Not compatible Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The Addon stopped working a few weeks ago. As I can't find any good CalDAV alternative I'm kind of stuck to Lightning. But it would be good if we could get some stable version some time. The Developer says version 5.4 is compatible with TB 52.0 - 52.* but it's not working with 52.5.0.

It's kind of sad to see how it's going from a flickering not usable Addon to a not installable Addon.

But if it will work again some day, it deserves some 5 star rating.

Thanks anyway.

10 years bug without solution.... Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Dommage pour un bon produit par ailleurs de laisser traîner si longtemps un bug aussi grossier.
Pity not to have corrected a so aged bug :
CSV export doesn't manage the 24h date format : 20h30 become 8h30 !

I like and depend on Lightning, it is quite realiable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

A solid, feature rich calendar add on for Thunderbird. I depend on it to keep my poor (80 yr old) memory straight.
It has tasks and appointments. when a notice pops up I have a time minutes, hours, days, I can select before the notice pops up again.

I only have an issue with the Thunderbird developers who without warning removed Lightning in the last update, but do not always do this.
It was easy enough to find and reinstall it, but I should have been warned.
Lightning is just great.

Danke und Anregung Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Vielen Dank erst mal für dieses Tool. Super Arbeit.

All day task Rated 4 out of 5 stars

One can set task date to "All day" by defining due moment, but not start moment.

However, it's strange to me that the check-button "All day" appears right after I pressed "Save and close" independent on start-finish dates specified. This check-button is invisible during editing completely. And with a blink of an eye one can see this button appears for a moment when task editor closes.

That's quite bad.

Unusable because of too many popups when using Lightning with CalDAV Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Sorry that this is kind of a rant, but my first use of Lightning for a while was quite the disappointment: When I try to sync my (ownCloud-)CalDav calendar, first, lots of notifications about past events pop up. I can click those away, so minor annoyance, but ok.

But then, apparently in a loop, messages appear about some changes being about to be synced to my server (I didn't change any of the events locally, so no idea why Lightning thinks they have changed, or changed them itself?). These messages keep on coming in a steady flow, making the program unusable. And even when I click through them (clicking the "Dont sync" option, as I didn't do any changes and therefore don't want anything to be changed, obviously), they reappare after a minute or so.

Meaning that with my CalDav calendar set up, Thunderbird becomes unusable because of reappearing popups.

I only did a quick search so far what could be the matter, but this behavior caused me to loose trust in Lightning, so I won't be using it again in the near future - why would it think my events were changed, or would change them itself? And even if there is a legitimate reason for that (which it should inform me about) why would it show a single popup for each of them? After the first one or two it should notice that it's got too many popups in the queue and just stop and ask _once_).

All day caldav tasks Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great tool, but I can't create all day task stored in caldav server (NextCloud). Looks like all tasks need to have date AND time set. All day task has got only date.
Is there a way to do this?

great Rated 5 out of 5 stars

great google integration

Worsening with age, indeed Rated 3 out of 5 stars

It is a fine idea and has a nice interface. BUT:
I have a GoogleCal with more than 2000 entries. (You may say, I shouldn't, but I do and probably many others as well. Google is apparently feeding these in time order, which means "most irrelevant first".) And I need to integrate a dozen other institutional calendars as well in my daily and weekly agenda.
This makes the plugin almost unusable, because:
* It takes too much time to download the iCal stream. Compared to the pure download time (with curl or wget), it is orders of magnitude longer. So the handling/decoding must be badly implemented.
* During download the whole application is stuck intermittently and issues a warning ("blocked script").
* There seems to be no caching of calendars.
Under these circumstances, this plugin supposes that Thunderbird is started well before (30'?) the productive work can begin.

awesome! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

been using this for long time with google integration. This addon is just perfect, i highly recommend to use this to everyone.

Thank you!

Use the 5.4.2.1-candidate if you can't do without Lightning in TB 52.2.1 and can't wait Rated 4 out of 5 stars

A working candidate build is available at http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/calendar/lightning/candidates/5.4.2.1-candidates/ just drop the appropriate xpi link in your Extensions tab in Thunderbird

Thunderbird disappears Rated 5 out of 5 stars

If you enjoy using Lightning with Thunderbird, don't allow Thunderbird to update. Lightning may not be supported, and your calendar is removed without warning!!

LIghtning - worse with age Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Latest Lightning a memory-leaking liability, must disable to keep Win Thunderbird process from steadily consuming increasing & obscene amounts of memory. Hard to know if add-on or Lightning<->Thunderbird interop at fault, but bottom-line is the pair are increasingly unreliable and unusable together.

Good luck! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have used TB and Lighting for a very long time. I'm happy, though sometimes it's not all right. Thank you to developers and I wish you a lot of luck in solving "I want it for free and immediately" requirements :)

Kubuntu 16.10 + TB 52.1.1 (64-Bit) + Lightning 5.4 No Date Time Popups Rated 4 out of 5 stars

All software latest versions. It all seems to work except that there are no more date time popups when entering or editing an event.

Since a few months back, the core functions of lightning have been broken for me Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Since a few months ago, the Calendar and Tasks menu items under view have been greyed out when I have lightning installed. As a result, I can only see my events in the sidebar view, not as part of a broader calendar. I've updated thunderbird to the latest version, disabled and re-enabled lightning, removed and reinstalled lightning, and nothing has helped. I would like to rate it higher, because for quite some time it did what I needed it to do- but lacking a functional calendar view as such means the addon isn't what I need it to be.

Cannot Import CSV Files Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Lightning 5.4 will not import CSV files into Thunderbird 52. I encountered the most verbose and incomprehensible error message ever.

As a test, I manually created some events in Lightning and then exported them as a CSV file. When I deleted the calendar and then tried to re-import the saved CSV file, Lightning would not even import the file it just created!

Had to roll back to TBird 45.8 and Lightning 4.7.8. All is well once again.

This site claims that Lightning 5.4 works with Thunderbird 52.0, but in practice, they do not seem to play well together yet. More work needed.
