Still one of my favorite addons. Works great on Firefox ESR 24.5.0. Go to authors website to download lastest version. Not sure why it's not here, been out a long time.

FF29 compatibility? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Despite the warning that it won't work, I have been using Plain Old Favorites with Firefox v28 just fine. My problem is with the switch to v29. I have reinstalled v28 and turned off the automatic update because of this. For reasons I won't go into, I need to work sometimes in IE, sometimes in Firefox, and I don't want to bother maintaining two parallel sets of Bookmarks/Favorites, so Plain Old Favorites is essential to me. Can anybody say when will it be adapted to v29?

It has worked great for me until FF (firefox) went to version 28.0 Now it does not work and was causing my FF not to even open at all. I like plain old favorites much better than FF bookmarks. Please update to make compatible

Thanks Gregsto. That worked a charm even for version 27 of Firefox. Glad to have my Favorites back.

Many Thanks Alex!

Additional temp work around for Favorites only displaying alphabetically on Win8 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Issue: On (some?/all?) Windows 8/8.1 installations, the PlainOldFavorites Extension will display Favorites alphabetically even though the 'Sort by name' checkbox in the extension's 'Options' is unchecked.

Possible Workaround:
Open Windows Explorer(not IE), open the folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\ (or wherever you have installed Firefox)
Then right click on 'firefox.exe', select 'Properties', then select the 'Compatibility' tab,
then check the box 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:', and select 'Windows 7' in the dropdown selection box.
Click 'OK', restart Firefox and check if the Favorites are now displaying in the sorted order you prefer.

While this worked for me to get this extension to display my Favorites in the order I prefer(non alphabetically), I can NOT guarantee that Firefox 'may' lose some Windows 8/8.1 specific functionality, on the other hand, I'm not aware as of yet of any functionality of Windows 8/8.1 that Firefox 'does' take advantage of.
Please reply if you notice this workaround affects/looses any specific functionality due to setting the compatibility to 'Windows 7'.

A must-have add-on for people working with both Firefox and IE. v1.3.1 from the author's site (http://www.iosart.com/firefox/plainoldfavorites/) is working fine for me with FF25. The author has always made a new version available from their site any time a FF update has caused an issue in the past. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Temporary Fix Rated 5 out of 5 stars

You can get PlainOldFavorites to work by simply doing the following:

1: Install version 1.4 from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/plainoldfavorites/versions/

2: Right click anywhere in your toolbar and click customise.

3: Drag the Favourites button to wherever you want it in your toolbar and click Done.

Still not working, pls fix Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I tried the latest version you mentioned, but no go. The word "Favorites" appeared in the menu, but there were no items in it when clicked. When working this was a great add-on!

MOA - which of those old versions worked for you?

The latest fix kit of 1.4.1 does NOT work with FireFox 24

for those of you who really care about this addon, you can use firefox ESR(Extended Support Release) version until the author update it

No more updates? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This is such a great and useful add-on, one of my top 3 favorites and most-used. However, it hasn't worked for the last several Firefox updates. It says the last update was in 2011...have you given up? This is the only add-on of its kind, and so hard to work around without it. Please update! :-)
(Only gave 1/2 of the deserved 5 stars because there hasn't been an update in sooo long.)

No button available on ver. 1.3.1, but you can find your Favorites in the Menu Bar. Yeah, you have more clicks to do, which makes it more annoying, but it should be there, right next to Bookmarks. Hopefully, Alex will make 'Add to your Favorites' choice finally available when we right-clicked a page on his next update. And by the way... I have no idea where some of you found ver. 1.4.1 - I go directly to his website for update, and it's nowhere to be found. Looks legit. though..

POF v1.2 NOT WORKING AT ALL with Firefox v22 = = =
Yes, as noted before (THX!) I required POF version 1.3 to get it working properly with FF v22. = = =
See http://www.iosart.com/firefox/plainoldfavorites/ for version 1.3

I have workaround the above issue by moving the bookmarks Toolbar item to the navigation bar and remove all unwanted links. This work quite fine as I don't use the bookmarks toolbar before.
