My Reviews

Tab Utilities Fixed

Most Excellent Add-On Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using this add-on for years (switched from Tab Utilities). It offers a lot of options to change how tabs work in Firefox and Pale Moon. The latest update works fine in Firefox, but does not work with Pale Moon. The previous version (TabUtilitiesFixed{1.5.2015.09.12.1-let-fixed}) still works with Pale Moon, however.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.2016.03.20).

Tab Groups

Wunderschön! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using tab groups ever since Mozilla started incorporating it into Firefox. Consequently, I was very disappointed when I found out that Mozilla was going to remove this feature and planned to transition away from Firefox entirely because of this loss of functionality. Later I discovered that this Tabs Groups extension was created. I installed it and was quite pleased to discover that I could still use the tab grouping feature I had come to depend on. For power users like myself, Tab Groups (and TabGroups Manager revived) are incredibly useful add-ons. A big 'Thank you!' to Quicksilver for creating this add-on for us all to enjoy.

TabGroups Manager revived

AWESOME! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using TabGroups Manager for years, so when the original developer stopped working on it I was very appreciative of other developers stepping in to maintain it. Recently, I was beginning to wonder if this extension was going to be left for dead because of the problems associated with Mozilla requiring add-ons to be signed. Now I discovered that those maintaining developers have started this fork (TabGroups Manager revived) and are continuing to update/maintain the add-on. For power users like myself, tab groups and TabGroups Manager revived are incredibly useful. A big thank you to all the developers involved—you are AWESOME (and so is this add-on)!

Restart

Restarless Restart Replacement Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I used Restartless Restart for years, but today it quit working after I upgraded to FF44. I tried this add-on as a replacement and it seems to work just fine. The only difference I can find is that Restart requires a restart (no pun intended).

Restartless Restart

Great While It Lasted Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using this excellent add-on for years, but after upgrading to FF44 it no longer works.

I looked for a replacement and decided to use Restart 1.2.8 because it was updated about a month ago. (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/re-start/?src=search)

Installed and working perfectly with FF44.

Moon Space

Excellent! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I tend to favor abstract themes and space themes: this one combines both. I also like the way it balances dark and light colors.

Organize Search Engines

Will Work With Firefox 34 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is an excellent add-on that I've been using for years. After updating to FF 34, however, the Search bar disappeared. I disabled this add-on and the Search bar reappeared. This add-on does work with FF 34.0, but you have to make an adjustment.

The fix is to disable the new “One-click Search UI” that comes with FF 34. Here are the steps to do so:
1: Enter about:config in the Location bar.
2: Search for the preference browser.search.showOneOffButtons .
3: Change the value from True to False.
4: Restart the browser for the changes to apply.

Compose for Thunderbird

Awesome Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using Thunderbird since 2005 and have always wondered why the composing options were so limited. Oftentimes I write my emails in OpenOffice, LibreOffice, or even MS Word before pasting them in Thunderbird. Compose for Thunderbird goes a long way towards bringing Thunderbird on par with those writing applications. This add-on still needs work, more features, and the ability to modify it; but overall it is a very awesome add-on -- especially for only being version 0.2. Thank you mozjonathan!

ImportExportTools

Very Useful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I stumbled upon ImportExport Tools sometime last year (2010) and have found it to be very useful. I especially like the ability to save email messages in different formats. The add-on has many other useful features as well.

Highlighter

I waited a long time... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

...for someone to develop an extension like this; thank you André Rodier! On a planet far, far away I used MS Outlook and became accustomed to the highlighting feature. I switched to TB years ago and have missed the ability to highlight text ever since.

Context Search

Very Useful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love this extension. I use it in conjunction with the Add to Search Bar and Organize Search Engines extensions without any problems. This extension makes searching so much easier than using the dragging/dropping and copy/paste methods.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.4.6.1-signed).

ConQuery

Good for Thunderbird Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I use ConQuery in Thunderbird so that I don't have to copy/paste searches into Firefox. Shadow912's version for Firefox 5.0.* works with Thunderbird 5.0 if you hack the install.rdf file. Although I use this ConQuery in Thunderbird I do not use it in Firefox 5.0. Instead, I use Context Search (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/context-search/) because it offers more or less the same functionality and is kept up to date by its developer. Anybody desiring the functionality of ConQuery without all the hassles should look to using Context Search.

Screengrab

Works Great, But Lacks Features Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Screengrab works exactly as intended, but I find it lacks many of the features of Pearl Crescent Page Saver Basic. Screengrab is great for anybody looking for a screen capture add-on that simply works. If you want more features, however, check out Pearl Crescent.

Pearl Crescent Page Saver screenshot tool

Excellent Add-on! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

PCPSB is simply the best screen capture add-on I've used with Firefox. It is more feature-rich than Screengrab and nowhere near as annoying as FireShot. PCPSB is my "go-to" program when I want to capture a page in Firefox. I highly recommend it to everyone.

BarTab

Fantastic! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I just discovered this add-on yesterday and I already love it. Firefox is my main browser and I've been struggling with having too many tabs open in it for years. As a workaround, I’ve been running multiple instances of Firefox using different profiles in addition to using other browsers just to minimize the number of tabs I have open in Firefox.

Not only did I cringe every time I had to load or restart Firefox, but I was also frustrated with Firefox bogging down after running for several hours with numerous open tabs. This was especially frustrating because the only way I could get Firefox to perform well was to restart it! (And wait for all the tabs to reload.)

Now that I’m using this wonderful extension, however, I don’t have to worry about having to load or reload a tab until I actually click on it. Moreover, Firefox doesn’t bog down anymore even after being open all day. Kudos to the developer.

Flagfox

No Problems Here Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Version 4.0 works great for me using FF3.6 on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. I have a total of 35 extension running so it can't be that Flagfox has conflicts with other extensions.

I'd also like to say that the features available in 4.0 are excellent. I find the ability to right-click on the flag icon and select from a list of external lookups to be very useful. The ability to create my own lookups may also prove useful.

Thanks for your work Dave.G!

Show Parent Folder

My Lucky Day Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I stumbled upon this add-on while researching a problem with totally different add-on. It's my lucky day! It has been frustrating to search for a bookmark, find it, but then not have any information as to where it was located. That is no longer a problem thanks to this handy add-on. I never understood why something so basic is not part of Firefox.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.6).

NoSquint

A necessity for high resolution, widescreen displays Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using this extension for years and absolutely love it! The main benefits are 1) zoom level increment adjustment, 2) default zoom adjustment, and most importantly 3) remembering the zoom level per site.

No Squint performs flawlessly with FF3.0. However, I had to hack it to get it to work with FF3.1b2 because there isn't a new version for FF3.1. No Squint worked fine with the hack until I upgraded to FF3.1b3. Now No Squint no longer remembers zoom settings -- even when simply switching from tab to tab.

The good news is that I did find another extension that provides the same basic functionality as No Squint and works with FF3.1. It's called "Default FullZoom Level" and can be found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6965.

Re-Pagination

Very useful tool: Highly recommended Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It's really a shame that this extension is no longer supported. I guess it's because more people don't understand what an awesome and powerful tool this extension really is, and how it can enhance your browsing experience.

I'm delighted that it works with FF 3.0 (if you hack it), but it is in need of additional development work beyond a simple compatibility upgrade. (Some minor bugs do exist.)

Regardless, I will continue to hack it and use it with each new version of FF until it is either supported again, or until it becomes completely incompatible with FF.

Thanks for reading!
