RSS Ticker

Just Short of Perfect Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Beautiful on a high spec machine with a good connection, and polite to older computers when options are optimized.

However it requires some things:

The user should be able to use 'Limit the number of items for feed' in a manner that is feed specific. People can have a lot of interests, but prefer one over the other. For example, I'm interested in current world events than video games, so I should be able to see more NPR and AP items than Kotaku items.

Greater freedom to move the ticker. For example if you're running Aero Glass, the 'preview hover' of the Taskbar (which you cannot turn off without registry editing) is not so much an issue that it's close to the Status Bar, because generally the elements on it are notifications or options that are rarely selected. However, I put my mouse near the Ticker rather often, if just to preview a story or open, and it's rather annoying when this is prevented because my mouse overshoots a few pixels. So an option over the status bar would be better in this case than under. I could select to put it near the upper menu bars, but I may be more habituated with it on the bottom of my TV news channels.

This program can do a lot for you, or it can little for you. Few extensions are as well designed as to play both the 'cosmetic' and 'utility' cards so well.
