the best one !!

Not recommended. Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I thought at first it looked like a good extension; it isn't. Why?

The top group titled "feeds" will not permit me to organize my feeds into groups without creating an entirely different group below it just to put them into categories. Having two sets of identical feeds, one in a general listing, and the other in my own organizational structure isn't the way to do things.

I have a large number, and wading through a nearly-endless list does not rank very high on my list of favorite things to do. So this turned me off entirely on the extension.

Then, when I uninstalled it, disaster struck.

It took all of my extensions and themes with it. I can't began to state how ticked off I was.

In hindsight, I see what happened. When you install it, it creates (by default) a folder within your profile to save settings and RSS feed locations. Well, logical, right?

Not when it takes the entire profile folder with it when you uninstall NewsFox. Brilliant piece of engineering, guys. *sarcastic*

If it were possible to give this a negative rating, I would have done so.

Very good Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very good news reader.

Just a little feature request, instead of "Refresh all streams when starting", there should be an option "Refresh all streams when starting if they are older than the automatic frequency of refresh".

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.4.1).

Option unneeded

"Refresh all streams when starting" is a legacy option - you don't need it. When you use auto-refresh, streams older than the auto-refresh interval will automatically be checked when starting.

Addition does not work in FirefoxPortable 3.0.5... Also it is very a pity.

Works fine for me with FirefoxPortable 3.0.5, see https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=20421.

Great reader. Unlike the others, this does its job, and well.
Easy to use, quick, and pretty nice overall.

Works for me

Works fine for me with 3.1 beta1. Of course, you need to edit the install.rdf if you're a beta user or don't read the NewsFox feed.

It's good! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I experienced "wizz", "saze" and some other rss addons. And this is the best! And what's awesome is that it's filter! It works well though I didn't configured it. It's fast, comfort and powerful!
Thanks and best regard to the author!

Like it the features, but its true taht it takes a lot of CPU on my system! Please improve!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.4.1).

Have not seen this

I have never seen this even on old CPUs. Uncheck enable interest filter in options > general > enable interest filter as this is really the only thing that uses much CPU at all.

If you have Firebug installed, see also https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=17877
although I don't know if Firebug still has this bug.

DO NOT UPDATE TO 1.0.4 WITHOUT KEEPING A BACKUP FIRST! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I updated minutes ago to 1.0.4 from 1.0.3.1 and it ate all the older-than-10-days unread posts I was keeping from a wordpress feed. I had the feed set to "do not delete old entries" and the new version ignored it completely! WTF?!?!
For the record, my rating is 0/5 but some weird reason the system won't allow it.

Slow downloads, poor performance, sux up most of my CPU Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The more I use this addon, the less I like. It is a 3 pane RSS reader, but it is super slow in downloading feeds, suck up 90% of a CPU on a dual core system, and randomly seems to hang or get "busy" doing something. I am using 1.0.3.1 version, but have to suggest maybe some other RSS reader may be a better choice. If this thing had the functionality of Mozilla Thunderbird so that articles could be cached locally, and speed of access & download was fast, it would be a much better product. Look elsewhere.

works, but Slow & clunky and annoying Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Pros: Does work as a 3 pane RSS reader

Cons: Slow, tends to lock up Firefox, takes a really long time to update the feeds, sometimes locks up or crashes Firefox. Moving between articles is quite slow as it appears nothing is cached locally. The feeds that are shows only show articles from the past couple of days, there does not seem to be a mechanism for getting feeds previous available.

could you make storage to be sql based(not xml), and listview to be lazy, so it is possible to have feed with thousands of entries ?

and add option not to index entries for tags ? with my set of feeds it takes long time....

SQLite discussion in forum

Please comment over here for SQLite: http://newsfox.mozdev.org/drupal/content/use-sqlite-storage.

Tags shouldn't cause any slowdown.

A good positioning Rated 5 out of 5 stars

NewsFox is successfully positioned itself as an appropriate feed reader for most advanced users (e.g. having more than 50 feeds...) while it is still easy to use.

Its filtering by keyword or interest really help me a lot in identifying what I want most.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.4.1).

Both should already be there

1. Installed automatically unless there is a problem encountered on your system.

2. Main options, general tab. It is 16x16 with no decoration when using the normal CSS.

I agree. This is a best reader ever. This kick google and others 100-0.
What can I say, just try and then you keep it.
