My Reviews

DownThemAll!

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

some minor glitches stay over the years, but they don't affect the usefulness of this great addon.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.19).

Custom Buttons

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I use some buttons since years. (Clear SearchBar, URL-Tools, Easy Reader (1-click) and some others...)

Now, with FF 43 I feel no difference.

FF is as slow as usual ;-) (Have >40 addons installed)

The buttons, I use work good, since years.

I hope, they will work a lot of years along.

Add-ons Manager Context Menu

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Offers all options which are available. perfect!

Small and useful thing missing:
A shown addon-id should be next to the COPY-ID entry (like mentioned by alta88)

Addons Quick Search

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

does, what it says!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.1.1-signed).

Add-on Preferences Button

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It's a (virtual) pain, that you need to click so many times to finally have a look (or can change) the options of an addon. I always wanted something like a button or a faster way to access the options of an addon.
Now I have found something, which does the job!
Thank you!

Keyword Search

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I installed it and after that, a new tab opened telling me to select a searchengine for the url bar. but my selection from the dropdown (duckduck I chosed) did not work.
So I opened the prefs for the addon and now I see 4 different settings with NO explanation what they do, how they work or how the user can activate them. Ok, I know about the urlbar, but the others I can't imagine what they are for and how I can start them. I'd love to had some (shortish) instructions on how to use the about:home search engine, or the new tab search engine, but I have no clue.
URL bar search works as expected and proposed.
Thank you.

EDIT: now, with a little more explanation from the dev, my understanding is better, how usefull this addon really is.

Paste to Tab and Go

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

...but I wish, there were some icons (placeable in the toolbars) to click, instead fiddeling around with the context menu items.
so its kinda inconvenient to use this convenient addon :-)

Clip to OneNote

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

anyway, it might be a useful addon, so 4 stars. (windows only -1, third party software needed -2)

Addons Recent Updates

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I don't like the ff behaviour to keep important information off the users eyes.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.6.1-signed).

New Plugin Disabler

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

...it disabled an adobe plugin, which barefacely nested itself into my firefox installation on the mac.
great! i knew, why I installed this little peace of code! thanks a lot.

RequestPolicy

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I use it some months now and must say, its great to know all the sites which want to crawl into my browsers cache (and maybe somewhere else)!
The placeholders for i.e. images are great. If you hover over a placeholder, you can read the source of the image and then decide to switch that site on in the preferences very quickly.

I'm only missing a sync feature. Im-/Exporting is possible though, but I'm working with my MAC the whole day and after work its very inconvenient/time-consuming to export and import the black- or whitelist to my PC

Beside this, its a great addon and its greatly helps users to get a clue whats "behind" the page, they're surfing!

QuickFolders (Tabbed Folders)

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Ok, I use this sind 1 or 2 years and today I just write, that this piece of Software is a very useful addon!
It does what it said. Thank you for developing this for us!
You can reach all the folders you need very quick and you can even move messages to the shown folders.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.11).

RequestPolicy

this is a great plugin. i wished, i had discovered it bevore no-script, because this one is intuitive *and* not that bloated (no-script has a lot more features maybe, but i only "need" those here in the extension, so don't get me wrong, no-script is still a goodie!).
another user wrote, that working with this plugin is much work, which is true, but for me, it is important not to switch of my brain and get important information out of the little red icon in the status-bar of firefox. the log-console is great too!
i only wished, it would sync via firefox-sync, because doing all the clicking/allowing/denieing work could be a hassle, altough the plugin comes with good and common presets for user which don't want to be hassled from the very begining :-)
i like it. thank you mr. developer!

Disable Add-on Compatibility Checks

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great! Works!
I came here, because "Add-on Compatibility Reporter (ACR)" does not offer the most useful feature anymore, but I needed a way to use "old" addons because the Mozilla-Crew decided to turn their back on their users and really annoy them every release with some new burden.

-1 Star, because the addon installs itself under "checkcompatability", while the addon-webpage calls it "Disable Add-on Compatibility Checks" and it took me quite some time to find this addon in the addon-manager.

Remove Duplicate Messages

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Ok, this addon pretty old and not updated to the new TB UI,
BUT it DOES work while searching for duplicates and find almost all dupes.
the new alternate version (developed by somebody else) has quite a nicer and updated gui, but lacks in finding the simplest dupes (just 50%).
so this version is needed too, if you want to find 95% of your dupes.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.10).

Remove Duplicate Messages

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

nice idea, works ok.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3.7).

Linky

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

quite a nice addon (since years) but they are missing features (since years, too :-) ).
5stars:
-1 for not being able to apply a pattern (filter) without erasing the previous selection. (all previous work is lost after a new pattern is applied. that sucks, dude!)
-1 for not beeing able to just say: select/deselect all links above/below the actual focussed link via right click.
-1 for not being able to add some text to the links, while removing text is possible.

anyways, 2 stars are too less for this addon, so i add 1 for sympathy :-)

Thunderbird Conversations

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

do a backup before you try this piece of $*§$%#

it might be a useful extension, but i can't get used to it.
i read in the introduction (the german translation, but i assume, its the same text in the original language (english?)) and was told, that it will restore your original settings when deinstalling.
well, i did uninstall and guess what happened.
i'm stuck with all the settings i do not need and can't change it back to my settings.
my tb is now a useless piece of software because of this extension.
(i installed the extension again to revert the settings, but guess: no way to do it... of course, the author posts some faq here, and i hope, it will help, but why do i have to do the work, he promised to do? that sucks. really! )

BrowsrBounce

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

doesnt work.

after installing and restarting thunderbird, i had to double right-click to see the contextmenu.
also, there was no suitable link to click to open the link under the cursor.
deinstalling it and it was the normal one-right-click again.
the full-path-to-browser does not have a browse-feature. user has to know and type the path. yak!
also, the mentioned portable %drive%-variable doesnt make clear, if the variable contains :\ so the user has only to enter %drive%path, or %drive%:\path ....

2 stars for the good idea.
minus 3 stars for the userunfriendlyness.
