Better than ever! (an updated review) Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I am SO impressed by this update that I can't express my gratitude to the developer. He has heard every nasty complaint and addressed each one with a flexible, totally functional add-on that not only made me feel glad to have donated, but is sending me back to RE-donating! Thank you for all of this work!
PRECEDING REVIEW (which was called "almost there"):
As of this new version, I can move the icon to the Add-on bar, but this requires installing the extension "New Add-on Bar" -- which I hope will continue to work in future versions of Firefox.
The only issue is that it is only available as a pop-up, not as a strip of multiple days. That strip was really useful.
BTW, I contributed to this developer, and he is responsive -- so I encourage others to do so as well.
Almost back to good function Rated 4 out of 5 stars
OK, it now shows up in the Menu Bar, and I can drag the icon down to the Add-on Bar that I restored via the extension below.
However, there is no option to view as anything other than a pop-up. I liked having the row of 3 days ahead visible on the bar - it was an easy, no-effort view. Is it possible to restore this as an option?
This is not a "vilify the developer" review. I liked the old version so much I contributed to the developer, who seems very nice and quite good as a programmer. But here is the problem:
I had the prior version showing at the bottom, in the Add-Ons bar (I use New Add-On to restore that function).
This new version does not show up anywhere. I can not even find an icon to drag it elsewhere!
I am VERY disappointed with this new development. So I've gone from 5 stars (first review, now missing on Mozilla!) and contributing to the developer down to this 1 star review, simply because despite contributing I now have zero ability to use it.
Problems in FF 53 Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Ever since I permitted the FF update in May 2017, the options for this extension do not work properly -- e.g. I cannot get rid of the satellite map icon, cannot kill separators, cannot get more than 2 days of predictions. Also, it now insists on opening the settings tab every time I open FF.
On the up side, it works with Chrome. But I don't use Chrome.
I am one of those folks who actually pays developers (and this is one of the few developers I've paid!) so this is more troubling than usual.
Still Working After All This Time! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Just downloaded 3.2.5 and this extension still works great (Tbird 45.2.0 under Win10Pro). Easily replaces all of the older, now-long-outdated extensions for exporting mail.
Used to work :-( Rated 2 out of 5 stars
I liked this and used it, but with the more recent versions of Thunderbird it no longer works, so I've moved over to Extra Format Buttons (despite that add-on having its own eccentricities). Very sorry to see this one go!This user has a previous review of this add-on.
Ceased working a while ago Rated 2 out of 5 stars
For a while, I used this add-on frequently; now it no longer works with the newer Tbird versions, and there is no replacement.
The problem is larger than one extension -- Tbird's address book display has become buggy and there is a real need for improvement, including the ability to copy text.
It is very sad that this is no longer working.
Had ceased working in FF45 - FIXED !!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
THE NEW VERSION WORKS THANK YOU!
This is a text book example of why it's so important to support developers by contributing -- Simple Mail is so essential to Firefox that it's the kind of thing you wish was packaged with the program.
I had posted this review:
I don't know if the culprit is v45 or the latest Java update (I did both in 1 afternoon) but NO version (even the most recent, available elsewhere) works now. Just sits there like a sleepy snail.
Terrible Add-On Rated 1 out of 5 stars
1. This may not save the page showing on screen -- it saves the parent if you're viewing through a frame. Which makes it pretty much useless.
2. It requires a PAID ACCOUNT if you want to adjust ANY parameters.
This does NOT belong on the official Mozilla site.
This has stopped working Rated 1 out of 5 stars
I loved this add-on. Now it doesn't work any more. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (22.214.171.124-signed).
Limited Rated 3 out of 5 stars
The Firefox interface for this software is limited. I wanted to be able to send/receive texts in Firefox when someone sends them to my phone. The Pushbullet PR says this is possible. It really isn't possible yet. (The desktop app might do it -- have not checked yet -- but the add-on doesn't do much that I can't accomplish in any one of a dozen other ways.)This review is for a previous version of the add-on (179.1-signed).
Not there yet Rated 2 out of 5 stars
Nice if it worked. I will update to 5 stars if the developer can correct the issues Michael Woffenden described in his 3/3/2015 review.
Rated 1 out of 5 stars
This was once the best, lightweight, efficient extension for gmail. As of FF33 it is useless.
Sluggish, Not superior to setting a search Rated 3 out of 5 stars
This is a well-executed add-on, but it bogs down when you have many incoming messages. I long ago created pre-set searches and saved as virtual folders, and they reside in the folder pane; if you don't like that approach, this works, but it will also require additional screen real estate -- displaying the Quick Filter toolbar. I think creative programmers should be encouraged and this was creatively programmed; however, it doesn't do much for me. On the other hand, I will be watching for whatever new idea this developer creates in the future.
Still Works OK with editing Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Still works if you change the install.rdf file to allow v23 (details on how to do this are elsewhere on Mozilla - basically open the *.xpi file with WinZip, open the *.rdf with Notepad, edit the version, save all, install). This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.8.1).

This no longer works; the Send button does not send regardless of making the change described above.
Good & Lightweight Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This is a nice, simple, elegant add-on that doesn't bloat TBird. I have 2 suggestions for you to consider should you get to updating/enhancing: (1) Allow the user to leave some fields blank (e.g. sometimes you don't have a number handy but know the person can look it up); and, (2) Offer the ability to send as plain text or as plain+HTML.
update - this DOES work now Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This works fine (TB11). Thank you for this!
This does not work on my PC: Win 7 Pro / Tbird 3.1.7
Like the earlier extension designed to e-mail telephone messages, this is a great idea but does not yet work.

Sadly, this doesn't work with Thunderbird 3.1 so I've had to remove it. Quite useful (if it could be updated). This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2).

My accidental update to TBird 3.1 ruined me -- I can't get my notes back -- if ever an update was needed, this is the time! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.2.0pre1).

Excellent add-on. Would love to see a right-click -> copy entry function.
BTW, I too have TBird 3.0.4 but unlike Tom Hubert I cannot use right-click to copy a contact's entry from the address book. So: Tom, what am I doing wrong? (Or: What are you doing right?)
