For years I have run Firefox with cookies turned off and only turn them on for sites I trust that need them. From time to time I find a site that needs cookies to work but I don't want to give it permanent permissions. Either switching the global cookie permissions, or creating and then deleting exceptions for the site is a little clumsy, several submenus and dialogs deep. I kept forgetting to turn cookies off again afterwards and ending up with loads of junk.
I tried a few options, addons that try to do exactly what I want, or those that do something close. None of them were entirely satisfactory. After a forum thread asking about updates to a cookie addon I went through the available ones again and decided I had better write one myself. Here it is.
Next release, very soon, has a tools menu and submenus that stay open if you hold the ctrl key down. After that, maybe enhancements of the cookie tidy button to better show when a site has cookies. Suggestions always welcome, although not always implemented :)
