Just want to add - because my initial review hasn't appeared to show up... that this add on is simply amazing.
I have been dreaming of something like this for zooming in and finally it has shown up - and better then I imagined.
PS - I was reading some reviews and noticed some people mention that it zooms in on text only. This is to do with your settings in firefox and not this add on.
You can either zoom text only, or zoom text and images, by changing the following settings:
- Go to "VIEW"
- If "Zoom Text Only" is checked: this means it will zoom on text only. To zoom text AND images, you will need to uncheck it.
(dev, you might want to add a little note about this in the description)
Would it be possible sometime in the future to expand on the fullscreen mode options?
So we could select for the right click and middle mouse button click to do either of these options:
a) Fullscreen Mode
b) Almost Fullscreen Mode - tab bar remains
c) Almost Fullscreen Mode - toolbars remain
Currently there's only an option for AFS mode with keeps the tab bar displayed.
I personally, when using the HTPC with a vertical tab bar, would like to eliminate the tab bar because I am always zooming in on text and some sites don't text wrap so I have to scroll left and right to read the text. So I'd probably like to get rid of the tab bar as well. Or perhaps instead of the toolbars.
However, on my normal monitor I don't have to zoom in as much to read, so I would like to keep the tab bar at all times.
But I think if you had these 3 options it'd probably cater for most people's desires.
Anyway thanks again.
What can I say, simply brilliant. You are the absolute best!
I was using pagezoombutton for this, but since it doesn't work in firefox 3.5 yet, I went to look for some other buttons. I didn't expect anyone to have created this, as soon as I saw it, I thought WOOHOO FINALLY!!!!
I have just installed, and I LOVE IT!!! I simply hold the right mouse button in and scroll the mouse scroll wheel down to zoom out - AND I get a lovely percentage indication on screen to tell me how far I have zoomed out. To zoom in I have to hold the right mouse button and scroll up with the mouse wheel.
I find the zooming to be perfectly smooth.
Right click and Middle Mouse button doesn't work for me. I'll have to keep trying, because it's an awesome idea - a quick easy way to get full screen and exit full screen.
You have done a fantastic job.
This should be a recommended add-on... Simple but extremely effective.
This is an amazing extension. So simple to operate, with just a click on the toolbar button, it does the rest by itself! User does not need to do anything more!
I have to say that the other one (page joining extension) was a bit too fiddly and complicated. I just never worked out how to make it for the sites I visit.
So I love that this one works straight out of the box! It does everything for you at just one click of the button. In my test so far, apart from 1 website, all others have worked flawlessly.
Just go to a website with a NEXT button, click the toolbar zipper button, and the zipper starts zipping away each time you come to the end of the page. It only takes a couple of seconds, and the following page is flawlessly joined to the bottom of the current page. Much quicker then loading new pages on your own!
A COUPLE OF SUGGESTIONS:
1. Can you possibly add (as an optional preference) a zipper line when each page ends, and new one begins, just to help identify them, and know that there is a new one below. Sometimes you come to the footer and it doesn't look like there's a whole other page below it.
Plus, a zipper image at the join would look cool!
2. NEXT and PREVIOUS PAGE buttons on the status bar. To jump to the next zipped page, or the previous zipped page in one tab. If thats possible that would be cool. Save you scrolling up and down on really long zipped pages, helping to easily find a page. (And save me getting too dizzy scrolling for so far and long and trying to focus. Seriously!)
Actually, a Home and End button could also be handy. To quickly jump to the top, and the end.
Thanks again for this super extension.
Very simple To-Do note taking. Just click on "Quick To-Do" in your status-bar to see your list, and an enter field to add a new To-Do note. Quick and easy to use.
Does not allow for pasting text into To-Do note field, editing or re-arranging of To-Do notes.
Seems to have a bug.
If I go to: Tools -> Add-Ons -> Quick To-Do and click on "OPTIONS";
it just BEEPS and causes the whole Add-Ons window to freeze up. Clicking any other add-on, or button (in Add-Ons window only) just makes the same (error) "beep". I can only close the Add-Ons window via Windows Task Manager.
I've tried clicking on other Add-Ons first and there is no problem, only once I click To-Dos Options does it freeze up.
Another bug (possibly, or maybe a feature?):
Left-Clicking on any of the "To-Do" items in the list (either title of a To-Do or a check box), automatically deletes that "To-Do" item. (Or perhaps this is the purpose? Just seems a little too easy to delete notes accidentally, so I was assuming otherwise.)
Apart from the bugs though, it's a good little To-Do list manager if you want something nice and simple.
I like that it is on unobtrusive on the status-bar, easy to get to and add quick little To-Do note.
Some Suggestions, if you are thinking of adding a bit more functionality. (Though I can't get inside the options to see if there is anything else I can make it do)
1. Edit a To-Do (by simply clicking on one). This would also allow us to highlight and to copy any of the text (eg. an email address).
2. A little button on the right of To-Do Add box, to save it.
3. Allow for pasting text into the To-Do add box.
4. Drag-Drop to re-arrange.
5. Ability to add a web-link that is click-able. (Automatic shortening of the link into a simple text link titled: LINK or a link icon, would be even more handy for the extra space to add a note beside it.)
FIRST OF ALL THANK YOU SO MUCH, THIS EXTENSION IS TRULY BRILLIANT. I dont know how I ever lived without it.
I have some suggestions for improving this extension. I hope some can be implemented, because itd make this truly fabulous extension even more fabulous!
1;UNDO CLOSED GROUP
To work in the same way as undo closed tab but for groups. Itd be good if you could at least undo the last closed group. So if you accidentally close it, you can undo it right away.
2; A) DISABLE CTRL-W from closing tab groups. I use CTRL-W (firefox shortcut to close tabs). I would prefer it if it didnt also close a tab group, and only worked for closing tabs in the group. Accidentally closed groups a few times now using this shortcut key.
B) DISABLE CRTL-TAB from switching between tab groups.
I use Firefox shortcut keys (CTRL-TAB) to switch between tabs. However, sometimes it switches between GROUP-TABS rather then just my normal tabs.
So, an option to disable CTRL-TAB on GroupTabs would be appreciated.
3CLOSE ALL OTHER TABS
I understand you are currently working on an option that closes only tabs in one group (left/right). Will you also be doing one for âCLOSE ALL OTHER TABS in a groupâ ?
Is it possible to get a toolbar button to close other tabs in a group?
For the TabGroup Toolbar (where the +, - and o buttons are), would it be possible to have the option of showing some more buttons?
Buttons Iâd like to have the possibility of including:
- Reload all tabs in a group.
-Close All Other Tabs in a group.
5 GroupTab Min Width + Max Width.
An option for users to specify the Minimum and Maximum width of Group-Tabs
I like the feature to automatically rename groups. However, I find it annoying how, depending on the Group-Tab title, the Group-Tabs end up at different widths. Some are too long, others too short.
Setting the Min and Max to users preferences would be great.
The of group-tabs could just be shortened (cut off at the end) if they exceed the Group-Tab width. Iâd prefer to see half the title as opposed to an unnecessary long tab width with the full title.
6 SAVE ALL TABS ON GROUP BAR
An option to save/bookmark ALL Tabs on the Group-Bar as they appear. Basically, the same idea as HIBERNATED GROUPS, but rather then saving a singular group it saves ALL the groups together.
It should save the position of tabs, Group-Tab names, tabs open within that group.
Then anytime a user wants to clear all groups and start afresh, they can have the option of easily loading their favourite set of Group-Bar tabs, without having to recreate them.
A FAVOURITE/BOOKMARK button could be added to the Group-Bar listing the saved groups (operating like the list for hibernated groups).
One of these favourite groups could be set as a user HOMEPAGE for tab groups for when they dont save state of tabs on exit. So, on a new session, it loads that group.
I prefer it to the other one. I don't believe the other had the ability to navigate around in the preview window.
It can almost be used like a second mini browser, which comes in handy for times you need to view 2 web pages together.
Also, it helps you from getting lost in tabs, if you're like me and have 1000s opened at a time. For example, if I'm reading a thread on one site, and want to find the meaning of a word. I have to open a new tab to load a dictionary site and navigate to it. Then I always get lost looking for the tab I was initially reading. CoolPreview allows me to go to the dictionary site without leaving that tab.
What I'd like to know, is why when I lock the preview window does it disappear when I leave the tab and then come back to it?
I find it annoying having to open the window all over, would much prefer if I could just keep the preview window open at all times.
Is it possible to have a setting, for users to select if they want coolpreview to ALWAYS be open? Two ways I'd much prefer to use it. Both describe a more persistant "LOCKING" of the preview.
1. Preview window is always opened on the tab it was used in, even when navigating away from it, so when you come back its still there. Or even allow it to be locked to a particular web site, so even when that web site is closed, once it has been re opened, it remembers it was locked to the site, and appears.
2. Preview window is always on top of all tabs, and always opened. So if I am using it in one tab, and switch to another tab, the preview window still appears on the others tabs. A toolbar button could toggle it on and off.
Some more persistant locking, as an option for users like me, who prefer it remain in the bottom corner of screen, unless switched off) would make this extension perfect.
EDITED TO ADD:
Hi, thanks for the reply. Would be super if you can find a way to allow that functionality.
Also, I have another idea that I would LOVE to see.
Can CP, be made to allow users to drag it outside of the Firfox Window?
Is there a reason CP can't be dragged outside the Firefox preview window?
I'd like the ability to use CP beside Firefox. so that I can browse without overlapping my firefox screen.
So eg, I could make Firefox fit 3/4 of screen width. And fill CP in the remaining 1/4.
This would let me read the whole of the FF window, without CP covering it. And allow me to also get a preview with CP.
This is a well made extension, works as described. Thanks.
Would it be possible to add a little button that appears next to any text box on a page, and when you click the button, it will show a 'drop-down' list of your favourite words. Clicking one from the list would enter it into the text box. Similar to how text boxes show remembered words, when you click in it once.
ETA: Just to add. The little button image next to each text box, could open up a floating list same as seen in the context menu - then we just select the word we want to paste and it closes. Saving us having to right-click in each box to go through the context menu.
Or an option to automatically open the floating list on the side of the screen, each time a user clicks in a text field. With a toggle button to turn it on and off.
For filling in multiple boxes on one web page, it'd be very handy!
I know it's probably not possible! But, I'm always filling in boxes, and dreaming of ways it could be more efficient, and thought I'd throw it out there see what you think.
Also, if that is not possible, would it be possible to drag/drop words from the toolbar button, so I don't have to click in a box, select from toolbar button, then click in next box, select from toolbar button. it would be a bit quicker dragging and dropping with multiple boxes.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (126.96.36.199).
Just discovered this a few days ago, and it is simply amazing. Surfing the net has never been so productive and enjoyable.
I have no faults.
Just one SUGGESTION: Is there a possibility of creating a new function that allows to search multiple drop zones in one drag? Not how the pre-defined groups work, more of a choice for the exact sites you want on that one time.
If you could select any text, drag it to drop zone 1 (eg google), but without dropping it, 'right-click' (substitutes the normal 'drop' action') to search the dragged text in google.
Then with the text still in drag mode, take it to drop zone two (eg ebay) and right click to search ebay. And so on.
Just an idea that would be pretty nifty for those times you want to search two or more different sites with the same text.
Thanks so much for the effort in creating this perfect extension and sharing with everyone!
great job on the extension. As it is, I personally wouldn't use it.
Some features that I'd suggest to make it even better:
-- Adding some more menus to browse along with bookmarks and history. --Addons, Downloads, Options.
-- I found it strange, and annoying that if I resize the frame while looking at my bookmarks, then change to 'history', it doesn't keep the frame resize I used when browsing the bookmarks.
An option to keep one frame size, even when switching to another menu (bookmarks or history etc) would be nice.
This is a handy add-on, thanks. I particularly like the feature that allows you drag bookmark folders around! To reorganise them normally, I'd have to cut the folder and paste it elsewhere (on the toolbar).
For bookmarking to folders - I was wondering, to make it even quicker, would it be possible to add mouse-clicking shortcut function.
-simply doubleclicking on a bookmark folder, adds the bookmark to it.
Working it is too simple. I'm in awe. I hope MOZILLIA takes note. This should be how the search box operates.
Scrap all the fiddleassing around to search for individual search engine plugins or attempting to make them yourself.
This add-on works straight out the box. And it works better then you could dream.
Not only do you get any search engine straight to your search box, it REMEMBERS user defined advanced search options.
An essential add-on that makes surfing the net through firefox 1000x more productive and enjoyable.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your time and effort in creating this BRILLIANT add-on.
Only fault is that I didn't find it sooner!!!
Agree with everyone - this should be a TB Standard Feature. With this looking for my contacts is much simpler and faster than TBs awkward new window that opens.
One thing I'd love to see implemented:
Adding a contact - dragging an email and dropping on a blank area - or a special "add as contact" button to add the sender of that email as a new contact.
Great work, thanks for the Brill Add-On.
MOZILLIA: PLEASE make this a standard feature.
good stuff. needs an update for latest tb version. changing the max version in the RDF file gets it working in case anyone want to try.
can you make border colours for account inboxes?
Mike Botsko I Love You!
What an amazing extension, thank you so much!
I haven't tried it the way you explained yet.
The way I use this to block an image/s from websites is -
RIGHT CLICK on the image and select Adblock Image... then select ok and image is gone.
YEP not working. Could only test it on the mystickies page.
This add on would be awesome if you didn't have to sign up and sign in to use it and doesn't require a whole new toolbar.
Looks very slick. Works well.
Are you going to make an optional Toolbar button similar to the statusbar button?
Would be good if it could play the selected video in the side bar (at 4 times the size of the preview image) Save opening new tabs to watch it.
Great works nicely with a simple click of a toolbar button!
But... the big problem is that it doesn't save the highlighted text if you exit from the site and come back.
So unless this feature is added I will have to stick with Wired Marker.
when you right click and choose "rename this tab". The window that opens to write a name in has pre-entered text:
"TabRenamizer :: Firefox Add-ons"
okay so this is an issue in slowing down productivity. Each time I am to give a tab a custom name to remind me what it was for, i have to highlight the text in this box and delete it first.
Would be much better if it was left blank, so you can simply type the custom name in without any fiddling around
anyone know an extension that lets you double click on a tab, and then it let you edit it right on the tab?
