Add-ons I've created
Should be a default Rated 5 out of 5 stars
this is an excellent solution to a very annoying problem. I would like to suggest one improvement. Could you allow the users to control where the results are displayed. Options could be - center, 75% from top, 80% from top, 75% from bottom, etcThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2010070901.1-signed.1-signed).
many thanks Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I have been looking for ana addon like this for a long time. many many thanks for your effort. if it helps I would like to suggest/ask a few things -
1. execution of deleter may be made automatic at every 10th or 20th exit of firefox instead of every exit. alternately, it can be made to run after every 50 hours of firefox usage.
2. i see that you maintain a log of every 'deletion' in a sqlite database. but there is no way to view it from your addon. perhaps you have already planned for a future release.
3. this addon made my firefox crash once (only once) while displaying results of a 'query'. as crashing of firefox has become very very rare these days, i thought i shd bring this to your notice.
in any case a full 5 stars from me.
Very handy Rated 5 out of 5 stars
great addon. very much needed for tab junkies like me. Thank you.
True RIL Rated 5 out of 5 stars
well now I can say it is truly RIL.
functionally RIL is not the same as bookmarks. If someone wants it to behave just like bookmarks, they can themselves create a folder called "RIL" and start adding temporary bookmarks. This was one of my main grouses with RIL. The only convenience over home-made hack was RIl's URL-bar arrow button. It is unfair to judge RIL based on what it should not do.
since RIL serves a different purpose, it is logical that it should be separate from bookmarks altogether. I welcome this new version. The login process is also very simple and straightforward. No stupid email confirmations.
Syncing is much faster than xmarks. Try it guys if you do not believe it.
My only complaint is that the user interface is clumsy. the old drop down list was better as it contained more links. this new one contains very few and one has to flip pages too often. But this is a minor issue.
All in all I would give it a full 5 marks.
for India Rated 5 out of 5 stars
there is a indian site www.160by2.com. can you please enable sending SMS from this site too. it may need only some minor tweaking in the code. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.3).
jarURL Rated 3 out of 5 stars
I would love to see this addon work. however i see this error :
Error: jarFileURL is not defined
Source File: chrome://chromelist/content/lib/parser.js
i have FF3.5.1, WinXP SP3, and Chrome list 0.4.1
why not more options Rated 5 out of 5 stars
i like the concept of this addon ... however i would like to see more options for the tooltips ..
1. last modified date
2. bookmark added date
3. visit count
anyway great addon
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
since 3.5 has included the functionality of this addon, so no need to update ... nice work harikaried ... imitation is best flattery .. you won in persuading FF team to include it as a default feature.
back to it Rated 5 out of 5 stars
i had installed another gooogle enhancer ... only to revrt back to this extension ... better than any opther enhancersThis review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.70).
Must have Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I am so habituated to this addon that i instinctively drag mouse over google chrome and IE too ... that is when i abruptly shut that browser and open Firefox ...
it is a great extension ... however i want to ask one question : when is it going to be updated for Fx3.5 ??
let me point out its features over firegestures ... in this one you can selectively disable one (or any number of) gestures you want ... you can swap gestures ... you can modify by gesturing ... needless to say firegestures deprives you of all that ...
Good Rated 3 out of 5 stars
nice work ... if only it also showed the unsorted bookmarks too. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.4).
Perfect Rated 5 out of 5 stars
cant thank you enough for your excellent addon ... i use it with spamgourmet ... it smartly generates a unique email id based on the site at which it is being used ... very convenient ...
i also want to take this opportunity to thank spamgourmet guys too ...
keep going !!
WOW Rated 5 out of 5 stars
this is what i call an idea so simple and effective that it leaves one wondering why did not anybody think of it before.
absolutely must be included in FF as default
Exactly what is needed Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This is exactly what is needed ... i tried cootua too but it adds too much of its own to the URL bar suggestions and disrupts the order ... the only thing i liked in cootua is date displayed and visit count ...
can we have those two things in this addon too.
Superseded Rated 1 out of 5 stars
EDIT ::: oh stupid bozos ... never knew this shit would remove all my saved RIPs permanently as soon as it is upgraded ... i am removing this addon instantly and moving to something else ... dammnnn !!
It is better to use "adblock plus" and "adblock plus element hiding helper". for temporary removal of items "nuke this" and aardvark are good tools ... so i beleive this addon is not necessary.
Amazing Theme Rated 5 out of 5 stars
i have fallen in love with theme ... exactly the one I wanted ... i tried a lot of other dark colored themes ... something or the other always failed ... maybe a result of providing a lot of custom icon sets which do not scale properly ... this theme gives you an icon set which looks like the default icon set .. just the background color changes to dark
My recommendation to use with this theme --
1. PitchDark companion stylish script from userstyle.org ... some tweaks are needed to make this very good-looking. visit this URL http://userstyles.org/styles/13864
2. use Adblock element hiding helper extension to block many bright (and jarring images) from some of your fav sites (maybe using wildcards)... it is some effort but the result is so stunning that you too will become a convert.
3. for windows install Royale Noir theme with dark colors ... your whole computer experience changes to a completely new level ...
if you do the above you will be raving as I am now ...
a full 10 out of 5 stars to this amazing theme
some issues Rated 4 out of 5 stars
i wud have given 6 stars to this extension just for the great idea itself. it is one of those ideas which should be instantly recognized as essential and you just couldn't do without it after you realize it is possible, just like the idea of a mobile phone.
having said that, i must say that execution is not without blemishes. though the cookies for gmail, yahoo and many other mail sites are preserved after swapping and reswapping ... many other cookies seem to get lost. especially if you reswap after restarting firefox things are just bad ... except some mail sites, most of the cookies expire and you have to relogin.
i am sure new releases will make this better ... till then i applause for the idea but hold my judgement.
strange problem Rated 2 out of 5 stars
there is a strange problem with this extension as well as the earlier menu editor. when you select text and do right-click, "search Google for ..." is missed sometimes. the strange thing is that it doesn't happen always. so far i have not been able to identify whether this happens with a pattern or not. It was tough identifying that this is due to MenuditorII as I have 50+ addons.
an even more strange thins is that this menu item is not totally hidden, but has a small transparent strip dedicated to it. no text or icon is visible, but if you hover your cursor over it, it appears as a blue selected strip and clicking it does the action of "search google for ...". if you change your default search plugin, it can recognize that and works normally ... only display is the problem.
i have no clue as to why it is happening and why only with this item.
can anybody shed some light on it.
useful Rated 3 out of 5 stars
this extension wud be very useful if it really does what it claims to do. in particular it does not display "all images in one tab".
for the bug fix do install the update from
it increases the link habdling power to 999 and also address the issue of "all images in one tab" .. this is the same issue as raised by shahsank
very useful Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I had this extension when I used FF 1.x.x ... somehow when I switched to 2.x and higher this extension was lost and I always wondered where did my search-in-context had gone. I foolishly thought that this was a cool firefox feature which they discontinued ... and since I am very cautious about installing addons, I did not suspect this to be false. untill today when I really got down to resolve this issue. Am such a damn fool for enduring this problem for something like 2.5 years.
Anyway, now that I am again a convert to SmartSearch (now I can even recall the name !), let me add my two bits of suggestions .. not having any cribs, suggestions (or maybe demands) are all I have.
1. The order in which the entries are sorted should be according to the order in which it is placed in bookmark
maybe it should be definable from the addon-preferences by a drag-drop-pushup-pulldown mechanism.
the sites maybe ordered using the frecency score for each site a la awesome bar of FF3.
2. If it remembers the last search site used and offers that one (only that one) as the first one, it would be really useful. This one should be separated from rest of the list by a separator.
3. It would be really useful if along with the names of the site, its keyword is also displayed maybe as :
keyword : site-name : complete-URL
And lastly many many thanks for this excellent addon.
PS : the last point did not come out correctly in my earlier review so I am reposting this after necessary modification
