Automatic Save Folder Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This addon (not beta) seems to work on Firefox 50.
It's quite useful if you keep your downloads organized and want to avoid manually changing folders every time.
However, the addon is currently reported as e10 incompatible.
I use various settings like these:
Btw, on a few specific sites, files don't seem to have an extension, so you'll need to add an empty filter for them |
Sometimes a site\filename combo doesn't provide enough info for a fully automatic filter.
deviantart --> D:\Images\art (default)
deviantart --> D:\Images\photos (manual)
deviantart --> D:\Images\cosplay (manual)
A new optional feature like this would be useful:
- if, during download, the user manually chooses a different folder than the one detected, then the addon should remember the new directory for that site for the current session.
Does not work on Ubuntu 16.04 Rated 1 out of 5 stars
All the options will be available, but when it comes to downloads, filters will not be available. I tried adding manual filters, but downloads were not affected.
Funny, It says "This page will only be displayed once" Rated 1 out of 5 stars
A new tab popup shows up when starting a new window. It says "This page will only be displayed once." NOPE. It pops up every time i open new Firefox, which is often. I uninstalled this addon. It is still popping up. I deleted any trace i can find and its getting very frustrating.
EDITED: Finally got rid of it by reinstalling, unfortunately, and uninstalling again.
Opens a tab with addon info EVERY TIME. Please fix,. Rated 2 out of 5 stars
Does what it's supposed to do, but the behavior described in the title is unacceptable. The addon should display help ONCE at most, and then shut up until an update is performed, or never. I have to uninstall until this is fixed.
It works! Rated 4 out of 5 stars
It works, but only beta version from developer site!
P.S.: One thing - does not work "Save Image As..."
Tired of new anoying tabs each time in each browser window Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Awfull new tab in each new browser window with thans and help and other stuff.
Just so annoying made me discard any possible advantage.
Workaround (for possible bug?) Rated 5 out of 5 stars
There may be a bug with the filter Domain = "All". For me it helped to include file names etc in the Domain types list (Options > Page 2) so that it is now "3,1,2,4,5". The standard "1,5" seems to fail if the downloaded file is on a different domain from the active page.This user has 2 previous reviews of this add-on.
Exactly what I need, but does not work. Rated 1 out of 5 stars
I'm using 1.05b Rev 129 and Firefox 46.0.1 (latest stable).
I've set one simple rule to forward *.torrent from all domains to specific folder and there was no result. I've tried all possible options and could not get any dialog on file save, I guess this exception just can not hook up to this event for some reason.
Doesnt do bugger all. Rated 1 out of 5 stars
I created a filter that should catch *.nzb files from any domain, yet it doesn't. It just gives me the normal dialog the way firefox always does when I attempt to download a file. I followed the installation instructions but it didn't seem to do anything.

To the author of Automatic save folder : many thanks for having updated your great addon ;)
To bad it is not signed Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Only unsigned version 1.0.5bRev128 works for me. For now... Next version of Firefox will force me to stop using it.
Not tested propery Rated 1 out of 5 stars
After installation each time I open FireFox -- help page appears.
In 43.0.4 addon seems to be not working: I have "download dialog", but don't have ASF entries there.

Annoying! Rated 1 out of 5 stars
I did not test carefully whether the add-on works. The annoying bad habit that a help page <chrome://asf/content/help/update.xhtml> appears for every newly opened Browser window prompted me to drop the extension short after installation.
Keeps hammering with "thank you for installing" Rated 3 out of 5 stars
I don't know if this add-on does all what is says but the documentation does not say all what it does. In particular every time you launch Firefox it adds a tab to each and every windows saying "thank you for installing ...".
It's really annoying, furthermore when you installed time ago and you launch different sessions with several windows. It keeps adding.
The solution was to remove the add-on. Now it's no longer a pain in the ass.
doesn't work Rated 1 out of 5 stars
followed the instructions. I never see the auto-save-folder option in the save dialogThis user has a previous review of this add-on.

broken add on, can't stop these pop ups even with pop up blockers! Rated 1 out of 5 stars
This sounds great, although FireFox already "does remember the last directory saved from any domain." Still, it seemed like a good add on ...
But! Every new Firefox window gets the promo tab added, and at Firefox launch too. So if you save and restore a session with 5 windows, you get 5 of this add on promo tabs added, and if you didn't close the 5 from last time when you saved, now you have 10 promo tabs. This is terrbile.
Ergo, every time I restart, every window restored gets this blasted "automatic" promo tab attached.
I can't even stop it with "hosts" file or an ad/pop-up blocker.
Each page says in HUGE type: "This page will only be displayed once, on first install or when important changes must be communicated."
Apparently, "import changes" means anytime you run Firefox, or just open a window.
It always appears. For instance, my mail program pops up a compose or reply window. Yes - "Automatic Save Folder" pops up an attached tab promo tab to that too, and changes the window focus too -- ANYTHING and everything in Firefox gets it.
The default behavior should be "NEVER" pop up, or at least let the user decide. As it is now, it is whack-a-mole, and the only way to rid this malware nuisance is by removing the add-on.
Bad, bad, bad idea and implementation.
I see other users have same problem and complaint.

Running under Firefox 30.0 in Ubuntu 14.04... I've read carefully all the docs but can't get it working...
