As of Firefox 29, Movable Firefox Button should be made compatible with the extension Classic Theme Restorer.
This would bring new life into Movable Firefox Button.
This add-on has the potential to be the best of its kind.
Unfortunately it's awfully slow as it takes up to 4 seconds to display the translation.
This issue hasn't been improved or solved in the newest version (1.0.4).
It's a shame this extension stopped working with Firefox 15.
Update: Thanks for the quick reply, Fabian. I'm looking forward to the fix. And thanks for continuing development of this extension. Its functionalities are hard to live without once you get used to them :-)
After development of gmail manager seems to have stopped, this is the only extension that seems to give me a similar usability.
It does things a bit differently, but I have quickly come to terms with this, though I still miss the option to click the icon once to login, and a second time (when I'm logged in) to open up the gmail inbox in a tab. I have to look in sub menus in order to open up the inbox.
The settings doesn't give me a choice to change the behaviour to the description I gave, and this is what makes Gmail Checker get 4/5 stars.
All in all an otherwise great extension with both its simplicity being one of its strengths but at the same time causing it to fall short on flexibility.
It's a great translator extension, but when using it Firefox memory usage raises to about 500 MB on my laptop.
That's about twice as much as Firefox uses when I disable this extension.
As for now I have it disabled, waiting for an update to fix this memory leak.
I've placed the button on the tab bar, though I've had to turn on the "always show the tab bar" setting, otherwise the button disappears whenever I've got only one tab open.
I guess there's no workaround?
If only the button could 'count' as a tab...
For the time being, one can get the same functionality with Download Manager TweakThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.0.9). This user has a previous review of this add-on.
Tried and succeeded in installing it in Firefox 4, and it kind of works, but it's not possible to distinguish the tab in focus from the other unfocused tabs.It seems that not a lot has to be done to make this extension compatible with Firefox 4, so please update it. I can't believe this extension hasn't meet more popularity!
I think the popups of the similar extension aFewClicksAway are more delicately crafted with its rounded edges, thin borders and choice of default colours.
GD>'s advantage is its simplicity, though it would be nice to be able to hide the bottom link and the 'more' link in the popup to complete the streamlined look.
This is a great, yet simple extension, which handles an issue I've been having since I updated to Firefox 4: lack of status bar (Yes, it's been replaced with add-on bar).
Download Manager Tweak can be used in addition to FaviconiceTab, which, if you plot in "chrome://mozapps/content/downloads/downloads.xul" into the 'Auto Faviconice' list in FaviconiceTab's options, will make the download manager start in a pinned tab on the tab bar, if you in Download Manager Tweak's options have set the download manager to open in a tab, that is.
Icons equivalent to the default icons in Firefox 4
As others say, "open in new tab" would be nice.
Also the ability to open link in background, which I would really appreciate.
Besides that is it a good extension which I have been using for quite some time.
The 'leaving blank space behind' bug needs to be corrected, otherwise this simple extensions works well.
A little, simple request: by default, Firefox 4 pins the tabs on the App Tab, i.e. to the left of the regular unpinned tabs.Wouldn't it be natural and appropriate to see this 'feature' in FaviconizeTab?
With all the major browsers' general step away from the status bar and extra windows e.g. the download manager window,
the need for an extension like this one is significantly important.
Why isn't this important extension being updated?
Who will take on the development?
