Dead pages, broken links, the scourge of the internet. Powerhouse sites like Slashdot and Digg can bring a server to its knees. What do we do when a page is dead but we still want to see it? Call in the clerics, and perform a resurrection...
Collector's Note There are two addons that let you open a cached version of a webpage(i.e. a snapshot of a webpage, that now doesn't exist or would not open, taken in the past) - ErrorZilla Plus and Resurrect pages. Both use 5-6 services like Google cache, Wayback machine etc. to show you cached pages. Both do so by adding links to the error page that shows up when you fail to connect to a webpage. The advantage of "Resurrect pages" is that it opens the cached page for each of the 5-6 services in a separate tab, thus allowing you to try all services quickly. The advantage of "ErrorZilla Plus" is that it also adds a Proxy button for you to open the webpage using a proxy service in case the website is inaccessible at your location/your country.
After you installed this addon to your Firefox, bookmarks are opened in new tab always.
Bypass compulsory web registration with the context menu via www.bugmenot.com.
Collector's Note Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. BugMeNot also provides a bookmarklet.
