NoScript Security Suite by Giorgio Maone

The best security you can get in a web browser!
Allow active content to run only from sites you trust, and protect yourself against XSS and Clickjacking attacks.
Collector's Note The most powerful addon to manage Javascripts. However, 2-3 years ago Mozilla declared it one of the addons that slow down the startup of Firefox, although it does not affect browsing speed once startup has already occurred. Also conflicts with some other addons and bookmarklets until you change the settings to allow those addons/bookmarklets to work. Recommended for experienced users. If you are inexperienced, just choose Ghostery or QuickJava and roll on.

Ghostery by Ghostery

Increase your browsing privacy, protection, and speed.
Collector's Note Breaks some pages. You wouldn't notice such a problem unless you are a very very heavy surfer. Even if you do notice a problem, it can easily be disabled from working on that particular website. Many people like the fact thant unlike NoScripts you do not have to change settings for each and every page you visit.

QuickJava by Doug G

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 202 reviews

283,526 users

Allows quick enable and disable of Java, Javascript, Cookies, Image Animations, Flash, Silverlight, Images, Stylesheets and Proxy from the Toolbar. This is great for increasing security or decreasing bandwidth.
Collector's Note My personal favourite. Gives you 5 small and beautiful buttons to enable/disable Javascript, Java, Flash, Silverlight and Images on any webpage. If space on the addon bar is no problem for you choose this. Also see my review for Plugins Toggler.

Flashblock by Philip Chee

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 1,210 reviews

Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on...
Collector's Note If you do not like to disable Flash plugin but want Flash content to load only when you permit, this is the plugin for you.

Low Quality Flash by mausmalone

Sets Flash objects to "Low Quality" to improve performance on slower platforms (i.e. older computers, netbooks, and Firefox Mobile).

Plugins Toggler by Trinh Nguyen

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 21 reviews

3,309 users

Adds a toolbar button to manage installed plugins.

After installation, the button is placed in your Customise Toolbar window (View/Toolbars/Customise...). You need to open this window and drag it to your preferred location in the main toolbar.
Collector's Note Only one button to quickly enable or disable any of your 16-20 plugins. The list of plugins rolls out from the button when you click it and you can then enable or disable any of them as you like. Advantages over QuickJava are 1. Controls all plugins and not just the 5 most important ones 2. Saves space because unlike QuickJava which has 5 buttons, it has only one button.
