year-old duo-core Vista/SP1 laptop running IE7!

SINCERE CONGRATULATIONS to the authors of Flashblock...and also to the FF 3.0 folks who have done such a great job tightening up the code & chasing down all those memory leaks.

Works beautifully... but one suggestion... let the user choose whether to use a whitelist or a blacklist and, maybe a toolbar button to add the current site to the whitelist or blacklist.

Great application! Works flawlessly as described (OS X Tiger).

The only feature I think Flashblock (1.5.5) lacks is the ability to white-list a single Flash application without white-listing the entire site. With that I'd give it 5 stars.

flashblock MUST HAVE Rated 5 out of 5 stars

this is one of the best extensions i\'ve ever found! these days with flashes that you don\'t even have to click on and they pop into view - flashblock wipes em out! the extra neat feature of click to play is superb. this is how flash SHOULD have been built in the first place.

Perfect. No flaws at all. I honestly love this addon because it blocks annoying flash banners and annoying banners with sounds and videos playing without my permission. I never get annoyed by this addon because I think it works great, I can enable flash content whenever I feel like it without the hassle.

It's also very simple, and straight forward. I hope it stays simple, and stays easy to use, and keep up the good work!
