love it Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is the bomb, especially once you customize your search engine shortcut keys because the vanilla firefox requires you to use the shortcut keys in the address bar, which defeats the purpose of the search bar. Anyway, @Morcas, I am experiencing the same glitch you are describing and I believe it may be because Firefox has moved where the search settings are. Currently, you can manually go to the settings menu > Options > Search and get what you normally would see.

Manage Search Engines broken Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Because of the awful changes Mozilla made to the search engine management, going forward, Omnibar is broken. When selecting Manage Search Engines the whole browser freezes and has to be forceably terminated.

I hope we'll see a fix...

Thanks for reporting the problem. Will check it out.

Must have for me Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Must have for me, with New tab homepage, one of the first I install on fresh Firefox. I wish to be able to customize this bar. I want to move the "refresh page" arrow in a more convenient place.

I was going to switch, but no. Rated 2 out of 5 stars

It looks nice and all, but there's one BIG problem and that's pressing enter. I can't press enter to reload a page, I can't type in a web address and press enter to go to that page, and I can't press enter to do anything. So I'll disable it and maybe I'll try again in the not near future.

Firefox should do away with the separate search bar.

Fatal flaw Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Love it when it works but it often grabs url and takes it into ones search engine, instead of to url's page itself. It's that behavior that made me remove it, sigh. [Windows 7/latest FF user]

Neat little addon that makes the Firefox user interface just a bit more sleek and attractive.

I would like to see search results, but not search history. Unfortunately, I cannot set the search history count in settings to zero, only 1 is the minimum value.
Please fix this. Thanks.

It works for half the time and doesn't work for the other half.

uninstall this extension = reset firefox Rated 2 out of 5 stars

very useful, this is what the default should be.
there is no way to uninstall this without a complete reset of all firefox settings.
simply removing does not revert all changes made by the extension.
also causes many issues with toolbar/buttons/customizations.

Are you sure its Omnibar altering your toolbar customizations? It is a very simple addon that only adds search icons to the urlbar which should be removed automatically once you uninstall it.

Enter doesn;t work on latest version (version 1004) Rated 5 out of 5 stars

My favorite addon stops working for a while and I have to stick to old version. I type in the address bar and hit enter, nothing happens.
UPDATE: It was a compatibility issue with tabLock_mod1.uc.js of the userchromeJS extension. Disabling the script makes Omnibar working again.

That is unexpected. Can you email me at ajit at with more info such as Firefox version and other addons that may conflict with Omnibar? Thanks!

Nice addition, but missing features Rated 3 out of 5 stars

My #1 complaint about this extension is that it disables Firefox's native ability to search open tabs with %. I've got 322 tabs open, and I need to be able to search them easily.

Also, I really don't want suggestions for search keywords. I want suggestions for actual websites...the search results themselves.

I really want something that works as seamlessly as Chrome's Omnibox. Having keywords for other searches is great, but 95% of the time, I just want it to default to Google. The other 4% of the time, I want it to search my open tabs, a function which seems to be disabled. Using % to search open tabs doesn't work at all. This is essential for me. Looking forward to improvements in future releases.

This is a known bug introduced in one of the last few updates. A fix will be available in next update. Thanks for reporting it.

Great addon, that doesn't try to do too much. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Was looking for something that was basic. Does as I needed without trying to be too much. Thanks.
