Downloading small files is no big deal, but larger files require a more robust download manager and DownloadThemAll! offers just this. I am constantly downloading large files for various reasons such as new software, software updates, and Linux distros. Before I found this plugin, it was frustrating to get cutoff in the middle of a download or have a corrupted download that required me to start all over. DownloadThemAll! has the features I needed to make downloads more fault tolerant, easier to manage, and not to mention faster in some cases. This plugin is a mainstay for all my FireFox installs across all my computers. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.13).
SQLite is good, but SQLite Manager makes it awesome. SQLite Manager makes editing and building SQLite simple because of its no-nonsense interface does exactly what I need it to do without the overhead and fluff of desktop DBMS software like Access, Adabas, or LibreOffice Base. And because it integrates with FireFox, it is handy to use alongside of other mobile and web development tools available in FireFox. In short, SQLLite Manager saves me time and effort to get my work done. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.7.7).
Face it -- the work of a developer is hard. It is even harder when there is a lack of good tools for testing and debugging software – particularly web services. In the past, I used to write test harnesses that required bulky IDE’s with steep learning curves. I was like, “surely, there has to be a better way to do this…” After some research, I found RESTClient. RESTClient is FireFox plugin for testing web services that is simple, low-level, and easy to use. I simply fill out the request and run it. Then RESTClient shows me exactly what the webserver sent without all the unnecessary fluff of a fancy IDE’s. Its simplicity has saved me hours of frustration and work. But don’t let the name fool you. RESTClient works with REST services, but it will also post back and receive XML and it works JSON data too. The bottom line is this: RESTCLient penultimate web service debugging tool because its simplicity and ease of use. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.2).
