My Reviews

EPUBReader

Solid effort Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Only one other add-on or standalone app matches this, and that's Cool Reader [not new 2015 version tho]. I'd prefer it to CoolReader save that EPUBreader seems to lack a next-chapter and/or table of contents feature.
With so many flawed add-ons it's nice to find one that actually delivers what it claims.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.0.6.1-signed).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

Small Nav Bar

Not on FF40 Rated 1 out of 5 stars

On FF40 [Windows 7 system] it is inert; doesn't work.

Hide Navigation Bar

Erratic, well yes, but... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Two buts actually...
1] Tho autohide seems erratic, the F2 toggle works fine, and that's most of the job.
2] Could be just me but it seems that since v38, Firefox has been getting awful fussy. [INCOMPATIBLE INCOMPATIBLE- WARNING WILL ROBINSON!]
I'm happy to have the F2 toggle, which does seem solid.

Custom Standalone Image Backgrounds

Could just be me but... Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Found this one utterly bewildering- so i don't know whether there was some conflict with another add-on, or if i just don't know how to use it.
Certainly the announcement that a side pane would present to left of "every image" [image- what image? on a web-site???] was optimistic. I never found any evidence on any toolbar or menu that this add-on even installed. And the mysterious usage advice never mentions how to add ones own images, which cripples its value right there.
All of the how-to-use advice is clumsy, terse, and cryptic.
This one needs to be taken back to the drawing board.

Hide Navbar

Actual mileage may vary! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Just doesn't work for me. I press get F2 but nothing happens.
By the way: Avast! anti-virus calls this malware.
[W7, FF40 used.]

FEBE

May be best possible given FF limits, but... Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Installing it was easy. Backing up was easy. Restoring profile was a ****ing nightmare. I never managed it. If you don't have dozens of extensions it's probably faster to just reinstall them than wade through the complexities of this monster.
But, one must admit, given the structure of Firefox, a simpler solution just may not be possible.
But the point is, whoever is to blame, this is just not a fix to anybody but a techno-whiz.
Totally unusable, a real nerdpile.

Tabloc

Could just be me, but... Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I was seeking an add-on to make a tab permanent [so i figured "lock" would do it]. Tabloc, whatever it does, doesn't do that.
It might be a fine tab, but the explanation could be clearer.

Image-Show-Hide

Actually works... imagine that! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

The difference between "Hide All Images" and this one is that the former foolishly relies on toolbar buttons [which often disappear and are recoverable only with difficulty, or not at all].
This one has a hotkey, which saves it from such Mozilla blunders.
Thanks Dmitriy.

PS: One cavet, which will probably get it poor reviews. It should come with both autoload boxes checked, in activated mode. Without this, it doesn't work [on my system anyway]. So it doesn't work for you, check both boxes in Options, and you should be fine.

Hide all Images

Needs a hotkey Rated 2 out of 5 stars

A simple click on its blue button.... a simple refresh. But there's nothing simple about either. H.A.I button didn't appear on my toolbar, and FF's advice [go into safe mode...] didn't work either.
As to "simple refresh", that button doesn't appear in my FF40 either [and, again, when a setting shifts on FF it's basically unrecoverable, despite Mozilla advice to contrary].
I despair of Mozilla: it's like Microsoft, obsessed with sexy features at cost of basic operating simplicity/reliability.
Anyway, for an add-on writer to not assume worst [and include a hotkey] is naive. You shot yourself [and us] in the foot Mr. Erra.

Youtube and more – Easy Video Downloader

hit and miss Rated 3 out of 5 stars

It recognizes about half of the utube and vimeo videos i try to download.

RemoveTabs

poor interfacing Rated 2 out of 5 stars

See button "on the toolbar"? What toolbar!??? And another thing: i use FF in full-screen mode, to avoid clutter. This add-on seems to solve one problem at cost of creating another.

Showcase

Works Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I think i got confused- tried hotkey from another add-on. Ctrl + ALT + T does work. But that's the only one that does: F12 for instance just triggers full-screen [and KeyConfig doesn't work- it's unchangeable]. Still, Cntrl+ALT+T beats a kick in the ....
I think Sun-flower has a point- i only accidentally found Showcase, so, Joseph, you're shooting yourself in the foot.

FireGestures

One fatal flaw? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I like it fine, but tend not to use it for one simple reason: WHEN IT'S ENABLED IT MAKES TEXT SELECTION IMPOSSIBLE. Since i'm constantly saving paragraphs of text, i can't use FireGestures, sob.
Just one simple hotkey disable/enable toggle would easily fix this gotcha.

Mouse Gestures Suite

Maybe could be better documented... Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I realize i must be doing something wrong, but that only begs the question of why isn't the documentation so clear that my confusion isn't impossible?
Installed it fine, went into its settings, found mouse gestures page [tho it forces you to stumble about to find that right clicking on a given command triggers its popup field], and tried a few gestures.
Nada. Trails didn't appear, much less promised actions happening.
I have a golden rule that has saved me many hours with craputers [er, computers]: if it doesn't work instantly, forgetaboutit.

Toggle Document Colors

Handy, but missing a finger or two Rated 4 out of 5 stars

My problem [and yes, i'm fussy] is that the gray it switches to is a bit too bright, but FF's next darker gray is too dark.
If you could expand on FF's range, offer more colors, it'd be more useful

But thanks for this.

Ctrl-Tab

DOA Rated 2 out of 5 stars

dead as a doornail [FF39]

Close All Tabs (Reloaded)

almost gave it one star Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It's more important than usual to read the fine print with this one. If you don't, like me, you won't realize that no apparent button doesn't mean it's broken. It gives you the option of placing the button elsewhere. Once i did it worked fine.

FoxTab

This is an ex-add-on Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This is a dead parrot! First time i installed it icon didn't appear, and hotkey [ctrl + tab] didn't work. Next time i retried installing it, i got icon but hotkey still didn't work.

Tabs On Bottom

nothing Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Installed fine, but didn't work. Rebooted & retried. Still nothing.
Uninstalled it. !?

Tab Slideshow

es is kaput. Rated 2 out of 5 stars

just didn't work on my Windows 7 machine [FF 39]. Cycled only 1 of my 7 open tabs.
And, by the way, needs a hotkey- reaching for Tools > Start Slideshow every use doesn't cut it.
