Error Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I'm getting the error:

[Exception... "Not enough arguments [nsIWebBrowserPersist.saveURI]" nsresult: "0x80570001 (NS_ERROR_XPC_NOT_ENOUGH_ARGS)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://abduction/content/browser.js :: abduction/action_save :: line 847" data: no]

Doesn't work for me. I get the following error:

[Exception... "Not enough arguments [nsIWebBrowserPersist.saveURI]" nsresult: "0x80570001 (NS_ERROR_XPC_NOT_ENOUGH_ARGS)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://abduction/content/browser.js :: abduction/action_save :: line 847" data: no]

Patch for FF39.0 does not stick Rated 2 out of 5 stars

In my earlier review, I stated that the Blackshore's patch worked in my browser FF39.0. That is true, BUT...It works as long as I do not shutdown or restart FF. When FF is restarted, the error returns.
It is unreasonable to require that a user not close his browser.
I am therefore changing my review to state that Yes the patch does work TEMPORARILY, but will only work during the current browser session.
My Bad for not testing enough!

Fantastic plugin but in Firefox 38 is not possible to save images Rated 3 out of 5 stars

[Exception... "Not enough arguments [nsIWebBrowserPersist.saveURI]" nsresult: "0x80570001 (NS_ERROR_XPC_NOT_ENOUGH_ARGS)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://abduction/content/browser.js :: abduction/action_save :: line 847" data: no]

How to fix this?
I have Firefox 38.0

blah Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Fixes doesn't work on 38.0.5 anymore. The main reason why i still using it (instead of screengrab for example) is because !Abduction has this x-ray function, which scans html elements (such as <div>, <table>, <span> and so on) and take a shot of it. Copy still works but this slows me down, pasting it in external editor every single time, so annoying

Fix version: Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This add-on with the same functionality, but it works fine in Firefox and SeaMonkey:

Broken but easily fixed. Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The addon is excellent but is currently broken due to one single line of text that is easily fixed.

I'm hoping the developer fixes this and allows the addon to continue.

Read blackshore's contribution from April 19, 2015, he/she provides a patch that still works with FF Ver. 38.0.1.
Thank you.

Updated and modified to work with SeaMonkey 2.30+ Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Latest fixes by Darek for FF 36+ and blackshore for FF 37.0.0.1 have been included in the latest SeaMonkey-compatible 3.5.0 package available from my ftp server: ftp://ftp.2rosenthals.com/pub/Mozilla/Extensions/modified-for-SM-2.x/ .

This is a very useful extension, particularly for anyone creating documentation and needing screenshots of browser content.

Thanks so much to the original author and to everyone who has provided tweaks and fixes along the way!

Thanks to Blackshore and Dukecze for the updates. Already thought was going to have to look for alternative for this useful tool :)

ABDUNCTION 3.5 Browser Extension - 4.15.2015 Rated 3 out of 5 stars

ABDUCTION was a GREAT 'add- on' (extension) until Mozilla 'upgraded' the browser multiple times... in less than two months or so?! IF these 'extensions' are going to be available for DOWNLOAD (and update?) then they need to be VERIFIED to be COMPATIBLE with the LATEST version of FireFox! WHY is FIREFOX NOT VERIFYING 'compatibility' of downloadable plugins and extensions, listed onsite?? WTH??? Not everyone online is INTO patching CODE! :-(((

And THANKS! to Dukecze for the link to a FIX... This has been 'bugging me' ("Line 847, not enough arguments") for WEEKS! (Many / most users online don't know WHERE to revise the code... I found / opened it using 7-Zip in 'downloads...' but then it wouldn't replace it, in the program file!? HOWEVER WHY am I having to 'revise it,' manually? That's precisely... my POINT!)

Fixed addon for those who are too lazy to edit it themselves using Dareks fix:

Very nice, but a bit abandoned for now (manual fix for FF 36+ needed) Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Need replacing this:
persist.saveURI(source, null, null, null, null, null, picker.file, privacyContext);
with this (one more null):
persist.saveURI(source, null, null, null, null, picker.file, privacyContext);
for FF 36+ in chrome/content/browser.js line 847 as documented here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Tech/XPCOM/Reference/Interface/nsIWebBrowserPersist#saveURI%28%29

As excellent as it always was, but saving images seems to be broken as mentioned below.

Hopefully there will be a fix, but luckily for the time being the "copy" function still works fine, so clicking copy and pasting into an image editor is a workaround.

Problem.... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

with FF36.0.1 on linux (OpenSuser 13.2) i get [Exception... "Not enough arguments [nsIWebBrowserPersist.saveURI]" nsresult: "0x80570001 (NS_ERROR_XPC_NOT_ENOUGH_ARGS)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://abduction/content/browser.js :: abduction/action_save :: line 847" data: no]

How about having an icon for the saved websites....Is that too much to ask? Otherwise, this program does what it's supposed to.

FF36Fix + Missing Menu Entry Fix (German only) + File Extension Fix Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great! c00per's fix/hack for Firefox 36 (https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/abduction/reviews/684774/) – posted first by Ben (https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/abduction/reviews/682266/) also worked for me!

I use Firefox 36.0.1 with OS X 10.8.5. I used the OS X integrated compress/decompress functionality for ZIP files in the Finder to apply the fix (and BBEdit). Simply rename {b0e1b4a6-2c6f-4e99-94f2-8e625d7ae255}.xpi to {b0e1b4a6-2c6f-4e99-94f2-8e625d7ae255}.zip to uncompress, then edit the content (browser.js) and compress and rename again (the content if the folder, not the folder itself, as c00per mentioned).

The xpi file from spellbound (thanks!) did also work, but the german context menu fix was missing there (the entry "Save Page As Image" does not appear due to a wrong entry in the language file – only in german!).

If you also have this problem (should only happen in german language), you find the fix here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/abduction/reviews/599210/

But then I still had the following problem:
When saving images, the filename extension "png" (or "jpg") was not added automatically in the file dialog (OS X 10.8.5). With version 3.0.16 of the Add-On, this did not happen ... so I checked the code of browser.js and found a fix.

I had to replace the line:
picker.defaultString = filename + '.' + picker.defaultExtension;
with:
picker.defaultString = filename + '.' + file_types[0].extension;

Hope that helps!
