Works great! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Well done you for solving a really irritating little problem that should NEVER have been!

Many thanks and much appreciated.

Works good, but should not be necessary... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This addon works good so it would get five stars, if it weren't so that I think the reasons behind it are a big smelly.

To me this is a FireFox degration. First you get big by doing everything right. And then once you are big, priority changes and all kinds of polution like this slips in.

I like to see my start page when I open a new tab; the same page when the browser starts. Up until version 40, newtab worked as usual as it should. Now with the background auto update to version 41, you suddenly change this behaviour with the argument that is is being abused? (

I don't believe you. Just like the preference startpage when FireFox starts cannot be change by a website, you could also give us this same save preference input for what to do when we open a new tab.

To me the reason you are hiding this latter option behind a now even increased complexity with version 41, tells me that you want to decide what we see in our browser.

I am above average with technical insight, and it took me half an hour to get to this addon to simply enable me to see my start page when I open a new tab... ofcourse after first investigating and trying settings in "about:config".

You just let all those million Firefox users find this out by themselves?
You're just figuring that nine out of ten users will probably not be able to
restore this, so you can force them into seeing things that you want.

Firefox you're a really good browser, but at this point you suck.
If these kind of things happen more often, and taking my precious time for this kind of bullsh*t, you will not be my number one browser anymore.

tiles show for half a sec Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Good add-on, works well and the "clear address bar" function is handy.

Funciona perfecto la version 3 con Firefox 41 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Me encanta que cargue mi buscador favorito como nueva pestaña. Hay otro complemento que también funciona: New Tab Homepage View, pero Custom New Tab tambien funciona al cerrar todas las pestañas en una ventana. Muchas gracias.

v. 40.0.3 doesn't honor change in URL specification Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Just like reviewer "Firefox4Me," I changed the URL Option to open upon creating a new tab. Instead, the old URL is used. I tried re-starting FF. Perhaps something in cache or registry not updating?

Not focusing on URL bar anymore 8/14/15 Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Same problem that others are mentioning, This add-on is great but is failing to focus on the url bar for new tabs with the update to FF40.
Will change review to 5 stars once this is fixed, add-on has been great until now.

Not working Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Not working after update. It opens with right address but not focus in search field. Do hope you can fix that,I found that if I put the cursor at HOME and click on the mouse wheel , a new tab opens with the focus in search field.
Mousepad? Do not know how to do but regular mouse and it works for me. I have addon All in one getures too

Rcent update (8/11/15) does not work anymore in FF40 Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I been using your app for over a year with no problems until updateding Firefox to version 40. The tab does not open the site I enter in the box in the options. FF40 is blocking it from being changed somehow. It still however opens the correct previous URL that I had before FF40 & your app update. Now, regardless of what URL is entered in the options, it does not open the URL, regardless of any URL entered. I tried uninstalling your app and restarting FF and trying a new URL in the box in option, but it does not open in a new tan that URL I have set.

Hope this can be fixed,

It's nice when stuff just works as advertised :)

Absolutly great!!!

Finally when you open a new tab the cursor is automatically in the search box of Google - as it should be!!!

One would think that there is actually no big thing for the developers of Firefox to fix this bug when opening a new tab, but since tens of versions absolutely nothing is done here.

And that is the reason, why this app is all the more valuable!!!

Many Thanks!

Thanks! The only thing I was missing using Firefox as a browser was the ability to instantly search without having to click anywhere else. 10/10 would recommend to everyone.

Exactly what it says it does. Focus is in the search box on new tabs and windows.
Thank you.

This add on has relieved the mental anguish from trawling through endless web pages of people complaining about this issue, thank you! My only question is; it doesn't seem to work more than once. eg: when i click my firefox shortcut icon to open firefox the first time it works great, the cursor is in the google box. Then i click the shortcut again to open another window and the cursor is in the URL box again (also doesn't clear the second windows URL box). Is this something i am doing wrong?

A Bug!

It seems you've found a bug. In my opinion, it is annoying that the focus is not handled well when a new window is opened. However, fixing it is starting to expand CNT from "new tabs" into "new windows." It's complicated, especially considering the fact that Firefox gives the option to "open the tabs and windows from last time." If you're interested, there is a new version of CNT here: but I am still testing it so I'm holding off on automatic uptdates for now.
