404 error Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Thank you for making "IP Cam PTZ" available for Firefox. I am one of many Foscam camera users who can no longer view their cameras' feeds on their home computers.

I have installed the "IP Cam PTZ" extension in Firefox 49.0.1 on my Windows 7 computer. The extension's buttons display correctly and, when I click on the "Video Stream" or "Snapshot" buttons, the sidebar opens on the left, as expected.

I had been getting an error message about the URL being incorrectly formatted. Following your advice, I went to "Tools => Add-ons => Extensions => IP Cam PTZ => Options". In this "Options" screen, I inserted the "http://" at the front of the URL and the forward slash at the end of the URL, in order to put the URL in the format "http://IP_address:port/". So that is now working okay.

However, I now get a 404 error, saying that the URL (for the Foscam camera) could not be found.

Since I can access the Foscam camera's "options" screen (just not the video stream) on my home computer using the same IP and port, I'm fairly certain that the URL is indeed correct. I get this error regardless of whether or not the calling string includes the username and password.

As far as I can tell, the URL and the "videostream.cgi" script are excluded from scanning in my anti-virus protection (Avast) and from my computer's and my router's firewalls.

Kindly please advise. Thank you!

Edit on 01 Nov 2016 (because I can't find any means of replying to the developer's response):

You say that the port should be in the format "http://192.168.0.111:1345/". As mentioned in my post, the camera's IP address, in the first box in the "Options" window, is http://IP_address:port/, where "IP_address" is the IP address, starting with "192", and "port" is the port through the router. Kindly please clarify how "http://192.168.1.xxx:88/" is incorrect.

You say that the videostream format should be "videostream.cgi?user=fcam&pwd=fcam", rather than the "videostream.cgi?user=fcam&pwd=fcam", rather than the "videostream.cgi?user=username&pwd=password" format displayed in the instructions. I changed the contents from "videostream.cgi?user=username&pwd=password" (with "username" and "password" having been replaced with my username and password) to "videostream.cgi?user=fcam&pwd=fcam", and got the same 404 error. Kindly please advise.

Thank you.

Hi, the port should be in the format http://192.168.0.111:1345/ and the videostream format is videostream.cgi?user=fcam&pwd=fcam

Hope this helps.

Foscam Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Sorry, I found no other way to ask this question.
I have a Foscam FI9805W cam.
To use Firefox und Linux I need to find an application for the MIME type
application/ipcam-regplugin.
I suspect somewhere within
IP Cam PTZ this need to be also done.
Any help is very much appreciated.

PHS

I would not mind in this case that my email address is made available to the developer.

Linux

Sorry, I have little knowledge of Linux, I'm 100% sure it will work somehow. Windows & Macs handle video streaming as standard with no additional addons/programs needed.

Weird : Disable not working ? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

The addon as such is great !

But .... it seems impossible to really disable it. In the addon list it always says "... will be disabled at next FF start". And this doesn't change after a restart.

Next to the addon the "Enable" button is there, but this is in contradiction with the above.

Also, the IPcam PAN-buttons are still there in the toolbar.

No idea what's happening

Firefox corrupted

Hi, it's just a normal addon so the "disable" and "remove" should work as normal. Hate to say it but I think your version of FF is corrupted.

What you could try is installing the latest version of FF which should make everything work again, if not you'll need a fresh install.

Great Add-On for quick access to your IPC!
Had some difficulties with the initial set-up but all I had to do was email Phil (developer) and he walked me through the whole set-up process. Working perfectly with my Foscam! Thanks Phil!

Works great for Foscam's w/ PTZ.. This is a perfect add-on for nearly any current & popular IP cam owner..

@DRZ400S: Are you still offering the code/files for displaying two cams if emailed? I'd love to receive a copy!!

Thank fella

Email me at phils.addons@ntlworld.com and I'll send you the XPI install file and instructions to install, it's very easy. I'll upload it on in a few weeks, been meaning to do this for years!

You might also want to have a look at the Time Lapse addon.

Left Unwanted Side Window! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I tried to use this when I was having trouble seeing my UI for my Foscam camera. Ended up fixing the issue myself since this extension didn't work for me. The little side window that pops up for this extension won't go away, even though I uninstalled the extension! Now I have to do a reset and reinstall all my useful extensions.

Press the little X to close the window

I wrote this addon to display a snapshot every 2 (user set) seconds, if you view the live stream you'll soon find your processor at 100%. Taking snapshots every few seconds has little impact on CPU time. Sorry you didn't like the addon, if you want to try again, send us an email and I'll help you out.

Does not function with Tenvis camera Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I tried...several times. I only get an error that the site cannot be found when trying to use my Tenvis IP camera.

But no big deal since I can just have a simple bookmark to view the camera.

Works great with FI8910W - Thanks!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Easy to setup and works perfectly! Thanks for making this!

Looking forward to preset and multi-camera support!

Not bad! Works perfectly when configured correctly. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Handy for Foscam FI9821W. The extension would be better if there was a hidden CGI configuration parameter for password. However, when properly configured, this extension works flawlessly. Thanks!

Thanx for this! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It works flawlessly with my WansCam AJ-C0WA-C0D8 PTZ (Main Camara) & WansView NCB-543W (Backup Camera). Both FosCam Clones. I am very happy to have a quick possibility to control my main Cam. Thanx for that! The only downside is that i have to change the IP because only one Cam is supported at the same time. Wishlist for the next Version: Support for more than one Cam, Zoom , Switch IR On/Of, Access to Presets. That would be great!

More than 1 camera ? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Love your work. I click on snapshot then click snapshot to refresh the pic. Any way to add more than 1 camera ? Plenty of room in the sidebar. Thanks for the neat extension.

Terrific Addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is just what I needed. A way to view my cameras and be online with email and such. I just wish there was an option to use more than one IP cam.

Multicam

Send an email to phils.addons@ntlworld.com and I'll send you the 2 cam version I wrote but never released.

Not compatible with 8.0.1 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Shouldn't be listed in the add-ins for this version.

Reply to DRZ: I ain't lyin'...http://www.nuzzi.net/images/incompatible.png

Updated: 12/12/2011 - Yes, that worked. It is working for me now.

Its compatible to to FF10.

I'm using it on FF8 fine. :)

Reply to you edit: I just created a new profile on FF8.0.1 and it installed and ran fine, could you try uninstalling it and reinstalling it. It's set to be compatible up to FF10.

Cool Little add-on. I've put it on all three of my computers and love it. So much easier than logging in ti the camera webUI when I just want a quick look at the video. Thanks DRZ400Z
