mixup Rated 4 out of 5 stars
i used Procon latte to stop my kids from getting on to sites i didn't want them to and it works perfectly for that, it wasn't soon after that i found a more brilliant solution, if you download the Procon add on and the leech block add on it all fits very well, the combination is brilliant you get the white list and the profanity filter from Procon and ad blocking and time filtering from leech block, the 2 become a perfect parental control system, just make sure you have your own custom block page for each add onThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (22.214.171.124).
Two Areas for Improvment Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This is a very good product. I took it through a lot of testing and found only two areas needing improving. Both areas has the potential of creating serious and dangerous situations. First, some web page shows before the filtering is completed. For example, with Java script enabled, the following web page related to religious music shows for about 10 seconds before it detects my keyword filter, "movies": (http://music.yahoo.com/track/609630).
The second area needing improving is the main filter itself. It does not work on some web pages. For example, on the website (http://www.minitex.umn.edu/mnlink/), you to search for any kind of material and the results of the search will be clearly displayed without any filtering regardless of how ProCon Latte 126.96.36.199 is set up. Neither the Main Filter or the Profanity Filter works on this site. Some of the search results on this website have pdf files that can be directly downloaded on your computer.
Overall its a good product and I plan to give a financial donation after these two areas are corrected.
Real Good Extension Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Great Extension, The Ultimate Parental Control ! But If The Creator Of This Extension Can Make It Work With Firefox 3.0b2pre It Will Be Much Better For All Users That Upgrade To Firefox 3.0b2pre ! Thanks. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (188.8.131.52).
Very Good, Though Imperfect Rated 4 out of 5 stars
ProCon Latte isn't perfect. It misses some profanity on some pages, it filters a lot of legit sites, and its password system is somewhat cumbersome. But it is without a doubt the simplest and best all-around solution I have found thus far. Kudos to the developer; I hope it continues to evolve and improve. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (184.108.40.206).
actualy, not so good Rated 4 out of 5 stars
browser first show all content and only after that it is blocked by addon.
Ok. Seems the problem is partially fixed, but still flash objects are rendered before filtering. (Addon flashblock is installed)
From version 220.127.116.11, ProCon has a functionality where the web page will be rendered after the filtering, without affecting the browsing speed at all! Hope you'll enjoy it.
Profanity Filter Rated 4 out of 5 stars
A little help here-
I'm using the profanity filter and while procon will block out the word f-word as the first word appearing in sentence one, a same word appearing again in the same sentence doesn't get blocked.
I'm noticing this a lot in other words.
Are there any special .* keywords to put in?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Good, but needs work Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This is a great start to making the internet kid-safe. I would like to draw the developers attention to one short-coming: The profanity filter. If you run the profanity filter through the wikipedia page for "Profanity" at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profanity
Many of the words (F*** for example), remain unfiltered in some, but not all circumstances. Given that word substitution is a very simple operation in both Perl and Python, there appears to be a fundamental problem in the filter. However generally this tool is a big step up, and I will be using it for our child, but I look forward to improvements.

icebandit, I assume you are using the default list, so as you said the profanity filter will not censor those words. Now, if you go in the (profanity) filter list, to the \"F\" word try adding \".*\" to it. So \"F---.*\" This will act as a wild char, thus enabling the filter to detect all other words related to that one. If you do this, reload the Wikipedia page, you will see that the other \"F\" words are censored as well.\r\n\r\nP.S. I would really love to know how to use Python in the extension development. That could save me a load of time. =)\r\n\r\nGod bless,\r\n Corvineum
Awesome add-on Rated 5 out of 5 stars
It's a wonderful feeling being about to surf the internet and not have some offensive material pop-up in your face that shouldn't have been there in the first place.
My list of sites blocked: porn, cuss words, anti-Christian sites, gambling and every other idiotic site out there.
The internet is now a much more peaceful place, just seeing good stuff.
Excellent program Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This is a simple program which is very effective at blocking offensive web content.
My only complaint is that it is extremely easy to disable.
Exelent! Rated 4 out of 5 stars
i love this, now i can look at what ever i want , and simply activate when my younger brother gets on.
the only problem for me is it does not show text next to the checkboxes so i have to go to the website, so a solid 8 from me!
Great Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great Software! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I'm a teacher and need to keep students on certain websites. The white list feature of ProCon Latte is exactly what I was looking for!
Hopeful solution. Minor Problems. Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This add-on has a sufficient list of features to protect kids from adult material. However, I found several important problems:
1. Word Censoring mode briefly shows you the unaltered web page, complete with bad words, then
it will quickly asterisk out the bad words.
This part doesn't work that seamless.
2. Word Censoring mode seems to not work at all in frames!
3. Explicit Material Filtering seems to catch legit pages. Pages get blocked and asks you for the password. However, ProCon doesn't have a way to inform you as to which bad word caused the block to happen. Hard to iron figure out which bad word was the offending word.
Procon is excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars
The software is simple and easy to use; The functionality is wonderful. You can ban porn sites and key words. making a custom shorter list of words is recommended if you want friendly surfing with the power of decent protection.
Excellent tool, and a must for anyone with kids. Spend a few minutes and your kids are good to go.
