Clear design, has what I need, a bit pricey Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I was a big fan of ForecastFox and the Weather Underground add-on. However, with the recent changes, both of these add-ons cause serious problems navigating eBay's website for some reason. I suspect they do it with other websites too that I haven't noticed. I had to disable them and install this.
I'm pleased with the clean, clear, easy to read design. I expect that the ability to choose different weather stations in your area is part of the pay version?, along with being able to choose different towns to look at. I also vote for the color changing temperature icon.
I'm less pleased with the costly upgrade. (Tim, you should change the "all for the price of a coffee" part, coffee doesn't cost $10.) When I tried to get the free upgrade my browser crashed, so I assume that's over with.
I'm sorry that features that are basic on a lot of weather add-ons are only available by paying $$, but times are hard and it's clear you put a lot of work into this; if people are willing to pay $10 for it, then go for it. Good luck!
v0.2.3 still stuck at color wheel for 10 day forecast Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I'm very fond of Weather Underground & love having it as an add-on. Other than the fact I cannot get the 10-day forecast to load (color wheel just spins around) it is a great add-on to Firefox, and I'm sure they're working on it.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2.3).
Disappeared from my navigation toolbar Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I was using this great add-on just fine until today when I discovered it had vanished from my navigation toolbar. I go to Configure to put it back, it's not shown in the options. I rebooted Firefox several times, still nothing. I try resetting to defaults and putting everything back how I want it, it's still not there. I uninstall and reinstall it, it still doesn't show in the navigation toolbar or anywhere else. The secret seems to be disable and re-enable in the Add-ons menu. Then it will show up in the options for Configure and you can just put it back in the navigation bar. Not sure why this worked. I did update Java and Flash before trying this, but I didn't think they had anything to do with this plug-in.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (6.1.1).
Awesome Rated 5 out of 5 stars
A simple effective theme that takes me back home. I am native on my dad's side and actually he and I both like the Indian logo and the name "Fighting Illini". Thank you.
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I kept this on my browser all winter long. Thank you.
"Incompatible with version 13.0.1"? Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I'm giving Mail Redirect 5 stars for my experience with it on my laptop, where it runs like a dream. I have been unable to install it on my PC, however.
Both the laptop and PC have the latest Thunderbird, 13.0.1, auto-updated. When I try to install Mail Redirect on T'bird on the PC, however, it says "Mail Redirect could not be installed because it is incompatible with version 13.0.1."
The only difference between these two machines is that my laptop is running Vista Home and the PC is running WinXP Pro SP3.
If the problem is the operating system, why doesn't it say so? This is really frustrating.
Larger more colorful displays are not improvements. Rated 2 out of 5 stars
I'm a big fan of color, but for some reason the big colorful displays in the new Forecastfox put me off. I feel like this useful tool has been redesigned to appeal to preschoolers or something.
Part of the problem is that the pop-ups are too big. They cover up too much of the screen. And I don't know whether it's my computer or what, but the actual text is in very small type and is hard for me to read.
I have reverted back to old reliable 0.9.10.2. I wish an alternative version using the old display could be made available with the modern bug fixes and actual improvements.
Flaming thermometer icon? Rated 1 out of 5 stars
I took one look at the new Forecastfox and immediately downgraded back to 0.9.10.2. Everything's running just as it did before except for one thing; on very hot days I no longer see the "flaming thermometer". On my other computer, where I never installed the upgrade, the thermometer still shows. And believe me, out here right now it's appropriate. We just had the hottest day on record for this area! Can you tell me how to get the icon back? I checked, and I am using the same icon set (Accuweather.com Iconic) on both machines.
