Where is the developer? Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Yesterday I tried my hometown again, but it came up with old data. Tried a nearby larger city and FCF updated ok. Today the current conditions (now) tab is updating, but the today and next day tabs still a day behind and not updating.
Where is the developer of this add-on? Why is he not responding to our issues? If he doesn't want to mess with it any longer, at least release the source code into the public domain so someone else can pick it up. Many of us have sent a note to both his address here and also to AccuWeather, but no response from either one.
There is a Google group that is actively following the problems with FCF too.
Still one star rating until it works again, then five stars for sure.
"Mozilla has marked this version as incompatible with your Firefox version." Again... Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Sigh. "Mozilla has marked this version as incompatible with your Firefox version."
I am getting ever so tired of this. Incompatible with 34.0.5, so I update, and now the message changes version, that's all.
The 'Install anyway' fails, same smarmy message.
What is the current wisdom for getting around this, or is there an update to Forecastfox in the chute? I have used this extension for quite some time, would love to continue doing so. Inertia, I guess, but it does everything I need it to, not much I don't need it to, and has always been well-behaved for me.
Any advice yet?
Change location? Rated 1 out of 5 stars
I can't change the location. In the small popup box, the change location button does nothing and it appears to be greyed out. There's a spinning graphic. What is this? This user has 5 previous reviews of this add-on.

My temporary solution:
I changed the lines 8 and 9 of the accuweather-adapter.js
I removed the metric and the langId property. When forecastfox tries to open the url with the other properties I get an error most of the time. With this modification I get a valid xml file and forecastfox updates the weather correctly.
I can't edit the options, maybe some of you has more time, so I use my old configuration. I don't know if this works with new forecastfox installations.
Doesnt' work for me.. Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Not sure if it's caused by my network here at work, but using this proxy doesn't work for me. All I get is connection error when the proxy is on. I will try it at home later and see what happens. The weird part is, the radar works fine, it's just the daily forecast display that's inaccurate.
PROXY Firefox and it updates weather data perfectly! Here's how! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Regular Firefox with regular Forecastfox installed *WORKS PERFECTLY IF* you use the PROXY set to 127.0.0.1 under port number 8118 while running the Tor/Vidalia bundle.
To be CLEAR! Do NOT use "Tor Browser". Not that thing.
We're using *Regular Firefox* folks, but connect it through Tor/Vidalia by going to:
Tools --> Options --> Network --> Settings --> 127.0.0.1 and port 8118.
Then to really streamline it, use the bottom line which says "No proxy for:" and add the sites you do NOT want proxied.
Google.com, Youtube.com, Yahoo.com, Facebook.com and so on, but notice the comma at the end of each followed by a space OR simply turn the proxy on and off whenever you want Forecastfox to update weather data.
WHY does this work? I have no idea, but it DOES work all of the time every time.
I hope this helps!
On a side note, I SUSPECT the reason could be because our ISP's are caching data which gives us all two or three day old weather data, but when we go through the proxy server it actually connects to accuweather like it should do in the first place OR another possibility could be that accuweather is *blocking* requests from that part of their website for huge IP ranges, but somehow the IP's the Tor network runs on are not block as of YET.
Just a couple of guesses.
The bottom line is this - If you love this add-on, follow my instructions above and it'll work again regardless of why. It works!
fixing incorrect days Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Great app, been using it for years.
Recently the days were off by a few days.
I tried the suggestions below and deleting the sqlite file fixed it
but just for a short time.
After much fooling around,I added a second location and had it
automatically switch every minute. Worked great, kept correct days. I then removed the second location which I added as a test and my original location is working great.
I use Chicago, added Aurora,CHANGED Aurora to primary and
deleted Chicago, then added Chicago back and finally deleted Aurora. It has been working correctly.
Broken! Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Tried Alexxx's suggestion below. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. Extended forecast seems OK, but current conditions are wrong. It displays data from many hours ago, not current.
still messed [UPDATE] Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Firefox 35.0.1 / Forecastfox v2.2.4. it's Saturday 1/31. my "Now:" was stuck on last Tuesday (presumably the day Firefox updated to v35.01). i closed Firefox, renamed "forecastfox.sqlite" > "forecastfox.sqlite.BAK". opened Firefox, reconfig'd my Forecastfox prefs. STILL behind but apparently only by 12 hours. my "Now:" says 11:50pm, it's 10:59am as i type this. everything else seems to be working but now i have to go elsewhere for current conditions, possibly even (gasp) outside. looks like Forecastfox is doomed. if i knew how to get it up to current Firefox specs i'd fork it. maybe some day.
UPDATE: current conditions ("Now:") were briefly only a few minutes behind real time. looked good. i hit "Reload Weather Data" and "Now:" reverted back to 11:50pm last night with corresponding temp. great.
Finally!! Fixed it!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Many thanks for this fix Alexxx!!
Updated to the 2.2.4 version, no help.
Disabled the adblock first, no help.
Deleted the forecastfox.sqlite file and it's now working great again!!
Also set my Firefox to NOT update!!
Thanks again Alexxx!!
Still not working Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Found the file. deleted it and nothing has changed.
Only way to update the forecasts is using a VPN and change your locations, but that means it is to much trouble, and it is sad this service is down. Every update makes Firefox worse. I have saved my best configurations to an extern disc. Why do they do this? I used to love this browser. Now i don't really know what's going on here.
From now on I will never update Firefox, because it has gone from the best browser to "you never know what those bastards are are up to this time"... Updating is now a dangerous game. Seems like they get a kick out of fooling us who have followed and supported them!
Don't Worry, Be Happy: ForecastFox Still Working Fine Rated 5 out of 5 stars
If you are having problems with ForecastFox, exit Firefox. Then go to your Firefox profile directory and delete the forecastfox.sqlite file. Restart Firefox and ForecastFox should be working fine. You will probably need to update your personal preferences in ForecastFox options, though.
I have tried this on several computers running both OSX and Windows, and it's worked on all. (I don't know if this also fixes the non-English language problem, as I am not affected; but it certainly fixed everything else for me.)
Please note that, if you are installing ForecastFox from scratch on Firefox 35+, you may have to bump up the max version in the install.rdf.

This is an excellent add-on. It has always helped me plan everything from activities to what kind of clothing I should wear or bring with me, or if I should have my umbrella on the way to school. I *really* hope that the team who makes this add-on is on-top of making it work for the latest version of Firefox, because I cannot even deal with these other lousy, non-working weather add-ons I'm having to use in its place since my update. =/

I'll miss this add on, im glad my FF on on my laptop still has it, no weather add-on will as good as this one was. i silently hope somebody will revamp forecast fox

Working, but needs to change language to english. However, last problems with updating data are caused by accuweather website, not this addon.
Forecastfox is Dead - I'll Miss It Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Forecastfox now doesn't even sync in English. I suppose Accuweather has put all their resources into the mobile version. Will someone please hack the mobile version to make it work on the desktop? Thank you. This user has a previous review of this add-on.
Uma Alternativa para continuar utilizando / An Alternative to continue using Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Uma alternativa que consegui resolver !!!!
-Baixe o arquivo forecastfox-latest.xpi
-Descompacte em uma pasta o arquivo forecastfox-latest.xpi utilizando o 7-ZIP
- Dentro desta pasta vão conter (chrome) chrome.manifest forecast..., icon e install.
An alternative that could resolve !!!!
-Lower The Forecastfox-latest.xpi file
-Descompacte In a folder the Forecastfox-latest.xpi file using 7-Zip
- Inside this folder will contain (chrome) chrome.manifest forecast ..., icon and install.
-Open With Notepad the install file
-Modifique The line <em:maxVersion>22.0 to <em:maxVersion>35.0 and save the file (thus becomes compatible with the current version of firefox)
-Open The Chrome folder also unzip the file to a folder forecastfox.jar
Locate the folder content / locale, back up renaming the file to Forecastfox-en.json Forecastfox-en_bkp.json
-renomeie the file for your language in my Forecastfox-pt-BR.json case for Forecastfox-en.json (so it will be able to update the data but translated into your language)
-To Finish, select all the extracted files forecastfox.jar compress it to forecastfox.zip and rename it to forecastfox.jar
-After This select all the unzipped files of Forecastfox-lastest and compress it to zip then rename it to Forecastfox-latest.xpi
-Ready, Meteorological data will be updated and some items in your language.
