URL Fixer 4.1.1-signed No Restart
URL Fixer fixes common typos in URLs entered in the address bar. It will fix errors like "google.con" or "youtube,com". You have the option of being asked to confirm corrections before they are applied.
About this Add-on
This version will correct common misspellings of .com, .net, .org, .edu, .gov, .mil, and all other mainstream TLDs, as well as the protocol (http:, https:). By right-clicking on the address bar, you can set it to auto-correct your errors, or you can have it ask you before making any corrections.
You can specify your own set of custom corrections. Add or remove your own corrections in URL Fixer's options dialog, accessible via Tools » Add-ons » URL Fixer » Preferences.
You can also correct errors as they happen; if Firefox can't find the website you typed in, URL Fixer lets you mark that URL as a typo, and you'll never see that error page again.
* Wrong corrections are saved now, URL Fixer will no longer repeat the same mistake.
* Implemented work-around for some extensions doing crazy things (especially Tab Mix Plus).
* Fixed SeaMonkey support.
* Don't show suggestion to fix typos on "Document expired" error pages.
The Development Channel lets you test an experimental new version of this add-on before it's released to the general public. Once you install the development version, you will continue to get updates from this channel. To stop receiving development updates, reinstall the default version from the link above. - Version 4.1.1a.306-beta:
To create your own collections, you must have a Mozilla Add-ons account.
By default, URL Fixer does not collect any data about you or the webpages you visit. However, if you opt in and allow URL Fixer to begin collecting data to improve its correcting ability, URL Fixer will save the domain names that you type in the URL bar. (i.e., if you type "http://www.google.com/test?a=1", URL Fixer will only save "www.google.com.")
URL Fixer then sends this data to a central location where it is combined with the data from all other URL Fixer users, leaving no way to determine which user typed a specific domain. This data is then used to generate statistics on which typos occur most often and how URL Fixer could correct them most efficiently. Your participation improves the browsing experience for you and more than 100,000 other URL Fixer users!
URL Fixer does not save or send any data in Private Browsing mode.
You can change your opt-in settings at any time from URL Fixer's preferences window. If you have any questions at all, contact me at email@example.com.
