Best Add-On of All Time Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Adobe's plug-in will non install correctly, or Firefox is unable to recognize it. Either way, it is extremely annoying to have to download every pdf file you click on, and then manually erase each one. This has happened on more than one of our machines (all Intel-based Macs). Tried uninstalling and reinstalling more than once, as well as all of the other trouble-shooting steps that were recommended, but none of them worked. Downloaded this add-on and set the default action to "open pdf" and the problem was fixed in 2 minutes...This review is for a previous version of the add-on (184.108.40.206).
no ads plx Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Yet another extension misusing FF for advertising;
Not much better than the data-farmer ones.
As has been mentioned: configuring FF's built in handler under Options -> Applications does the job just fine.
Why? Rated 1 out of 5 stars
The most useless extension that everyone seems to be using. Yes, it does what it says, but why would you need it? Just right-click the link and save the file if you want to. If you're having trouble with the stupid Adobe PDF plugin, then I suggest you just don't use it at all. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (220.127.116.11).

This add-on corrupts PDF on this website(last link on the website):
I'm not sure.... Not yet rated
I really WAS interested until I saw the reviews..
Ad-ware? Saving links in stead of documents?? Gibberish??? I'm not sure I'm ready to try that...
And then the author requests that people put comments on his official site... Sure, he wants to keep the bad news away from the Mozilla site, so people don't know about it before dl-ing.
He wants the ADVANTAGE of publishing here, but not the responsibility that comes with it?... He should be prepared to check in here regularly... as should all plug-in authors.
So, mostly the attitude turns me off... Now I'm sure I'm not ready for this. 1 for the effort, because you DID make me look.
Problems downloading Not yet rated
I receive a hash error and the download fails each time I try it??? Happens on more than one machine. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (18.104.22.168).
Not that useful Rated 2 out of 5 stars
I used to use it, but do not anymore. Firstly, it does not offer significant advantages over normally clicking a file and if needed asking Firefox to open it up. Secondly, it feels more of an adware then a conveniently discrete add-on.
If you handle a lot of PDF files, it could be worthwhile. But for the few files I handle, this does not offer any value. I give it a 4 because I understand that others' experience may vary.
it wasn't very good Rated 1 out of 5 stars
it doesn't work for me. saves pdf's as links to download it so it goes in a circle so to speakThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (22.214.171.124).
Annoying Updates Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Great idea, worked awesome, but WAY too many updates. Four updates in two months, and it worked just as well before the updates. Multiply that by 4 computers and it just gets too annoying because it prevents Firefox from starting automatically when the computer is turned on.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (126.96.36.199).
pdf files Rated 2 out of 5 stars
I thought I'd like this little add on after I first installed it. But then I received a pdf file from Germany and when I printed it all the German text came out in gibberish - unacceptable!
I then opened the file in Adobe Reader 8 and everything looked fine. Something is wrong with this add on and I unloaded it in a hurry.
This Add-on is Signed! Amazing Rated 5 out of 5 stars
The implied quality of this add-on has just gone up to the top. Why? Because the author bothered to digitally sign it.
I think every add-on published on the Firefox site should be required to be signed!
Great Extension although I wish they hadn't associated with Nitro Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Overall a great extension but I preferred the older versions that weren't involved with Nitro software as they didn't expand the size of the Tools menu and didn't display rather annoying ads whenever I use the extension for HTML viewing or other uses. Still a great extension but maybe return to the old setup. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (188.8.131.52).

works for me Rated 4 out of 5 stars
does everything I need. Has been great for getting around those pdf downloads that freeze the browser. The only problem I have seen is with some articles that give the option to view as pdf but then somehow tie in an ad-bar, the add-on doesn't know how to handle those, but the fix is just to use the [bypass pdf] button. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (18.104.22.168).
Finally! Rated 4 out of 5 stars
No more waiting for Firefox to decide what it's doing when I open or close a PDF in the browser. Two thumbs up for making my life a lot less stressful! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (22.214.171.124).
Not everything I hoped for Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This almost does everything it says. Works well when you find a link on a website to a PDF however . . . if you find a PDF from a search engine, it doesn't work as well. For example, if I do a search for a government specification on Ask.com and it gives me a link to a PDF as one of the answers, PDF Download doesn't recognize the link and it still opens inside FF with the default reader as if PDF Download didn't exist. Not bad, just not wonderful. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (126.96.36.199).
credits where credits due Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't credits supposed to go in a credit box and not in tools menu??? I like PDF download and I used it for quite some while, but that was before it started to throw cheap ad-ware in my browser menu... What's next? Pop-ups each time we download a PDF file? This review is for a previous version of the add-on (188.8.131.52).
Credit where credits due! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I too was experiencing the problems others described after Nitro’s acquisition of the PDF software plug-in: it simply no longer worked for me. However after updating to the new 184.108.40.206 version I can happily report the software now works as should again and is something no web-user should be without. I don’t know what the original problem was and frankly I don’t care, the developers listened to their users’ experiences and rectified the problem, well done Nitro sorry we doubted you! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (220.127.116.11).
Kinda pointless (IMHO) Rated 2 out of 5 stars
I think this add-on is sort of pointless. Most users could probably live with the Acrobat plug-in or use the application manager in Firefox to cause Acrobat reader to launch. Obviously some find it useful, but certainly not me.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (18.104.22.168).
