Needs the option to add more search engines and delete the ones that you don't need.

Does exactly what it should! I'd like to have it open the search in a new page which gets focus, but that's a minor complaint

Context Search Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hello, I write to you regarding your firefox add-on Context Search. I have been using this extension for quite a while now, and I find it to be a very convenient tool. There are though, a couple of things I have found in my experience of this add-on that I'd like to share with you.

Firstly, there is a slight conflict with the 'Organize Search Engines' extension http://tinyurl.com/yt9w5a . The problem is that when I click the middle mouse button on a context search query, which should give focus to the new tab, nothing happens.

I have also found a conflict with the add-on 'MultiSearch' http://tinyurl.com/nykjmy . I find that when I do the same operation as mentioned before, two tabs are opened - one with the search query results, and another which loads the base URL of the search engine.

Lastly, I have a suggestion for a small improvement to the functionality of Context Search. I would like to have the option of changing the behaviour of the left and middle mouse clicks, as I find it more intuitive that the left button should give focus to the new tab rather than the middle click. The middle button could alternatively open the search in a background tab.

Whether or not you decide to make these specific changes, I sincerely hope that you continue to develop this great add-on.

Would be perfect except for one thing: It doesn't respect my preference to switch to the new tab I just opened. So, I middle click the search engine, but I can't immediately see the results. I then have to click the tab that just opened. I would prefer that tab to be opened automatically (according to my Firefox preference). (Note to Ben Basson, the contact link on your page appears to be broken.)

Middle click?

Dan, left clicking the search engine should respect your tab preferences. Middle clicking inverts that preference.

I use this nearly every time I'm on a computer which is basically every day and why the Context Search extension is one of those "must work on the latest version of Firefox or I won't update Firefox until it does" extensions for me. I actually use some of the 58 search engines I have installed frequently and with this I tend to use the others more often than I would without it. If you like to highlight a word or group of words on a site like I do you then you need to try this extension. The only way I can think of to improve on it is to be able to highlight an url and have it open in a background tab, maybe something the developer might consider for a future version?

This is an excellent extension, it is one of my must-haves. This feature should really be built as a standard feature of Firefox. It saves time, is very convenient, and only includes the search plugins that YOU want, based on those you have installed in your search box. LOVE IT!

This is way better than SearchWith. That's more useful and adds whole search list automatically on its right click menu. Thx a million!

This is a great add-on that helps you avoid unnecessary copy/paste and really saves you time. This should be standard in the next generation Firefox! IE8 copied this feature.

Don't know how I ever lived without it Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Ever since I started using Firefox, I've had this extension and used it daily. Context Search is definitely one of the most useful and indispensable extensions for Firefox.
It's simple, but it works, and it adds so much to one's browsing experience.
If I don't recognize movie, I can search for it on IMDB. If I come across an unfamiliar topic, I can search for it on Wikipedia. And ever since Dictionary Tooltip stopped working correctly, I've used Context Search to look up any unknown words.
Frankly, I think this feature should be integrated with Firefox and included with the next version. It simply makes sense.

Excellent. I was looking for a plugin to do exactly this. Why mess around with installing and customizing a right-click search extension, when we already have the search engines we like in the search engine box?
Bravo!

Cool! What about no modifier = open default (or same tab) or give an option to choose what does what?

There are at least 2 other addons that attempt this, and they do it WRONG. This one uses Firefox's built-in search engine database (which you can customize to your heart's content). Why reinvent the wheel? Thank you for writing an actual "EXTENSION" unlike those other developers who have no clue.

I agree with everyone else - this is an extremely useful feature that should become FF's standard context search. Great job, Ben!
