Instant major improvement Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have an older MacBook with only 2G of memory that I recently resurrected while I wait for my new MacBook Pro. I don't want to install memory for the short term, but it was so slow as to be almost unusable. I installed Flashblock and restarted Firefox and it's night and day. Everything is responsive again.

This was free, but I'd have easily paid $20 for the result I got, even though I only need it for about a week. Total winner.

This extension currently has over 750,000 users, but it doesn't seem to work reliably. I wonder what that really means.

No longer works... Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Was good while it lasted, I just removed and now use the built in option from firefox (ask to activate).

Youtube and NPO uitzendinggemist don't work anymore since some time with Flashblock. HTML5 blocking seems to be bugged.
Switched to FlashControl, that does work.

Never worked 100% Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I've used this for a while now but have finally replaced it with Flash Control because Flash Block has issues with being a clickable element... ie it is sometimes unclickable ( on Youtube it is never clickable unless I remove the element over the video using Element Inspector [ Q ] )...

This doesn't work with Firefox 38 on Mac. I've had to replace it with Flash Control (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/flash-control/), which works almost exactly the same way as Flashblock worked on Firefox 35.

EXCELLENT ALTERNATIVE ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Yes, this is excellent alternative!

TOTALLY FRICKIN AMAZING! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Totally frickin amazing AFTER following the suggestion of another poster that wrote a review here! I hope that it's OK that I paste his comment within mine giving HIM FULL CREDIT?! I FIRST wasted 1.5 hours trying another suggestion in a review here going through my profile as I'm not very savvy! Not ONLY does dini456 suggestion (see below) fix the issue with YouTube , I also LOVE the player! Many thanks goes to dini456!!!!

Not working on youtube again! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Not working on youtube again!
I'm going to remove this addon, and search for a working addon!
A shame the developer doesn't develop this addon any more!

Sorry Flashblock, but I've switched to Flash Control as well Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I had the userContent.css file fix working successfully as well, but frustrating that again it does not work (about 1-2 weeks ago).

Now using Flash Control instead and seems to work 100% with Firefox as is.

RIP: I've given up and switched to Flash Control Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Has been one of the first add-ons I install for as long as I can remember. But I've given up trying to shoehorn this old build into a new Firefox.

Try Flash Control. It seems to do the same thing, without any need to fiddle.

Flashblock is broken again, even edits of the Firefox profile's \CHROME\userContent.css file do not fix all problems.

Until the author fixes it, this is definitely a working alternative:

As broken as Adobe Flash is Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The only thing that'll make Firefox misbehave even more than Flash itself is Flashblock. Activation buttons everywhere but where they actually should be. They almost never work, and there's often no other way to view actually wanted content than uninstalling the whole plugin. Simply disabling it is not enough. Congrats - the developer behind this should give Adobe his resume. I hear they're in the market for quality developers.

I was having a problem with an invisible block covering the player. It was traced to FlashBlock. I contacted the support site, and was given a fix. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1054859
